  1. Hi Janet, Unfortunately, I became unemployed a LONG time ago. All the way back in 2004 to be exact. I have already been paying COBRA premiums for over 4 years now and was paying Cal-COBRA premiums from June 2008 - January 1st, 2009. I worked for Bank of America, who definitely has more than the 20 employees, however I know there is a section in the code...
  2. Just so I am clear, are you referring to each plan offered by the company? Like deductible $500 vs $1000? Are you familiar with which plan options are the best? Thank you for pointing that out
  3. "Zella - I don't think you are trying to start drama. In the past I have posted about my good experience with Kaiser and I have been pilloried so I am somewhat hesitant. The problem with posting positive experiences is that someone here will feel the need to bash Kaiser as soon as they read what I post and I don't want to start some silly tit for tat waste...
  4. I decided to start a separate thread to ask this question. I originally asked it in the I Hate Kaiser thread, however, I do not want it to seem that I have a bias towards any one health insurance company. A little recap: 1. I live in Fairfield, CA 2. I did have Health Net. My prior employer canceled their contract with Health Net. So, my only...

    ARCHIVED I Hate Kaiser!

I'm not really sure why the thought was that I would revive the thread to "get a rise out of someone". I really do need to weigh my options. Please explain how my first post, that revived this thread, made it sound that I was trying to stir up problems? Thank you. If anyone is a fan of Kaiser or any other HMO, I don't see what the problem is with...

    ARCHIVED I Hate Kaiser!

Takala, Thank you for posting. I can tell by what you typed that you experienced a lot of headaches with them. You sound like me when I talk about Bank of America. My friend has Kaiser. He just recently needed to get treated for an ear infection and WOW, it seemed like he had to jump through hoops. Something called an advice nurse (?) actually...
  7. Ghiradelli Dark Chocolate with Caramel... Oh man, a little too addicting. I had the WORST chocolate craving last night.. at 1AM.. and drove around to 5 different convenience stores looking for my fix I never found it But I did end up with two Toblerones. Oh man! Just realized I don't have anymore chocolate, again.. Why must it disappear so quickly...
  8. Okay, dually noted I tend to be the 1% who has the extreme reaction to things I ALWAYS hear, "Oh wow, we've NEVER had this happen before! We've only heard of this in the text books!" Yeah, so I'm spaaacial.. LOL! At least you know you're a fighter!! I, on the other hand, am the collapsing queen. After I had a cortisone injection in my lower back,...

    ARCHIVED I Hate Kaiser!

Thread revival!! =) Sooooo, raise of hands, who LOVES Kaiser? Okay, okay.. I kid. Kinda. So, I've got me a bit of dilemma, go with Kaiser or fight like the dickens for Aetna? Who would be the lesser of the two evils? I hear all these positive comments for Kaiser on such sites as Consumer Reports and J.D. Power & Associates - but...
  10. Excellent advice! So, mylanta on the tooshy makes the pain from the raw toosh, a lot better. See, I have learned so much! *gluten-free barium sulfate a MUST *nonionic iodine OR meds prescribed prior to the CT with contrast dye *supplements are key *Psyllium seed husks can help with fiber intake *mylanta on the toosh is a must
  11. Roda, I'm being lazy.. what is occult blood? Well, I'm turning 26 in May So, I've got a little ways to go before the recommended pre-screening age. BUT, it doesn't mean I should avoid getting poked around down yonder. Did you experience any problems from the polyp?
  12. I have to admit that my fiber intake could be better. I tend to eat a lot of protein, but often forget to add veggies or other important fiber containing foods. Psyllium seed husks sound like a good route and WOW, I haven't heard the term "black strap molasses" in a long time! Is that edible for Celiacs? If so, that sounds pretty good about now. Thank...
  13. The doctor mailed her a piece of paper that said: "slightly low thyroid level, check in three months" That was it. No other follow-up or further information was provided. Yeah, I would say anything over 10 viles and you just sort of stop caring.. haha
  14. It is quite possible that I had everything under the sun tested.. So, maybe she actually had the right amount. I'll have to find the results for my panel.. now I'm curious
  15. Well, she had the tests done about 5 months ago.. So, I'm hoping they would have all come back. We put a call in to the doctor to find out if maybe she forgot to send all of the test results. At the time of the Celiac panel she also had her cholesterol checked and a couple other routine blood tests. She said that they filled 6 viles of blood. I remember when...
  16. Thank you for the information. I will definitely look into this with my Mom. If there is a discrepancy with the amount she paid, then I would hope they would be willing to give her the right tests equal to the cost of what she has already paid for. There's still hope yet! Just to clarify, I don't want her or my Dad just to get tested for...
  17. Huh, okay. I don't know how much just one of the tests usually cost. Does the $197.50 seem too much for the TSH?
  18. Good point. I have a feeling it will be even harder to convince her to do that. She doesn't have the classic symptoms, therefore she sees no reason to investigate this whole "Celiac" business. She does her best to support me, but doesn't want to incur the expense to find out if she has it. My Dad is the same way. She swears he gave it to me and he swears...
  19. LOL!!!!!!!!! I thought it didn't look right Oh happy days! The doctor wrote on a piece of paper, check thyroid in 3 months. <---- that was it. Great, I'm going to have a field day trying to get my Mom to have the right tests. The one "Celiac" blood test cost her $197.50.. I just say this because she makes a big hooplah about how much it cost...
  20. According to a conversation that I had with the SDI folks, they stated that Celiac in itself is not considered disabling. They require for you to submit all medical records and then they take an overall look at your situation. So, if you have enough qualifying events THEN you become eligible.. Once you receive SDI, then you have to submit doctor notes every...
  21. You better not be joking, Miss DingoGirl!! I see "things" too... I have a black entity that appears before certain things happen. It floats around my room and then after the thing happens, it goes away. I've had other things appear... but I don't wanna go into any further detail because I sound like I'm nutso! But yea, another option for these spider...
  22. I fall under the same category.. Er, I did, prior to dx. I still have severe mood swings and some focus issues, but I am A LOT better. Prior to dx, I'd go from doing something extremely stupid to acting like an angel, to lying about the whole doing something stupid part.. I was really falling apart. I would say that once my other symptoms of extreme...
  23. I had a blast reading this to my Mom. GFD, NHL, IDA, BMD... IDK my BFF Jill... Great article and thank you for sharing! There is still hope for the white coats - wooo!
  24. Woo, the beginning is HARD. Just remember this - the people who offer you the food, don't have to pay the price because of it not being what it is "supposed" to be. If they get offended, so what! They will cry for 10 minutes, hold a grudge for a little while, but if you eat that thing that is contaminated - you will pay the price much longer than...
  25. My Mom had the Celiac blood panel. Or so I thought. When looking at her results, the only thing on the piece of paper is: TSH 3rd Generation 11305 Diagnoses: 1 degree - 244.9 degrees = Hypothyroidism .... That's it. Now, I did do a search within this forum and on Google, however I am wondering if doctors use different terminology and just...
