  1. Wow! Congratulations!
  2. That's interesting... I still don't think that the fries are always 100% safe though for celiacs. Too much gluten flying around in those places.
  3. I would not go out and buy new pots as long as there are no scratches in the pans where gluten may be. I use the same pots as my family, I just make sure there are no residues on them when I cook.
  4. If the results are negative... you could have a gluten sensitivity or intolerance, or you could have an intolerance to something else like casein (milk protein), lactose, soy, corn, ect. You could start out by eliminating dairy products and see what happens. If that doesn't work, than I would try gluten. Persoanlly, I believe that IBS only occurs when...
  5. The last two times I had lays chips, I got sick, but they were the ones on dedicated gluten free lines, my guess is that it was dairy cross contamination. I got sick after eating their fries as well even after that they reasurred me that they are in a dedicated frier. There is so much gluten flying around that some gluten could have easily got in the...
  6. There are very low amounts of gluten in Bob Red Mills gluten free products. It says on their website. "While the current Codex gluten-free standard specifies a gluten limit of 200 parts per million (ppm), Bob’s Red Mill’s gluten-free products consistently fall below 20 ppm." Open Original Shared Link I get my flour from a health food store and the...
  7. I know what you mean!
  8. hmmm I can rant for a bit... I am just tired of gluten being everywhere... on clean plates, pots, and silverwear... on the table and counter and in the microwave where I cook my food sometimes. I am also getting REALLY annoyed at companies who say that their food is gluten free and then find out after I ate it for several months that it was produced...
  9. Here is some info I found on it: "Celiac.com 12/31/2002 - Background: Immunoglobulin A (IgA) deficiency is 10-15 times more common in patients with Celiac Disease (celiac disease) than in normal subjects. Serological tests have become the preferred methods of detecting both symptomatic and asymptomatic patients with celiac disease. However, commercially...
  10. Maybe try a hot water bottle or ice for the pain if it is localized? Ice would be good because it would kind of numb the area.
  11. While we're on the topic of hot dogs... does anyone know if butterball turkey hotdogs (franks) are gluten-free? I contacted the company by e-mail almost a week ago now and they haven't wrote back yet (I usually get quick responses from companies).
  12. I'm sorry to hear that At buffets, I usually eat from the veggie and fruit tray. You could also bring something to eat with everyone else, like rice cakes.
  13. If the lactaid pills don't work, then she may be intolerant to casein, the milk protein. People with casein intolerance have to avoid dairy just like gluten. She would have to read all labels. Casein is in a lot of things like most chocolate, chips, lactose free products, candy, baked goods, ect. I believe that I am casein intolerant, but I have never been...
  14. I love their products I also love their recipes This link will show you all their products that are gluten, dairy, and vegan free Open Original Shared Link
  15. I don't think so, but I don't think I've been tested for an allergy to it. I used to eat these salads all the time with no problems except the time that I had that flax seed on it. I don't think any of the salads have croutons (I will look into it). That is why I though it my have been the flax seed that was contaminated. I am super sensitive to gluten...
  16. Kaiti, do you know if any of the dove shampoos/conditioners contain gluten? The bottles here in Canada unfortunately don't list the ingredients. Or maybe a better question, which ones do you know are gluten free? Thanks.
  17. For those visiting or living on PEI, Piece A Cake Restaurant will cater to celiacs. Open Original Shared Link
  18. It's problably a good idea to stay gluten free if it's affecting you and your baby that much to eat it. Keep us posted
  19. ooo that doesn't sound good I found this on their website: "Bob’s Red Mill stone grinds flours in a dedicated room for the production of its gluten-free line and performs batch testing before processing and after packaging. The company adheres to the Codex Alimentarius standard – the international gluten-free food standard for manufacturers. While the...

    ARCHIVED Saw Gi Doc Today...

Sounds like a good doctor I hope the biopsy goes well.
  21. Swiss Chalet is a great place to eat for celiacs. Just ask for the celiac/gluten free menu when you go in and they will give you a list of things that you can have (either in a pamphlet or on a sheet of paper). I usually get the quarter chicken dinner with traditional sauce and garden salad with french dressing.
  22. If you have only been gluten free for a short time, then you may not get a violent or any reaction from eating gluten right away. When I first started the diet (first 10 months or so) I was sick most of the time and couldn't really tell when I had gluten. But now I can definitely tell and get bad reactions when I eat gluten (which is always accidental or...
