  1. You said cuisinart with gluten free settings. What did you mean by this? Can you tell me what model?
  2. My church is not an off-shoot of Catholicism. It is definitely Catholic and has been around for over 150 years in my community. We have more than a few Celiac people in my church and to quote the pastor of my church, " We take care of our own and make sure that they do not receive any wheat in their communion" The "special hosts" are blessed during the...
  3. I got a question. It is my understanding (and correct me if I am wrong) that all wine is gluten-free. But I thought champagne was not all gluten-free. Isn't champagne a version of wine. Should I be more careful?
  4. Not all Catholic churches drink the wine. Wine is part of the sacrament but not communal. My church (catholic) has totally Gluten Free Wafers that they will include in the eucharist for me. I just have to let them know prior to mass that I am there. BTW, it is true that the pope has said it is ok for people with celiac to drink the wine only.
  5. I am so sick of the breads I have eaten that I am was wondering if anyone might have a suggestion for new. I have tried brown rice bread and white rice bread from (can't remember the name) purple bag and trader joes carries it. I have tried entera (sp?) brown rice bread. Also, I have tried the white sandwich bread from Kinnikanick (sp?) I love plain...
  6. I used Vaseline Firming and Radiance age defying lotion and it helped with them. They say to use an lotion with Urea in it. It helped me. Also mine went away after gluten-free but it was also the time I started using Dial Antibacterial soap- white bar. I have very sensitive skin. I used to not use lotion on my arms thinking I was clogging them up...

    ARCHIVED Nuvaring

I didn't agree with Nuvaring and if you ever take it out watch out you might spend the day in bed with a god awful migraine. I had to leave work it was so bad and sleep a minimum of 4 hours before I felt better. Also, I noticed an increase in dischargea and irritation after 3 weeks on. They say the patch isn't much better and they some doctors have stopped...
  8. I have always had a positive IgA level and a negative Tissue Transglutiminase. I had a biopsy- no damage and had another biopsy almost two years later after eating gluten the whole time and still no damage. Who knows right? I am now gluten-free even thought I never had symptoms. I also have a wheat allergy diagnosed through the skin test which puts...
  9. I always pack a lunch and put it in a cooler as my carry on luggage. Safest best.
  10. Well Wisconsin is a very meats and potato kind of place so I am sure you will be able to find something. I am not sure at the Dells but I know Wisconsin has outback steakhouses that have gluten free menus.
  11. I eat the UTZ salt free potato chips (regular) and I have never had any problem. I eat them daily.
  12. I got the poppable (sp?) snickers one time at the movies and it made my stomach hurt and nausea. The wierd part is I don't experience any gluten symtpoms!!! Best to bring your own!

    ARCHIVED Weight Gain

To Peaches503... the tapioca bread was awful!! it actually made me gag everytime I went to swallow it. I found I liked brown rice bread (food for life- frozen) I would toast it after defrosting it and use it with pb&J. Its definitely an acquired taste.
  14. my doctor questioned gluten sensivity with me as well. I have one gene, negative Tissue Transglutaminase, positive IgA (very high- 140), negative IgG. No damage on biospy. No symptoms and currently going thru a gluten challenge (1 year with no symptoms) except occasional burning feeling in my stomach. Tested positive for a wheat and corn allergy.
  15. I use the Wella Color stay as well and like it.
  16. I like Trader Joe's gluten free waffles with aunt jamina syrup (original) and then ore ida toaster hash browns with cheese melted on top. Giant carries another brand of gluten free waffles in the frozen health food aisle but I can't think of the name.
  17. In response to mmmm gluten... I know how you feel. I don't experience too many symptoms myself except for an occasional upset which could be from anything. I think in our position it is hard to relate to those who experience serious symptoms. I think you do what makes you feel comfortable. For example, I think not using gluten shampoos, conditioners...
  18. Thank you. I never thought of it that way. I have a follow up appt with my allergist soon and I am going to bring this up to him and see what he says. The eating wheat right now is more for the Celiac Center to see what my antibody level is on and off of gluten. So I have another 2 mos. of it and then I go and see them again after getting my antibody...
  19. I am sorry about your mom. I am not asking to see if it is ok I am just trying to understand what you are saying. You obviously have experience in this area and I am asking to better educate myself as well. I am sorry if I offend you with the questions. I am just trying to understand this and the only way I know how is to ask away.
  20. Thank you. Mmmhh twinkie I haven't had that one yet. I guess I am confused (in response to plantime) My allergist said that responding positively to a food doesn't mean you will have symptoms. He said you can but you don't have to have any symptoms. He also said it wouldn't damage my body if I didn't produce symptoms. If you know different please...
  21. Not all food allergies produce symptoms. I do not have any symptoms when I eat wheat respiratory or gastrically. I just react strongly when high concentrated amounts are put under my skin. Being that I don't eat a loaf of bread at a time I feel fine when I eat wheat. I also have a corn allergy but am able to eat it w/o symptoms. Believe me I would...
  22. Thanks again for the concern but if you can't believe one of the two top doctors in the country for Celiac who can you believe. The tests that are out there are the result of their research. They are the pioneers for this disease. Like I said I am going to continue to check it out every 5 years but for now the gluten-free diet doesn't make me feel any...
  23. This is going to be short because I typed a long message and then accidentially deleted it. Urghhh.. Thanks for the responses but no need to worry. This is under the advice of the co-director of University of Maryland's Celiac Research Center. Just to answer some questions first: I started out sick after returning home from vacation. All of...
  24. Sorry I lost my internet connection for awhile. No actually I don't have Celiac just sensitivity so no damage whatsoever. I actually have been off of the gluten-free diet for about a month now and no symptoms whatsoever Keeping fingers crossed. Why would anybody want to go off of a gluten-free diet? In mind opinion if you don't...
  25. Is there anything I should be aware about going off of a gluten free diet? BESIDES the obvious symptoms. For example, Vegetarians get really sick if they eat meat because there body is not used to digesting the meat. Is there a transitional period with digesting wheat again. gluten-free for about a year.
