  1. You aren't the only one. I have so many emotions that I go through being 18 and gluten-free. Honestly, it does effet me greatly. I developed an axiety problem over it and I then get deressed about that and about this new life I am liveing. I want to be healthy and feel how I did before. I notice me being snappy more and I just don't want to have anything...

  3. I just wanted to do a quick comment- I have found that saying I am sXe is A LOT easier than saying allergy. People seem to respect sXe more and already know what it is. Plus, I am sXe so it works out anyway, hahaha!
  4. Hello. I too am 18. I found out about my celiac disease a few weeks before graduating high school in 2003. I am in college now but am still living at home because that was the best thing for me now and the school I wanted to go to is luckily 11 miles away. I know there are people on here who have helped me with all their advice and suggestions about living...
  5. Hello. I know exactly what you and everyone else is saying. I have such awful anxiety. Before I couldn't even got to the grocery five minutes away with out freaking out. I get nervous and panicy and feel like a total nutter. My doctor offered to give me on some anti-axiety medicine and it helps a lot. I also go to a therapist to help me deal with knowing...
  6. I agree with the labeling thing. It doens't have to be large print or anything but clearly labled gluetn free or not!
  7. I have the rumbeling no matter what I eat. . .I don't get sick or anything. If I eat a bigger meal it is louder. .. .I dunno. . .I think it is just the way I am. -edit-Tonight, I had the rumbeling real bad and got so sick. Maybe I just never thought of being sick and the noise as coinsiding. . .hmmm. . .though, it does happen when I don't get sick...

  10. tarnalberry, Thank you for all that! So much good advice. I like what you were saying about how you cooked in your room. I have been thinking about that a lot for when i do leave home. I am 18 right now and aam fine living at home and driving to school but I do want to move out one day. The alcohol thing is funny because I had decided before knowing...
  11. You poor thing! My reactions are no where near as bad as yours. It seems to sometimes depend on how much food is in me. . .I can react in a minute to an hour. I always usually get diarrhea that can last depending on what I had anywhere from 30 mins to HOURS! When I had the rash from the shampoo it went away in a week or so.
  12. gluten-free animal crackers!!!!!! For real?!? I used to eat animal crackers all the time; especially in high school and at sports meets. I will have to get myself some of these. I have missed them so.
  13. I started at around 4 with symptoms but they didn't know what it was until I was 17.
  14. Thank you all for your replies. I like the ENJOY COLLEGE part because I am just starting to let myself enjoy it! It is hard but I am trying. I do live at home still and that does make it easier to eat. Tomorrow a new semester starts and I am getting nervous. Wow I thought. . .so I looked and it did! I stopped using it right away and my scalp is now fine. maybe you are using lotion or something that irritates you? that's all I have to offer...
  16. Well, being 18 and knowing about having celiac disease for less than a year has been hard. I moved to GA right before my senior year and found out about my celiac disease a few weeks before graduation. During all the fun of graduation this past May I didn't get to participate in a lot the fun out of school stuff. My doctor had told me to not eat anything...
  17. Hello, I am new here. . .I found out I had celiac disease about 9 months ago. I had symptoms from as far back as kindergarten. When we finally went to a doctor they always said IBS which my mother has but the symptoms were not exactly the same. The years past and by the time of my senior year I was getting sick everyday with terrible diarrhea. I had moved...
