  1. I did some research on the school lunch program. Once every three weeks, they have nachos supreme. The school system's dietician informed me that yes, indeed, it was gluten free. Everything she would get comes prepackaged so I wouldn't have to worry about safe handling amongst the cafeteria workers. She was thrilled to buy the hot lunch once every three...
  2. TINK! TINK! TINK! <knife tapping on water goblet> Ahem *throat clearing* May I have everyone's attention? I have just discovered that Patti has now posted more times than Scott the Board Creator/Administrator. She is now the overall #1 poster!!!!!! She has MORE opinions than anyone else on this forum! Congratulations Patti . ...
  3. If your just doing a trial, I would initially stick with the mixes. We really like Pamela's baking and pancake mix. We have used it for pancakes and muffins. I make a big batch on the weekend, freeze the leftovers (separated with wax paper) and then my kids just microwave them for pancakes during the week. Same with the muffins. It also has a recipe...
  4. Reporting for duty!! Had book club tonight which means I had to go out drink wine, eat brownies, and gossip. Pay off your credit card but save about $30 for a water bra or chicken cutlets. Here's a Open Original Shared Link so you can decide which is best . . . hope you didn't miss the part on page 2 where water bras may explode ...
  5. It's probably the food . . . she's never been fed so well. I know she had chicken the other day. She's hangin' around for the grub! Lordy, I've been getting ready to post . . . got caught on the phone with a friend for *gasp* 2 1/2 hours and look at all that's been written. Will now have to read . . .
  6. Glad you got a little monetary relief, Susie . . . chicken flavoUred toothpaste all around!!! Oh and Erica, glad to see that Emily didn't scare you off!!
  7. Ursa Major is right, if you've been gluten-free for 2 1/2 months, your blood test next week would probably be negative. He would need to be on gluten for a couple of months for a blood test. I'm assuming the naturopath was planning on a blood test . . .?
  8. Well, that explains a lot, doesn't it . . . whose turn is it to use it today? That video was egg silent!
  9. Also, just because it calls out milk (or milk proteins) doesn't mean it is NOT safe for celiacs . . . Not all celiacs need to go dairy free.
  10. How long was your trial? . . . a coule of days? weeks? months? Are you seeing a GI? Some (I think very rare) docs may give you a diagnosis based on diet results. My son's GI would but we did the gene test and my daughter already has a positive diagnosis, but I know the doc would give him a positive diagnosis based on the results of a trial diet and family...
  11. I was out browsing and noticed that you didn't get any responses so I thought I would bump this up for you and also give you a few things to check . . . First, what was her initial Ttg and when was it done? Has it gone down? Does she have her own toaster? Are you using any cast iron pans that were used for gluten items? Scratches on your nonstick...
  12. I keep them in the fridge. We have a second fridge that USED to be the beer/soda fridge. Now its the 147 different kinds of flour fridge A friend of mine that went through this process a few years back recommended it if you've got the room since the flours are so expensive. Hers got buggy. I have done a lot of experimenting with a lot of different kinds...
  13. Crayola's Model Magic is OK, too... However, it's pricier than play-doh and is more of a modelling clay that you then let harden up into whatever you are building. My kids are more into that kind of thing at the moment. You could probably store it for awhile - just don't know how long. The colors are nice/vivid.
  14. Just wanted to chime in . . . whereas it could definitely be celiac, it may be some other type of food intolerance. My daughter reacts with vomitting/spitting up when she has something with a lot of blue dye in it. I know someone else whose child reacts that way to dairy. Both of those are somewhat of an immediate reacation (within an hour? of ingestion...
  15. Amanda, If you can't switch departments (or come up with some other way to make your work environment better), you do need to put things in perspective. You've been there 5 years and that seems like a long time because you're 25!!! I'm guessing it's the first real job (not counting the fast food places or temp jobs or whatever). But look at it this way...
  16. The area of the small intestine that is damaged by celiac is the same area that processes lactose. So if there is a lot of damage, the body will not be able to process lactose. The normal symptoms of lactose intolerance is very similar to some people's celiac symptoms . . . diarrhea, abdominal pain. As the gut heals, the ability to process lactose returns...
  17. OMGawwwd!!!! I KNEW I shouldn't have shared that information with you!!!!! You're just going to keep throwing it back in my face!!!!! I'm sensitive you know! Why, I'm as fragile as a . . . breakable thingy. You're trying to get rid of ME!!! Just like you got rid of Sarah and Erica and Daughter of the Light! Well, I won't go so easily, see . . ...
  18. By the way, what did you guys do to scare off Sarah? Emily, do you have anything that you need to confess?
  19. Exactly!!!! . . . that purses his chicken lips!
  20. The key is to NOT watch the video but to LISTEN. There are several artists that I just can't stand to watch perform but I like their music. I can't stand to watch Mick Jagger. True Weight??!! . . . .Gahhh!!! Banish the thought!!!! Not like they make you step on a scale. Subtract at least 5!
  21. The one that I worked at did that, too. That was over 25 years ago . . . yes, I worked there when I was four . . . I was hoping they weren't doing that anymore!
  22. Here is a list of companies that do not hide the gluten in their labeling. This means they will call out wheat, rye, barley and oats on their labels and you don't have to worry about the generic "natural flavoring". Kraft is one of the big companies that do not hide their gluten but there are many others. Open Original Shared Link Envirokids Amazon...
  23. Happy 2nd Anniversary Carla! What is that? The ricecake anniversary or the popcorn anniversary?
  24. What!!??!! I'm a Classic??!!?? But I'm only 43!!
  25. I have heard of a sprinkling of Olives here and there. That one's still around. Doris . . . nope, don't know of any young Dorises. Petite . . . *******Snooooorrrrrtttt*******
