  1. Sorry, gluten intolerance will not be determined by an allergist either. Only a wheat allergy would be determined. And if you were to ask, I would say that most people who are gluten intolerant or celiac do NOT actually have an allergy to wheat. Allergies are an IgE response by the body. Celiacs have an IgA response. I'm not sure if there is something...
  2. Perhaps we'll go with someone elses funnies then: When Good Dogs Go and Crossbreed Pointer + Setter = Poinsetter, a traditional Christmas pet Kerry Blue Terrier + Skye Terrier = Blue Skye, a dog for visionaries Great Pyrenees + Dachshund = Pyradachs, a puzzling breed Pekingnese + Lhasa Apso = Peekasso, an abstract dog Irish Water...
  3. I have made lasagne with the Tinkyada noodles precooked and not. When I precooked, I thought it tasted just great but my noodles were falling apart. When I did not precook, I thought it tasted just great but the whole thing was just a little too dry. I had added a little extra water (perhaps 1/2 cup) but I make my sauce and it is a little on the thick...
  4. My tanks been on empty since the beginning of the year . . . running on fumes so to speak. Where's Richard when you need him. Nikki, you were the best tassel twirler. Can you rumage up Richard?
  5. Life lessons learned from a dog 1. If you stare at someone long enough, eventually you'll get what you want. 2. Don't go out without ID. 3. Be direct with people; let them know exactly how you feel by pissing on their shoes. 4. Be aware of when to hold your tongue, and when to use it. 5. Leave room in your schedule for a good nap. 6. Always...
  6. Oh Susie . . . I'm so sorry and sad for you. You have my tears and prayers and hugs. and yes, it sounds as though it was the right time . . . like I said, a couple of days early is better than one day too late and it sounds like she was really starting to struggle. Love to you and Annie!
  7. I'm not familiar with the world of "dairy free" but since it (Crisco butter flavor) doesn't call out milk in an alergy warning, doesn't that make it OK? I just also wanted to pass on that this last time I made cookies, I save back some of the dough, formed into balls on wax paper (not touching each other) and put them in the freezer. Now that they are...
  8. I always make a big batch of pancakes on the weekend and freeze the leftovers (between sheets of wax paper). . . I'm assuming you could use egg replacer to make these. I also have frozen precooked turkey sausage links. So we have pancakes heated up in the microwave or a sausage rolled up in the pancake (kind of gives that sausage biscuit feel). Also, when...
  9. It shows up as DingoGirl . . . regardless of who is posting.
  10. I have not heard any news but perhaps it was posted on OMG. Carla and Bev were suppose to be in New York at approximately the same time. . . did they manage to meet up? Has anyone heard? (or hoid?)
  11. I noticed that you didn't use any eggs. I think this may be your problem. Are eggs an issue? I also use the tollhouse cookie recipe with just a few modifications: 3/4 cup butter 1/4 cup shortening 3/4 cup brown sugar 3/4 cup granular sugar 2 eggs 1 Tablespoon vanilla 2 1/4 cup gluten-free flour (I use Annalise Robert's blend) 1 1/2 teaspoon...
  12. Susie, excellent red-neck pick-up lines and unfortunately, I know (and am related to) a couple that would probably use those. Sarah, so glad to see you back. You've got a lot of reading to do. Did you know that Jess is our new Queen? And we will all be singing scientific musicals! Glad to hear Ezra is doing well. Wish we could figure out what is going...
  13. Do you think they are brave enough to venture onto the silly thread? I think your only possible threat might come from your fellow Pennsylvanian, Amanda, and she seems to like you. Plus, I think you could easily bribe her with chocolate covered gummy bears.
  14. I posted this last summer on another thread before I was brave enough to jump into the silly vortex. Some of you probably saw it, but it is one of my favoUrites and bears repeating for those that didn't see it. INSTRUCTIONS FOR GIVING A CAT A PILL 1) Hold cat firmly in left arm as if holding a baby. Position right forefinger and thumb on either side...
  15. Patti, you do know that you are the reason for the odd influx of fluid weather . . . what with you having 10,000 posts and all. Mum's the word . . . we would hate for them to kick you out of the state.
  16. Emily, what you need is a good acronym . . . You coud be a B.U.M. (Backside Unmentionables Manager) or an A.S.S. (Anal Services Specialist) Seeing how Amanda is newly married and her new husband will be WITH her . . . I strongly discourage checking out the cowboys, farmers, and ag guys . . . or at the very least, be sneaky about it.
  17. Dora the Explorer Cinnamon Stars (or something like that). General Mills will list their gluten so read their labels . . . I think they have a new one coming out, kind of like Kix and it's got Tigger and/or Pooh on it. I haven't seen it yet, but that's the rumor.
  18. I used to be a hoverer but bad knees now (thanks for making me bring that up again). We engineers (in my case former) call it the toilet paper gasket when we line our seats. Oh yes . . . with multi-coloUred flow charts.
  19. Ahhhh, a worthy question for Regis Philbin Peter. I'm waiting in anticipation for his answer.
  20. Wow Alex!!! Mighty brave of you!!! Here, we thought Emily was brave for measuring his inseam, but I think you just took the (gluten-free) cake . . . and the rest of us thank you for your sacrifice.
  21. Thoroughly enjoyed your phrasing . . . We got a wii . . . not that I'm into that sort of thing, but hubby has been enjoying it . . . it was for the kids.
  22. This one made me laff out loud.
  23. I always called them liquid burps, myself . . . but she spits up a mouthful. She does not gag so I do not consider it vomitting. She says she is not burping but I'm not sure she can adequately explain . . . she says it just comes up. She spits it out. Sometimes she says it tastes bad. If she has just recently eaten, it might have a little bit of solids...
  24. Memo: To any board moderator Subject: People who can't correctly title their topics Patti or Amanda or Bev (anybody else?), Can you guys fix topic titles? I wrote Ttg instead of tTG and stuff like that really annoys me. Plus, I don't want to get a post/PM from Tom telling me that I wrote it wrong (heehee, yankin' your chain, Tom!!)
