  1. My best friend's family 'adopted' me long ago, and for Christmas I'll either bring dinner or they'll make something safe. I've gotten so very sensitive that I don't really feel comfortable eating at other people's homes, and they're ok with that. But for christmas dinner, my surrogate dad hauled me into the kitchen, gave me everything he was going to use...
  2. So basically blood tests can indicate big huge problems with gluten, but not actually diagnose Celiac disease versus intolerance? My other question: What about an actual diagnosis is helpful to people? Is there some protocol everyone's been following, beyond being gluten-free, that I don't know about?
  3. How do you FIND that stuff? I've tried going to the website but can never find the invitational stuff.
  4. They both have retractable reproductive parphernalia? (the males)
  5. Also consider whether Bob's pizza mix has bean flour, and think whether you've had any beans at all lately. It could just be a bean/gas thing for that one.
  6. Looks like shepherds' pie, kinda. I gotta try that!
  7. Spectrum sells a shortening made from palm oil, is what I have at home, so if you can find that you can do a whole lot of baking with it, it works very well for me. How about olive oil as well? And buying things online will probably be your best bet.
  8. My only advice would be to be very careful with any product you are going to use on skin that may contain gluten. A number of people have no problem with this. I do. You may find yourself reaching into your mouth to get that sticky bit of raisin off your back teeth before you even think about, after having put lotion on your hands. There's just no reason...
  9. That used to be a problem for me, until I was 20 or so. I would get really hot, but never sweat, and I'd be beet red and feel like passing out. Wierd what that darn gluten stuff can do to you, huh?
  10. Part of what gluten does to people is neurological, so your emotions can become strange and less easily controlled than what you're used to. And yes, a number of people have their 'active' symptoms randomly 'triggered' by some seemingly unrelated thing; surgery, pregnancy, emotional turmoil, injury, a stomach bug. You do not need to feel like some other wierd...
  11. I got gluten free restaurants and TOMS are Vegan Friendly!!! I sthat like a dating ad? You don't mind dating vegans?
  12. So I went to the dentist today and got me two fillings done. Still can't feel my face. The guy gave me a bit o laffy gas, didn't work a bit. Guess it would take a bit more.... He actually offered, and I said "Sure! If it's free...." And he said it was, so I said lay it on me baby. I got nuthin.... Where's my laffy-laffy, mister? Crappy stuff...... The guy...
  13. I know just how you feel!!!! I took a few months off after my Dad died two years ago, and then went looking for work. Everywhere I went they told me I was overqualified. I don't even have a college degree! I just had too much experience I guess. And people seriously suck at calling back, I am continuously astounded at how remarkably rude human resources...
  14. Yes, many of us discovered how awesome Ener-g bread is for stuffing after buying it and not being able to eat it. It's even better if you use chicken broth instead of water for the stuffing.
  15. If you google your ginger ale's brand name and the word gluten together, you can usually find something somwhere that tells you if it's safe. And you can always just add a dab of vanilla flavoring to your drink! As for whether your symptoms are normal or not, ALL symptoms are normal! Because of the way this disease affects people's nervous systems...
  16. You probably hated the All-Purpose flour because it has bean flour in it. Don't go there. And rice flakes are icky. I don't use much from Bob's, just individual flours like sorghum and starches, and the cornbread mix. Which doesn't have bean flour. I have found that most store-made gluten-free food just ain't close to what I make at home. For example, I make...
  17. HAHAHAHAHAAAA!!! I'm stealing that.....
  18. I use a gluten-free B-complex I get at Walmart- cheap, I know, but I ain't really rolling in dough right now. I use a sublingual additionally for rough days. I think it's by NatureMade, the B-complex. Dude, you're doing fine. You don't need to explain yourself over and over. The people on the board are usually on high alert against the "This is too hard...
  19. The OP is just looking for help, sbj, not to get into an argument.
  20. You're not going to get bashed, at least not by me. What you are dealing with is a rude person, regardless of the subject of her behavior, and I'm impressed that you came here to ask for help, seeing that we would be sympathetic to 'Lucy's' plight. Obviously, she's not getting something she needs. Don't beat yourself up for not being it, just because...
  21. Zinc, baby! Hope you feel better soon.....
  22. I KNEW the blue google people were watching us!!!!!! BUNNIES BUNNIES BUNNIES BUNNIES BUNNIES BUNNIES BUNNIES BUNNIES BUNNIES BUNNIES BUNNIES Let's see what they make of THAT!
  23. I useEcover Chamomile dish soap for shampoo (very cheap!) And Nature's Gate henna conditioner. Seems to work quite well for me! I haven't cut my hair in two years, hardly any split ends. A bit uneven, I'll grant.....
  24. Here's how I do it: If something says 'manufactured on same EQUIPMENT', I don't eat it. If it says 'manufactured in same FACILITY', I haven't had a problem with it. The way I see it, flour can only fly so far, and it's not like the other facilities are usually bakeries, it's usually something like chips made on a dedicated line in a factory that makes chips...
  25. I have a few thoughts. Keep in mind that as your body's villi begin to heal, your absorption of medications will change. You need to be ABUNDANTLY aware of how each medication you take affects you, and be willing to start taking less and less as you heal. You may find that your thyroid numbers start to even out as you finish healing down the road. ...
