  1. I have found potato starch at my local Whole Foods in the alternative flours section. I may have also seen it at my local Kroger's in the health food section. I would say that in most cases, substituting corn starch for potato starch would be fine. If the recipe already called for corn starch, then you might want to try a different starch or flour...
  2. Call and talk to them . . . it has been my experience that they will work with you. Last time I got called, I had a one year old and a three year old and a husband that traveled for work. No relatives living within a 4 hour radius. Nobody to babysit for the week that I was suppose to be available (sitting in the juror room at the courthouse). They scheduled...

  4. Here's my recipe for corndogs: https://www.celiac.com/gluten-free/index.ph...mp;#entry558296 I listed the recipe as I got it . . . and then added how I changed it. My kids love 'em.

  6. Tastes like . . . chicken. Is that funny here? Or is that a family thing. When ever anybody asked "what does it taste like?" the answer was always "tastes like chicken". My neighbor said that when her son was little, he didn't think he liked anything but chicken so they just put the word "chicken" in front of everything. When he asked what was...

  8. Was just reading the updates on this thread and decided that my post could be taken the wrong way . . . I meant to imply that my BIL prides himself on perfecting meals that they can both enjoy. The "challenge" being he will keep at it until its right!! Hope things are going well for you Kaki and hope you see how many members have supportive people...

  10. At the beginning it does seem overwhelming . . . after you've been at it for awhile, you'll realize it's not so bad. We have a mixed kitchen. However, all cooking and baking is gluten free. It's not that hard to convert your family favorites to gluten free. Many times it's a matter of switching brands on some of your ingredients (now we use La Choy...
  11. Patti . . . what does yer sign say in yer av??? Added Hugs for the best substandard poodle I ever knew . . . will always remember him in his snazzy winter cardigan.
  12. Wishbone is made by Unilever and they have this same policy. Just read the labels. My daughter eats the Kraft Ranch and Kraft Creamy Italian without any problems. Hidden Valley Ranch - Ranch dressing is also OK. You can buy it in the individual serving sizes . . . more expensive this way, of course . . . but this is what we keep with us when we travel...

    ARCHIVED Acid Reflux

My daughter was 6 at the age of diagnosis. It did take a lot longer to recover than I expected. About 6 months into it she had a major glutening. I don't know how much that added to our recovery time.
  14. About the time of my daughter's diagnosis, she became intolerant to blue food dye. Even after she was gluten free for a while, she was still pretty sensitive to it. She seems to tolerate it now, but I still don't let her have too much in any one sitting. Her reaction to it was very similar to gluten.
  15. RuhShell just called Peter "Peetah" on another thread . . . *giggle*

  17. Here's Leesuh's emoticon . . . I'm trying to figger out why it's not working in Leesuh's post.
  18. Ahoy thar SueZee, I am not familiar wif Mozerella Mozilla. Any pic that you select must be from a website. You can't use one of yer pics off yer own computer. You can use one of yer pics if it is on one of those photo sharing sites. What do you get when you right click on an image? Is there anything that gives the address of the pic? ...

  25. Well . . . that's interesting . . . opens up all kinds of doors, don't it??? So the question is . . . if I change my av, will this pic go away? . . . or does Celiac.com keep a record of it? (Can't be bothered to check now . . . it's lunch time!!!)
