  1. I don't think it's fair to say that family members suffer from stress because of their loved ones restrictions. Real love doesn't resent things like that. My boyfriend is better about being gluten-free than I am, because he loves me and he hates it when I hurt. I personally think that someone who lives with you and professes to love you should put your health...
  2. I actually have to have a LOT of gluten to have a reaction, I'm not anywhere near as sensitive as most of the people here. Maybe your gut has healed a lot, or maybe it's working overtime because of the baby! (Congratulations, by the way!)
  3. Absolutely, not to mention the fact that it takes a while for your intestinal system to recover fully. You might try taking a broad spectrum probiotic, make sure it's gluten free. Any health food store will be happy to check for you, I take Flora's udo's Choice Adult Probiotic. That should help with your internal repair.
  4. I've had that happen too Jo, I always got kinda freaked out by it. There's a lot of explanations people give, the first usually being gas. It can't hurt to try a cleansing program, like Dr Colonix or something, it's probably a good idea for people to do once in a while anyway. You never know, you're not likely to have critters that big unless you've been...
  5. What I do is buy some really good juice, you know, like Naked or Bolthouse Farms, and I can't have any unless I take my vitamins with it. So I only get enough to take my vitamins every day. It will help with indigestion, hopefully, and it will provide incentive to take the vitamins. And they even make month-long pill containers, you could always buy one of...
  6. Well, there's also the fact that the likelyhood of suicide rises dramatically once someone is put on antidepressants. Google "suicide antidepressants" (without the quotes, that would change your search results) and see what you get. There are a lot of different therapies out there for those dealing with depression, I could suggest a place to start, I would...
  7. It's a link to a website that has a short questionnaire for people who think they might have celiac diease, and if you say yes to enough questions, you can print it out and take it to your doctor! Open Original Shared Link
  8. I've always eaten Amy's gluten-free stuff, but I don't react as easily as everyone else, it takes a lot of gluten for me to have a reaction, so I wouldn't be able to say it's all safe. Maybe there's something wierd about the areas this stuff is being produced? Does Am'ys have more than one plant?
  9. Lord, if there was doctor that did that to me I'd take dated pictures, I'd tell everyone who would listen, I'd take out a radio ad, maybe even a commercial! I'd go and put a notice on his front door after they were inside every day so people would know, I can't believe how awful some doctors have been to some people! I might write to HIS insurance agent....
  10. OOH!! That's the sweetest thing ever to do for you hubby. My boyfriend and I were at the store and saw in the freezer section a box of choclate chip cookies that are super thick and have a fudge pocket in the middle. Now, normally I don't mind that stuff because I can make almost anything gluten free and have it be great, but I must have been pmsing or something...
  11. Whoo! Do they have Kroger's in New England?
  12. Actually, there's no set standard for what triggers Celiac disease symptoms in a person. Some people have symptoms all their lives, some have a hormonal onset, like puberty or childbirth, some have other triggers. I had an emotional trigger, oddly enough. I personally think you're born with it, but sometimes there's a trigger that sets off certain symptoms...
  13. Hi! I've actually found that my symptoms are milder in the past year when I get glutened than before, I've been gluten-free for about three years. It's apparently unusual to have milder symptoms after you've been gluten-free for a while, but not unheard of. Also, how long have you been gluten-free? If it's only been a month or two then you won't be sure yet...
  14. Way to go! I think I can hear that roar all the way up here!
  15. I'm not really sure I followed this post. You put meat on the 'eat' and 'do not eat' lists. Also, chicken is typically easily tolerated by most any stomach. Lots of water and limited exercise are very important to recovery, it's important to improve your circulation as opposed to letting it stagnate.
  16. Part of it is probably all the eating out. Try googling gluten-free restaurants in your area, I'm not sure what section you live in or I'd make a few recommendations from my last trip. You might be able to eat out with more confidence, and you can always ask on the phone ahead of time if they have a gluten free menu, you'd be surprised at how many restaurants...
  17. Way to go!! Trader Joe's is a great place to shop. You're probably still not absorbing all you rnutrients, because your guts still healing. You might want to find a decent probiotic at your health food joint and start taking that. Make sure it's gluten free!!
  18. Isis, have you been tested for heavy metal toxicity? It can create reactions to other things while you're suffering from it, but then once you're body is cleansed of the heavy metals you can return to normal foods. It can't hurt to try.
  19. By the way- you kinda want your poo to float, it means you're getting enough fat to have some be waste product. It depends on what your body can tolerate, but there are a lot of fat-soluble vitamins you won't be able to digest unless you get enough GOOD fat. Try looking through the Weston Price foundation website, it has a great deal of info about vitamins...
  20. I actually used to pass out all the time, and I have unbelievably low blood pressure. It sounds like you're not ABSORBING enough nutrients, you may be eating them, but oyu're not absorbing them. I think you need more fat in your diet, there are a great deal of vitamins that are only fat-soluble. I would add organic full-fat cheese and yogurt, raw cheese...
  21. I have a thought for you. Have you checked the sugar content of your yogurt? My body behaves far better when I remove all the excess sugar, just a little conatiner of Yoplait could have more than 20 grams of sugar. I would recommend getting the large tubs of organic plain yogurt, I like Seven Stars Farm brand the best, becuase they have real cultures and...
  22. Hi Redharmony! I have an idea for you, write it down right now! Thai Kitchen makes instant meals just like Ramen noodles, only it's rice noodles. Next time you're in the grocery store, they're usually in the health food section of Stop& Shop, which is an east coast grocery, buy ten! And reach for those instead of the gluteny stuff next time you're starving...
  23. The best thing is actually learning how to cook food, I was never very good at it before, but boy am I now! Having ice cream be my only 'safe treat' when we're out. (OH darn.) Having all my boyfriend's coworkers jealous because he goes to work with all sorts of wonderful homemade foods. Chebe bread. Laughing hystericaly at someone who's so excited...
  24. I found another brand called Notta Pasta made from rice that was just as good as Tinkyada, but I think it's pretty rare, I've only ever seen it once, out of the maybe 50+ stores in the area I've been in. But it's cheaper then Tinkyada, so it doesn't hurt to look. They only make spaghetti, linguine, and fettucine though, so for variety, definitely Tinkyada...
  25. I'm sorry you're feeling so poorly Jerri. Have you had any doctors test for heavy metal toxicity?
