  1. I did buy a bottle of Macellan and I love it.
  2. You wouldn't have had a reaction yet, as they are now in the process of changing from corn to wheat. I have written Glenfiddich but did not receive an answer. Like you I prefer single malts, but can't always afford them. However, I will rite Glenlivet and see if they add the color.
  3. I follow the directions on the Libby's can only I do not make a crust but add 1/4 more gluten-free flour mixture than the recipe calls for. It gets rave reviews and everyone likes it better without the crust. It cuts fine and stands up on its own, just like it had a crust.
  4. I am including all the correspondance that I have from the Famous Grouse Scotch whiskey. In a nutshell, Scotch is distilled and then carmel coloring is added to the finished product to provide a nice golden color. That caramel color was always made from corn but is now in the process of being made from wheat. The UK says the residual gluten is below their...
  5. Today I went to Brios in Tysons 1 in the new area where Coastal Flats is. They were very very understanding of gluten and offered me a wide varity of meals to choose from. Their marinades and salad dressings are made from scratch and the manager was very knowledgable of the ingredients. She even asked if I had additional food allergies! I had the wood grilled...
  6. I use Mychelle skin care products. You can get them at Whole Foods or at www.mychelleusa.com They are all gluten free and natural and very good.
  7. You're right Tim. Ruth Chris was a good place to go. Much more gluten friendly than Mortons!!! An add on to Harrys Essential Grill, I went again and they brought my soup with croutons floating in it. And even had a big G written down for gluten free! In my chicken salad, I found a piece of bread crust. I didn't eat and won't be back for a while. this was...
  8. You're not so far away that you can't come back for a visit! We miss you!!!
  9. Today we went to lunch at the Buffalo Wing Factory and I had wings out for the first time in over 2 1/2 years! I asked for the manager and showed him my cards. He brought all the ingredients they use, Cattlemens BBQ sauce, Franks Hot Sauce and Cisco butter stuff. I knew the first two were gluten free and saw the allergy statement on the Cisco said contains...
  10. I bought NuStevia at Whole Foods. It's in a purple box and says on the back that it contains no gluten, wheat, soy, yeast, milk synthetics, artificial colors or flavors, preservatives, saccharin, aspartame, sucralose or artificial sweetners. I also buy the Stevia Plus brand as it has inulin in it and try to use 2 packs of that a day and the rest I use the...
  11. Hi everyone, Here is the response I received today from Lemonaise: Teri - My name is Norm Ives and your e-mail could not have come at a better time. I had received an e-mail from another Lemonaise fan who also has celiac disease so took time yesterday to research and find a definitive answer. The ingredient in question was the distilled vinegar which...
  12. Ate today in a new restaurant on Route 7 where Fedoras used to be then it was Restaurant 7. Now it is the Essential Grille and has a lot of organic food in an upscale setting. I gave the waiter my card and could see him, the manager and the chef discussing it. He came back and told me 99% iof the food I could order! I had red pepper and crab soup and chicken...
  13. This is how to read a Kraft label. Once you check it out you will realize that Kraft is our best friend. Open Original Shared Link
  14. Thank you! I'm a Whole Foods junkie and will pick some up!
  15. That's good to know. I have been using TEX and K-PAC and wrote to both companies. Artec which makes TEX is owned by L'Oreal and they called me and said they would send me a list of ingredients and to take it to my doctor to see if it has gluten or not. Now, I didn't realize my doctor is also a chemist! So, guess I'll scratch them off my list. K-Pac never...
  16. I ordered the bar soap, liquid soap, lotion and bubble bath. I love everything but the bubble bath which didn't work. My hands (which were covered with cracks and eczema stuff and really in bad shape) cleared up within days! I am sold. Next I want to try the shampoo and conditioner if it's safe for color treated hair. I got the coupon too!
  17. When I do that and go back to viewing posts, I click on show active topics for today and then I can see all them, including the ones I have missed. It works well too, when you go to view new posts and there's 4 pages and you only have 5 minutes. Hope this helps!
  18. My dad died from pancreatitis. He was always ill every night after eating and only 56 when he died. I wonder if he was an undiagnosed celiac? Guess I'll never know.
  19. I eat Mission brand tortillas also. They are very careful and take their gluten-free statement seriously. I wrote Whole Foods about their corn tortillas and was told they produce them on the same lines as their flour tortillas so they are NOT gluten free. It just shows that it is good to check before you chomp.
  20. Well, I came home today and ate a lot of the Green Mountain Gringo hot salsa. Aside from a burning tongue and some gas (normal for such hot food), I had no reaction. So, I'm back to square one with the mystery gluten. Maybe it was the frozen chopped green peppers. Maybe they flour the belts they ride on. I don't know and probably won't ever know but at...
  21. The Clan Thompson is for the states only, not Canada. Sorry!
  22. I just went on the website and got their list. I also just called them and they said all their gluten free items are made on dedicated lines. The Stax are made in a separate facility but the others share a facility with gluten items but they keep them separate and do their best to avoid cross contamination. Those dedicated lines are never used for their chips...
  23. Well, I've been re-eating everything I had on Saturday except the salsa. That will be tomorrow. I realize it could have been a "bug', but with such typical celiac disease symptoms I am just not sure. So, I will come home from work tomorrow and eat a couple of teaspoons full of the salsa and let everyone know one way or another. I did go out and buy Amys salsa...
  24. I have seen them both. One is a 3 ring binder that is heavy and must be replaced each year as products change suppliers, the other is a lightweight palm program that is constantly checked and rechecked and updated and fits in your purse when you go grocery shopping. I have the palm. It's great! It even includes some restaurants and safe choices to order...
  25. Their statement is dated December of 2004 so I would think their move has definitely been completed by now... The label still says gluten free. It also lists apple cider vinegar but not 'distilled". I don't know, I hate when this happens and you try to figure out what in the world caused it. It's the only thing not previously used that I ate except for...
