ARCHIVED Dosing Thyroid Medication
Di-gfree replied to Di-gfree's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Thanks for the helpful information. I -
I really need help with this. Many of you are taking Armour (I'm taking the equivalent called Thyroid (in Canada)). I started in early July and worked my way up to 60 mgs by the time I had my first bloodwork done (so that was a 6-week period of time). A week prior to that I spoke to my doctor to get him to add some tests to my blood requisition and he was...

ARCHIVED Doctor Ordered Mri Of Brain
Di-gfree replied to MyMississippi's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
I responded above about the hypothyroid. I actually have some of the same symptoms as you've mentioned. They come and go, too. I also have partial deafness in both ears (since my early 20's - I'm now 45). I've had vibrating sensations for about 10 years now. And lately (since I started thyroid replacement), my legs feel heavy and weak. (I'm thinking I might... -
ARCHIVED Doctor Ordered Mri Of Brain
Di-gfree replied to MyMississippi's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
This screams thyroid problems to me. My doctor wanted me to get an MRI to investigate the possibility of MS several years ago. I declined - denial perhaps - I've just got too much on my plate right now. Turns out I think most of my symptoms are because of Hashimoto's (that I just been diagnosed with). I did have the low B12, as well; so clearly have problems... -

ARCHIVED Fibromyalgia And The Gluten-free Diet
Di-gfree replied to home-based-mom's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
I've had fibromyalgia symptoms for almost 15 years (I also have celiac). Was just diagnosed with Hashimoto's (and have hypothyroidism). Apparently one of the symptoms of hypoT is sore muscles (fibromyalagia); so I'm hoping once I've been on my thyroid replacement long enough, those symptoms will go away (I hear it does for some people). Not saying she has... -
Hi, I was diagnosed with anemia, for quite some time before I finally relented and got tested for celiac. I would say I was in denial, big time, for awhile there. He might as well rule out celiac as a cause, if that's what you suspect? The things we tell ourselves, huh?

ARCHIVED Hernia Surgeries Anyone?
Di-gfree replied to cymrudenver's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Yes, I have hernias. Have never had surgery on them, though. About 15 years ago, I developed a hernia in my groin area. It bothers me when I've done heavy lifting, or when I'm tired (which is alot of the time). I also have a hiatal hernia. Now that you mention it, I'd have to attribute my hernias to weak muscle tone probably due to my known auto-immunes... -
ARCHIVED Gluten Free/gastroparesis Diet
Di-gfree replied to Jaimepsalm63's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Sorry to hear of your problems. I've been diagnosed with celiac for about 11 years now; and about a year and a half ago I started having problems swallowing, too. The food kept wanting to go down my windpipe instead. My weight dropped to 84 lbs, and I started having a constant feeling of fullness, and couldn't eat large amounts of food. I was terrified. ... -
ARCHIVED Blood Retesting For Hashimoto's
Di-gfree replied to Di-gfree's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Thank you, both. I'm writing down what to ask for in the tests, and will bring it to my doctor beforehand. Shay, I would like to self-dose myself, too. The dessicated thyroid tablets I'm taking (like I said, similar to Armour in the U.S.), come in 30mg tabs. I'm thinking of adding half a tablet (15 mgs, like you said) each time I up it. I'm hoping my doctor... -
I'm finally through my first week being on dessicated Thyroid (similar to Armour in U.S.) - I'm taking them sublingually to bypass my digestion. In 5 weeks, I'll be having my blood tested to check my levels to see where I go with the medication. 1. I'm on 30 mgs - should I stick with that until my blood work? I've heard not to stay too low for too long...

ARCHIVED Ketchup
Di-gfree replied to Lillyth's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Thanks. I immediately checked the Heinz website, and they say it is gluten-free there, too. I did a search for ketchup this morning (at this forum) and when I saw the organic ketchup contains gluten, I got a little excited... I don't eat it very often, maybe 1/2 tsp a couple times a week. -
ARCHIVED Ketchup
Di-gfree replied to Lillyth's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Heinz Organic Ketchup is *not* gluten-free? It's what I've been using for the past 2 years or so! -
ARCHIVED Sluggish Liver Behind Health Problems..........
Di-gfree replied to AliB's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Thanks for this information. I'm getting pain every now and then in my liver area, too. I did have liver damage from a chinese herb quite a few years back, but my blood tests are showing everything is 'fine' now. Are you taking a liquid or capsule form of milk thistle? -
ARCHIVED Gastroparesis And Raynaud's Syndrome
Di-gfree replied to beachbel's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Just wanted to say that a little over a year ago my digestion came to a screeching halt, and my stomach started to empty very slowly, and stay full for a long time. I just found out I have Hashimoto's Disease (plus I was previously diagnosed with celiac), and I'm thinking the hypothyroidism is the reason for my slow-emptying stomach. So, you might want to... -

ARCHIVED Any One Else Diagnosed With Auto-immune Hepatitis
Di-gfree replied to crazymurdock's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Glad to hear you got the biopsy over with. Good luck with the results! The stuff that harmed my liver wasn't a supplement, but an herbal remedy of some sort (if I recall correctly); so I wasn't trying to worry you about any supplements you might be taking. -
ARCHIVED Hashimotos Thyroiditis?
Di-gfree replied to Live2BWell's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
I was diagnosed with Hashimoto's a couple of months ago. I feel I've probably had it most of my life, actually. I've been diagnosed with celiac for more than a decade. Of the symptoms that Shay just listed for both hyper and hypo - I'd say I have symptoms of both at times. I'm hypo - constipated, slow digestion (slow everything!), feel cold, depression, etc... -

So... I started using my sea salt again, after reading this thread, but lo and behold I noticed the container said 'iodized'. This is not what we want, right? Should I look for uniodized sea salt? - is that the grey salt? Any recommendations on what I'm looking for? Thank you. -
ARCHIVED Any One Else Diagnosed With Auto-immune Hepatitis
Di-gfree replied to crazymurdock's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
I, too, hope it's a fluke; like Debbie said, let us know. I just wanted to comment on the high liver enzyme numbers. I had that one time, too, and had actual pain in my liver at the time. I don't mean to take away from the topic of the auto-immune attack on the liver, but mine turned out to be from some chinese herbal medication I was taking through my... -
ARCHIVED Any One Else Diagnosed With Auto-immune Hepatitis
Di-gfree replied to crazymurdock's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
No, I've never heard of it; but just googled it, and it sounds very serious. This auto-immune stuff is so scary. I've got celiac, and just learned I have Hashimoto's (auto-immune attack on the thyroid). I understand why you are scared. Good luck with your biopsy. -
ARCHIVED Treating Oi/nmh Associated With Cfs/me/fm Or Cfids

So many questions... so, does this mean that if you increase your blood volume by drinking sea salt, will that be beneficial to someone with anemia (low rbc count & low ferritin), as well? -

omgosh, I've had sebaceous lumps removed from my scalp, too. Well, one; but it came back again, so I had it removed again. Parasites? I have a question about the salt. I just got some sea salt, and started it, but then I read it's not good for someone with Hashimoto's to eat sea salt. I guess it must be ok since I know a couple of you have Hashimoto's? -
Hi, I have hay fever. I went gluten-free after my diagnosis in 97, and haven't noticed that the hay fever has improved. The only time it improved was when I lived in a different part of the country, which indicated to me that I'm allergic to something where I am now. It starts about now (early-mid June) and stops around mid July. So, no, unfortunately...
