  5. Talking to a neighbor after my daughter was diagnosed (three years ago) . . . Me: "She can't have wheat bread, pasta, cookies . . . blah, blah, blah" Neighbor: "Well, she can have Wonder bread." I've come acrossed it many times . . . people don't understand that "flour" is made from wheat.
  6. I'm just going to throw in my two cents . . . I have used the Betty Crocker cake mix a few times. I have never had a problem when I make cupcakes with it. When I try to make an actual cake, I overcook it every time . . . it could be operator error . . . it could be by the time the middle cooks, the outside is too done. I WILL still use Betty . . . but...
  7. We hound our friends about the thumb size of the men they are dating.
  8. I've had to do this too . . . sometimes immediately if the radiologist is there and sees them before I've left. Last year I got called back in the same week. I've had additional films and ultrasounds done. I also have dense fibrocystic breasts. I tell the rad tech that I'm dense (*cough*)and to squeeze 'em good so I don't have to come back . . . ...
  9. Pasta . . . our whole family likes Tinkyada and it comes in a variety of shapes. It even has a kid version with pasta shaped like cars, rockets, stars, etc. My daughter likes to eat the gluten-free Van's waffles (if you get these, make sure they are gluten-free because they sell other types, too) with cream cheese . . . and lets face it, it really is...
  10. I got a notice for jury duty . . . grumble, grumble . . . moan.
  11. Like debmom said, the Udi's bread is great and will produce a nice sandwich. My daughter went gluten free at the age of six and has really gotten out of the habit of eating sandwiches. Her lunches include a small container of peanut butter with gluten-free pretzels that she dips into the pb. She used to take corn thins (similar to rice cakes but thinner...
  12. I was just waitin' around to see who would finally break down and post first . . . Yee-Haw!!!! . . . Very happy that you solved your riddle, Patti!!!! . . . I'm still working on Skeeter's.
  13. Oh . . . I never said I liked little kids!! <snort> Actually I do.
  14. Liz, what type of vendors are you thinking?? Restaraunts? Bakeries? Groceries? . . . as this makes a difference in what you should plan on making. I would also consider items that have the best shelf-life or can be frozen (either by you or the vendor - once again, depending on the type of vendor) and thawed easily without loss of quality. Also keep in...
  15. True . . . true . . . true. I looked into having a cookie business out of my home prior to my daughter's diagnosis. The Health Department (I live in Indiana) told me I needed to have a separate kitchen from my "home" kitchen. They told me that many people set up a second kitchen in their garages . . . . . . really?? a kitchen in my garage would...
  16. Ahhhh . . . a new phrase for our psilly dickshunary. Ckairenne . . . glad no one got hurt . . . and quite frankly, as bad as this sounds, that $440 price tag could have been a helluva lot worse, too. Psillies!!! I have been called back to my former preschool position!!! Did I tell you that I volunteered to be layed off?? . . . can't remember ...
  17. You never know . . . he could have the thumbs of a 20 yr old.
  18. Do better as in . . . get us a picture of said thumbs!!! . . . Just let him know that you have some phriends that want to see his thumbs . . . Use it as a way to introduce us to him . . . you can't keep us a secret, you know.
  19. I guess I'm going against the trend . . . I loved the sugar cookies (haven't had any of the other flavors). My daughter was able to actually eat a few (I hoarded most of them for myself) and she had no reaction. They are a crunchy cookie but I like some-types of crunchy cookies so I was good with that.
  20. Well, some things should be left for the second date.
  21. Hi Lisa!!! This was the pic you sent, right??? <snort>
  22. Hopefully, we're small/carry-on size . . . otherwise, Jess has to pay $25 to take us anywhere.
  23. Found it at my local Krogers (Indiana). When looking for it, think small (about cake mix box size) . . . not that big box of bisquick that you are used to seeing. I found it with the regular Bisquick but on a different shelf. It's a 1 lb package. Ingredients: Rice Flour, Sugar, Leavening (baking soda, sodium aluminum phosphate, monocalcium phosphate...
