    The only problem with this voting is the question 'how long it took to diagnose'? I mean.. celiac is a disease from birth right? So VERY FEW (if any) should be in the 0-2 range.. it's VERY hard to get a diagnosis that early. So almost everyone should be in the 10+ years range but I don't see that? Maybe I'm wrong in that there is early blood tests on...

    I had gastritis and GERD (basically what you said). I do get joint pain - I had diarreah mixed with constipation. I sometimes had pain in abdomen and the tingly feeling is neuropathy... moody/iritable is a form of ADHD possibly - gas and gum bleeding are signs... I would guess you are a DQ1 (not 'celiac') because it's milder but definitely gluten intolerant...

    Here are some things to try: Margarine (the non-dairy kind) is just made with oil. Flax seed (if you can tolerate seeds) help all recipes consistancy - especially waffles/pancakes Legumes - pea flour (yes pea flour) and buckwheat (it's not wheat even though it's called that) do very well.     I get those spots all the time - side of fingers, top of foot, knee (but only a few) when I am 'glutened' IMMEDIATELY. (Some speculate it's a DQ1 gene thing.. and I'm probably DQ1/DQ1). As a child I had them cover both of the tops of my feet. I have found my Allegra for outdoor allergies actually lessens the itchiness of those spots but doesn't stop them...

    I had equivocal blood results on only ONE test - negative biopsies.. and I had like 8 in the intestines, 6 in the stomach and 4 in the esophagus. I got a diagnosis of Gastritis and GERD - but when I went gluten-free all my symptoms - GERD, Asthma, Reflux, Uticaria, Neuropathy - disappeared- how can this be? Btw - my only high test was for IgA Gliadin...

    My new practice in identifying gluten in things.. I don't call.. I make the PHARMACIST do it (that's their job!!). Even if you buy an in-store product.. they are required to check for allergins for you. I also found they get much more knowledgable reps then you would!!     Your number of 1 in 133 is those with SEVERE gluten reactions from not being diagnosed. I will consider myself (and my family) not in those percentages but in Dr. Fine's more likely 20-40% of all people affected in some way - i.e. myself, my Father and all four of my boys (probably my fifth boy we'll see after he's born) are all affected in different ways...

    My wife is A- and has no symptoms - I am A+ and have a gluten allergy. My boys, all four show a reaction to gluten are A+, A-, A- and O+.     One of my friends is intolerant to JUST casein and has ALL of the celiac symptoms - including intestinal damage. All of it was reversed on a casein free diet.     I wanted to followup with some information on the medications we have removed. We would have severe problems with getting sick - especially cold/flu.. it seems some viruses mimmick the gluten proteins and were causing major reactions (and severe asthma breathing problems). We were using Pulmicort twice a day plus Xopenix (sp?) every 3-4 hours to keep them...

    Xanthum gum is made from the shell of a certain bacteria. If you had problems with the Xanthum gum it would probably be a reaction to that bacteria or whatever is in it. Although I don't have a 'corn' allergy - there are a few gluten-free cereals made ONLY FROM RICE!! Unfortunately they are NOT mainstream and you must go to a 'natural food' type of...

    Campbells is ALSO supposed to label (by law) - "packaged in a facility that processes wheat.. etc". You know MOST of their stuff is NOT gluten-free.. and I've found there is alot of 'cross-contamination' from products.
