ARCHIVED Tell Me Something.....
JNBunnie1 replied to Firegirl43's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I know it's not fair, but it sounds like the easiest solution would be to monitor your own handwashing habits. Just DON'T TOUCH THE FACE!!! I yell that at myself almot every day...... -
ARCHIVED Help! Have To Eat Gluten Again!
JNBunnie1 replied to F.deSales's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I couldn't agree more with Ursa. There is no medical reason to get a Celiac diagnosis, YOU already know you feel better. Why bother? What exact purpose would this diagnosis serve, really? -
ARCHIVED Still Not Better
JNBunnie1 replied to Worriedwife's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
I would honestly be a little suspicious about eating all that fish. If he has Celiac disease (and yes, if the blood tests say he does, then he does, there are no false positives) then his immune system is not up to par and he may be very overloaded with mercury. Fish just isn't safe on a regular basis anymore, for a HEALTHY person, I'd say max once a week... -
ARCHIVED Agitation When Glutened?
JNBunnie1 replied to cdfiance's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
I used to get that too, I started using an electric razor and it went away. Turns out I just have really sensitive skin, that doesn't handle a razor well. The only other way I'm able to shave is in a bath and pour a bunch of cocoa butter oil or baby oil or something in and shave under water, it keeps the blade from cutting you. Unfortunately I no longer have... -
ARCHIVED Cooking For My Fiance
JNBunnie1 replied to mistyb5712's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
As for romantic gluten-free dinners, I recently discovered that if you put 1 1/2 pounds of london broil in a crockpot and pour one can of tomato soup and one can of cream of anything soup in, add whatever spices you like, you get the MOST fabulous meat ever. You can't even get it out with a fork, you have to use a ladle because the meat falls apart. Great... -

ARCHIVED Anyone Ever Cheat On This Diet?
JNBunnie1 replied to sillyyak's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
For everyone that has a craving for a particular food, you might visit the Recipes forum a little farther down the page from Coping With. They have debates over gluten-free pizza crust, whether thin-crust or deep dish, floppy or crispy, you really can have good gluten-free food. I actually made the hot fudge cake on the home page recipes section, oh my god... -
ARCHIVED Normal Food Suggestions
JNBunnie1 replied to Suffering in Ohio's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
On the Hunt's website it says that they use distilled vinegar for the ketchup, so they won't claim it gluten-free. Should I still avoid it, how long ago was this test done? -
Has anyone ever gotten DH after years of being gluten-free and then getting glutened? Just curious, I have a nasty itchy rash and I think its' DH and I'd like to avoid the doctor bill.....
-
Hey! I had that pytiriasis thing too! That was a while ago, I don't think it was gluten-related or anything though. I actually just got DH for the first time, I got glutened after two years gluten-free. Has that happened to anone else, getting DH so many years after diagnosis?

A really great place to get fiber is from coconut flour. I think you may be able to tolerate it better than any other flour, and you can bake things with just coconut flour. The only thing is that most of those recipes don't make much, I usually double them. Another very nutritious item is avocados, maybe diced with eggs and a safe salsa, or on top of salad...

ARCHIVED Just Not Getting Much Better...
JNBunnie1 replied to Bravie's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Hi Bravie, relax, I don't think there's anything 'else' wrong with you. All those exact same things happened to me. In fact, I recently got glutened, and after I had recovered, I started getting the worst diarrhea ever. Turns out I'm now either temporarily or permanently lactose intolerant. But! (big but) taking Lactaid makes me able to eat dairy anytime... -
ARCHIVED Normal Food Suggestions
JNBunnie1 replied to Suffering in Ohio's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
So everyone knows, I had a severe reaction to Sam's rotisserie chicken two weeks ago. I wouldn't trust it, no way do they clean those things good enough. I defnitely got glutened from it. Makes me very sad, that was good stuff.... -
ARCHIVED Best And Worst Drs Opinions/advice
JNBunnie1 replied to Meemsy's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
My GI doctors actually did a small intestine biopsy and it came back negative, so they didn't explore it any further, I figured it out on my own. But the smartest thing I ever heard from a doctor (my GP) was "You feel better? Good! Dont ever eat wheat again!" -
ARCHIVED Old-timers Help! Reacting Again!
JNBunnie1 replied to oceangirl's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I thought of two things during your post. One, is to check with manufacturers of your normal foodstuffs (besides fruits n veggies) and see whether any ingredient have changed, that's always something to look out for. Someone may have even just started processing in a plant that also has wheat when they never did before. My other thought is that perhaps while... -
Is there any way this is related to a supplement you're taking? I tend to feel deathly nauseous after I take zinc, I have to eat a ridiculous amount of food to keep from being sick for hours. And I'm also positive it's gluten-free, so maybe there's just something that's literally souring your stomach. Are your light dinners the night before typically all...

Garlic toast! I have been able to recreate almost everything with gluten free flour, except for that light, crispy-edged, buttery garlic toast they give you in restaurants. Wah.

My first date with my current (wonderfully fabulous) boyfriend was laser tag. We had so much fun together that we decied to hang out longer and eat dinner together. Then we were having so much fun together we went and saw a movie. But the dinner thing was easy, I just picked something on the menu that was already gluten free, asked the waitress to just double...

Hi, sorry to go off topic, but try applesauce in your plain yogurt, I saw in your sig you were doing plain yogurt with sugar, it gives a lot more flavor when you add fruit! -
ARCHIVED Anyone Ever Get Hives From Gluten?
JNBunnie1 replied to chocolatelover's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I used to get hives from being around cats, which I'm allergic to. The allergy has gotten less severe as I get older, but maybe she hugged a cat or something she doesn't normally do? -

ARCHIVED Problems With My Mouth
JNBunnie1 replied to Elaine Allen's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I used to get the ulcers on my lips til I went gluten free. Now I sometimes get this thing where my tongue turns red and burns a lot, but it's not related to any specific food so far, because I've had those foods again and they haven't caused it. I think maybe it was a drug reaction, but I'll have to take that drug again to find out. Maybe we're all just... -
Actually, the best thing to take for bacterial overgowth is probiotics, not antibiotics. When you take antibiotics, you kill all the good bugs in your system as well as the bad, and as soon as you stop taking them, the bad ones come back even worse because you've now killed the good bugs that help control them. I've always been pretty solid with my stomach...
