  1. My local grocery store sells two brands of bagged lentils. They look similar but one states it was made on the same lines as wheat products and the other says glutenfree. We can't be too careful! Even gluten-free lentils can be hard on your stomach if you aren't used to them. I like Tolerant's bean and lentil noodles. They are expensive but good.
  2. I wouldn't use the things you can't get clean- the cast iron and the cooking pot. The rest should be fine as long as you clean them well.
  3. I find a lot of gluten-free foods on Amazon, too. Sometimes it is cheaper on there than buying them at my local health food stores.
  4. I never ate the ones that were made from the wheat ingredients, but, when I was in Europe I found the gluten-free foods there to be WAY better than the ones here. The ones I ate were all vegan, as well. That's harder to find in the US.
  5. Just thought I would chime in to say that I do not get sick from Amy's food BUT I have never really eaten the ones that say "no gluten ingredients." Plus, I also only eat the dairy-free ones.
  6. If you have Celiac Disease you do damage regardless of how severe or not your reactions are. You cannot even fully heal if you are cheating. Plus, it makes those around you think that your disease, if you have it, is no big deal. It is a huge deal.
  7. You should be on the diet for sure but your husband should only be on it if he feels better. There is no reason not to do the diet. . .it can be a choice for people who aren't allergic and who do not have Celiac Disease. I bet he'd feel better- most people do! Good luck!
  8. I find the chocolate stuff needs longer, too. It just depends on the brand, usually!
  9. There is no way I'd eat something that said may contain traces of wheat! As for the facility thing- it is up to you. When eating out you may need to tell them to clean the grill, etc., depending on what you are ordering. Any amount of gluten will harm you, even if you do not see the same symptoms. Good luck, and be careful!
  10. I have never seen any, but it would be a good essay for applying to other ones.
  11. I am a gluten-free vegan, so, I usually compare allergy menus if they have them. Sometimes places will make special food for me, too. It is harder but if you pick the right places it can be easy!
  12. You have to be serious about your food issues. Usually I just eat before going out or bring something with me to eat. That way I don't have to worry about being sick or finding nothing to eat. As for the storing of food issue- just have a set of your own things. That way they can't make comments and you know yours is in it's own container. It is hard...
  13. Bob's Red Mill has some gluten-free grits.
  14. I use Arrowhead Mills, but I do not know if they are soy free.
  15. I didn't have any of those symptoms. I ate the same amount of food, and I was swimming doing swim practice, too. The only thing I had was anxiety about being sick again but no withdrawal symptoms.
  16. A lot of schools (including the one I went to) allow you to be exempt from plans like this due to medical reasons. It shouldn't be hard to get a doctors note.
  17. I love when veggie magazines have gluten-free features!
  18. Happy birthday!
  19. I dated a few guys after being diagnosed and none ever complained about my dietary differences, including my current boyfriend.
  20. It took me awhile to get used to my new, healthy body. There are gluten symptoms, dairy ones, normal belly ache pains, menstrual aches, etc. The best thing is to calm down and just think of what it could be. You'll get used to the difference between being glutened and having a normal tummy pain but not before having to deal with all the anxiety! Good...
  21. I made them with egg replacer and they turned out great. . . .the brownies did not. I made cupcakes last night with the cake mix and they were yummie.
  22. Were those foods you were eating when you felt bad containing gluten and eggs? Celiac Disease has so many symptoms from headaches,r ashes, vomiting, etc., that you could have had many and not thought they were related. You can be gluten-free if you try and get used to your diet. It takes awhile to get used to and you'll be better off on it. Plus, you...
  23. It is good to hear of your success!
  24. When you are unsure, the best thing to do is call the company!
