  1. If all else fails, you can mail order from El Peto in Ontario. Not sure if you've ever heard of them; but I mail order things like gluten-free hamburger buns and gluten-free bread from them occasionally. But, they also sell Tinkyada pasta. Open Original Shared Link Dianne
  2. I have the same problem with my red blood cells being too large. I always have a low RBC count result when I get my blood checked. So, I'm interested to know the reason for this, too. I have anemia, too - not sure if there's a connection there. B12 is low, so I take a sublingual B12 along with Floravit iron. Vitamin D level is deficient (taking D3 supps)...
  3. I use Tinkyada lasagna noodles, too (I'm in Canada). I've found that if I cook the lasagna noodles for just 10 minutes (no longer), they don't get too soft when you bake the lasagna. One thing I found; one time I froze one half of the pre-baked lasagna to eat at a later date; and when I re-heated the frozen lasagna, the noodles did get pretty soft. It was...
  4. Thank you for the names of the tests, Gemini. I sympathize with what you're going through. I've developed burning mouth a couple of years ago, and along with the gum problems, it's no fun at all! I'll ask my doctor for the tests. Oh, I should mention (if I didn't already), that I've noticed 'some' improvements (not total, though) with my gums since being...
  5. I can identify with what you all are saying. I've had gum problems for years, and it gets worse off and on (and I take really good care of my teeth). My gums have receded quite badly, and I'm only 46. I was just at the dentist yesterday, and had my cleaning, and my teeth are very sensitive today. Also I mentioned my burning mouth, sore gums to the dentist...
  6. Acne may be a symptom of metabolic disorders. And I'm a big metabolic disorder. I'm not having as much of a problem with it since I started thyroid hormone replacement since being diagnosed with Hashimoto's. Acne is a pretty common symptom with Hashimoto's - autoimmune thyroiditis; which is common in conjunction with celiac disease. Just throwing out that...
  7. I have gastroparesis - well, I don't have an official diagnosis of it. It started quite a few years after being diagnosed with celiac; my digestion slowed to a crawl; and shortly after, I was diagnosed with Hashimoto's (last year). I've got many other hormonal imbalances, too, in relation to hypopituitary. I'm hoping the slow digestion is actually more of...
  8. I'm not sure how the comment thing works, so I responded to ohiovonda on her page in her comments. Just in case Ohiovonda is checking my comments for her comments to my comments.

    :D

  9. I was reading some of your older posts about Thyroid medications. I amcurious how that worked out for you?

  10. Wasn't that cool? But, we have to check to make sure it's manufactured in a gluten-free facility, right? Besides, I don't live in the U.S., and I don't believe we have Schwan's here in Canada, so I doubt I'd be able to try it anyway. Darn.
  11. Hi Crystal, Have you been tested for thyroid problems? Hashimoto's, to be specific. I had/still have occasionally acid reflux and hiatal hernia (the latter which I, of course, still have... I imagine - lol). And I think those were symptoms of my Hashimotos (which I was diagnosed with a year ago). You have to have tsh, Free T3, Free T4, and TPO antibodies...
  12. ohsotired, I have blood work done every 8 weeks, or so, at this point. Sometimes every 6 weeks. I have to keep checking my thyroid levels, ferritin, and I'm having a bunch of tests done for adrenals/pituitary function soon. Let us know if you go ahead with the iron infusions.
  13. That just might be part of the problem, though. Apparently, you can get 'immune' (I can't think of a better word for it right now) to the over-use of chapstick. iow, constant use can make your lips even more dry, and you *need* the chapstick - vicious cycle. Besides, I hear chapstick isn't gluten-free (?). I don't use any lip balm, at all, anymore, and...
  14. Hi, Have you been tested for Hashimoto's? Constipation, acid, stomach problems, fibromyalgia were all symptoms of Hashis (autoimmune hypothyroid) (and combo of celiac, probably) for me. Finally figured that out after ~10+ years being gluten free... Also, did they check for h. pylori?
  15. Hi, I'm anemic, too - when I was diagnosed with celiac in 97, my ferritin was 0. After more than ten years, I only managed to bring it up to 21 (while remaining strictly gluten-free). Then I was diagnosed with Hashis in 08, and it became imperative that I bring the ferritin up in order to absorb the thyroid hormone that I'm taking. Hate to bore you with the...
  16. That's odd - the link works for me. Maybe you can copy and paste it? Or, you can google 'acid alkaline foods' and you'll get lots of information that way. The PH paper (the one I get) comes in a dispenser (like scotch tape), and it also comes with a chart so that you can compare the colour of the paper with the colours on the chart to determine whether...
  17. I find heartburn to be one of the worst things to take. My heartburn used to be excruciating (I still get it occasionally), and my doctor prescribed the usual medication, but I never took it. I hear the medication can make you worse in the long run because we *need* stomach acid in order to digest our food. I found out I was acidic (as opposed to alkaline...
  18. Skylarker, thanks for posting. I have (so far as I know from the testing I've had) hypopituitary (secondary adrenal insufficiency) (along w/Hashis, celiac). The only things I've had tested are thyroid panel (and antibodies), ACTH (which was below range), AM cortisol, and some sex hormones. Progesterone is low, DHEAS is low, and prolactin is high. What...
  19. Most of the symptoms described, for adrenal insufficiency, are similar to what's been happening to me over the years. My health finally crashed (adrenal crisis, I believe); and I'm finding out not only do I have Celiac and Hashimoto's, but I am hypopituitary (meaning my pituitary is not producing enough of certain hormones to signal different glands in my...
  20. Hi Kelly, Are you on thyroid replacement? I'm on desiccated thyroid hormone for my Hashimoto's, and one of my hypo-symptoms is 'air hunger' - like I can't breathe very well, or get enough air. Do you think you're currently on the hypo side? Just wanted to add on, that I've anxiety, panic, oh just lots of problems, too; and I recently found out my ACTH...
  21. Hi Invisible Crumb, I live in Canada, too. Thanks for taking the time to post your information.
  22. I started having panic attacks about 25 years ago; mild anxiety before that, and severe anxiety once the panic attacks started. Even when I was a teen, I could feel the anxiety in my stomach, too - and had insomnia, worrying about things. Fast forward to now, and not only do I have celiac, but I have Hashimoto's, and just found out I have adrenal insufficiency...
  23. Do you remember the name of antibodies? Can you post your thyroid numbers, if you don't mind? There are two thyroid antibodies we're supposed to check - one for Hashimoto's, and one for Graves', I think. I've only had the TPO (Hashimoto's) antibodies tested, myself (should get the other one done, too). With Hashimoto's we can fluctuate between hypo and hyper...
  24. That's what I needed to know... and it wasn't what I wanted to hear, but what can you do? I just wish they labelled their boxes about the cross-contamination possibility. Thanks very much, Mike. Also, interesting to hear that the crispy rice w/berries doesn't bother you, jkmunchkin. And, that's unnerving about the oatie-o, Guhlia - I guess it's evident...
  25. No, I haven't heard from them, yet. I think it's not good news. I can't really determine whether it's bothering me, or not. I hope I don't have to give it up; but I'm detecting some nausea lately, and I'm not sure whether to pinpoint it to the cereal. I think I should give it up for awhile, and see how I feel - I had a feeling it was too good to be true...
