  1. Can you go with crowns instead? Much less risk if you have osteoporosis. I do have osteoporosis and crowns on a couple of my teeth were not possible so I ended up with a partial instead and eight crowns on the ones that could be crowned.
  2. Can you get a second opinion or a referral to an endocrinologist? Your doctor should be addressing these issues. Lots of thyroid knowledgeable folks her so hopefully someone who knows more than I do about it will give some input for you soon.
  3. The diverticulosis wasn't a misdiagnosis (that was poorly worded), I had diverticuli thoughout my entire large intestine. The GI doctor said it was the most extensive case he had ever seen. After I had been gluten free for a couple of years I had a repeat colonoscopy and they had almost totally resolved. I also can't do psyllium or flax don't know if that...
  4. Being gluten free is not going to effect testing for anything other than celiac so I would stick with it. Get your vitamin and mineral levels done at the very least and if you are still having GI issues do have those checked out to make sure you don't have something else going on. What are you eating and drinking? Are you eating in the caf or a lot of processed...
  5. The other one is Biaggis, or spelled something like that. It is an italian restaurant so I would ask a whole lot of questions before I went, but that is just me. There is also another real upscale place in Seneca Falls called the Hotel Clarence. It is the old Gould Hotel. I talked at length with someone there but my son wanted to go to Outback. I haven't...
  6. I missed that. I agree if she/he has been gluten-free for that long then it would be time to try if oats are really missed.
  7. FDA regs state that if it just says vinegar on the label then it would be apple cider vinegar. Malt vinegar is not safe but would be listed as such. Distilled vinegar is considered safe for us but a few of us will react to distilled gluten grains. I have never had Clamato so can't say if it is safe for sure or not.
  8. Welcome to the board. If you were marsh 2 you likely have celiac even though your blood tests were negative. And yes I also had constant problems with my skin. In addition to the type of lesions you are dealing with I also had DH. All skin issues resolved after I went gluten free but it took a bit of time and avoiding iodine. You may want to go gluten free...
  9. I'm close to the Rochester area and we had a great and safe meal at Outback last week. I am always leary of restaraunts but was very pleased. They even asked if it was okay to bring regular bread for the gluten eater at the table. I have also had good luck with PF Changs at Eastview, there are also two other restaurants in eastview that do gluten free but...
  10. I don't have any advice for you but I am the same way. I just never really get hungry. At least you eat in the morning, that is good and the advice to eat small meals or snacks throughout the day may be helpful. Since you have blood sugar issues keeping a protein snack like nuts or a hard boiled egg to have along with some gluten-free pretzels or crackers...
  11. If you are new to the diet you may want to wait until you are well healed before you try oats. When you do the best way to try is to have the item at least once a day for a week. It can take a while for a reaction to build up and you want to know for sure one way or the other.
  12. Please note, do not under any circumstances give a child pet worm medicine. (NOt that I think Mommida was suggesting that). Go to your doctor for a stool test if you think parasites may be an issue.
  13. It will likely be a while before you are feeling better. 'Going out with a bang' isn't really a good idea but what is done is done. I hope your feeling better soon but you really spiked those antibodies with your gluten feast so it will be a little while before they calm down. You may crave gluten and be a bit moody for a bit but hang tough and don't give...
  14. I use 'Perfect Coat' White Pearl with aloe and coconut oil, don't know if that might be something that might work. It is a combo shampoo and conditioner for dogs but don't know if it would have enough conditioning for you. Maybe ask your vets advice also.
  15. They should have full celiac panels and if they choose to and have symptoms an endoscopy might be something to think about. Do be aware of false negatives so if any family members have symptoms, even ones not GI related like depression, skin issues, fibro or arthritis for examples, a trial of the diet is a good idea even if tests are negative. In my family...
  16. It can be easiest to go with as much whole unprocessed food as you can for a bit. Fresh meats and chicken, rice, potatos, fruit and veggies are all going to be safe in their natural state. Some companies are really good at labeling, Kraft and Unilever are two of them. If you don't see gluten listed it is gluten free. For pasta I usually get Thai Kitchen rice...
  17. These should get you started. When you go to the Pubmed links you should be able to find more. Using the words 'celiac' and 'neurological' or 'psychiatric' should bring up more articles. My psychiatrist was quite interested in learning more also. There are studies that have said that depressed patients who don't respond to meds should be screened for celiac...
  18. Dee, I am so sorry the appointment didn't go well. I think many of us have had the same disappointment and anger with doctors. I have been diagnosed since 2002 and still don't trust them. I agree with Irish, you need to eat period. Even if it goes right through you. Plain food, perhaps plain baked or sweet potatoes and plain broiled chicken or fish, very...
  19. It sounds like you have neuro issues from the celiac. You do not want those to progress so please be strict with the diet. Not only should you not cheat you should take great care to avoid even small amounts of cross contamination.
  20. Sounds like you have a good doctor. I hope you heal quickly. Hopefully she let you know that all 1st degree relatives should also be tested even if they don't seem to have any issues.
  21. I am a double DQ9 and had a lot of issues before diagnosis including severe neurological impact. In the US not all doctors consider it a celiac related gene, it is thought to be more associated with RA (which I was thought to have and is now in remission). In the Middle and Far East it is considered a celiac associated gene. I don't know about the DQ6 but...
  22. I take cod liver oil (Nature Made as it is soy free) In the nutrients it does not list iodine. I have DH and it has never given me a problem. Please note that once you have been lesion free for a while you can add iodine back in and should as it is an important nutrient. While iodine can keep the antibodies active it doesn't cause the antibodies. So once...
  23. Rosacea is red and blotchy but wouldn't come one day and be gone the next from what I understand about it.
  24. Only you can decide if it is worth the pain. If your body reacts strongly to adding gluten back in you do have your answer whether your doctor acknowledges it or not. I had to do two challenges, one was done as part of the diagnostic process with my allergist (who guided me in an elimination diet) I reacted badly on the third day of the challenge and that...
  25. So glad to hear she is doing well and the doctors had some common sense. I hope she continues to thrive.
