  1. During the day fruit works good for me. Try KinniKinnick brand. . .great bagels, bread, and english muffins. Yummie. I don't know about cheap. . .our food is expensive but once you find what you like and see who caries it you'll see price differences. It's weird learning to cook with new foods too so at first you'll find lots of mistakes and...
  2. Hey, I am 19 and school has started up agin for me this week, waw. I usually take a snack with me on campus and eat at home. Though, if I get hungry I just go to the cafeteria and pick up some fruit and make sure I wash it myself before eating. When I get home I'll make things like egg sandwiches and salads or homemade fries (dosn't take too long) or hashbrowns...
  3. I don't wanna share! Yea, we'll see how the diet works for him. He'll probably post here since he eats different food than me and I don't know about them.
  4. So, my brother, Matthew, started getting ill like I used to be a few weeks ago. Of course when he went to our doctor she said go on a gluten-free diet and we will do tests. The call cam today and he has it. It's a bit weird but it's good to know what's wrong. I told him he should check this place out so I think he will register and all that jazz. ...
  5. I am excited about it, too! I didn't know it would be so soon! Yummie!
  6. I personally don't see anything wrong with calling it an allergy when talking about it. So I don't mind telling people that's what it is. I guess somepeople just don't want to call it that. Anyways, do most people need to know what it's all about. . .I think not. .. they just need to know that if we are given the gluten we will have a reaction. . .that...
  7. Tell them it's like a peanut allergy. . .which may not be totally true for all of us but it lets them know it is something to take seriously. Plus you never know if you'll have a severe reaction one day. If I get fed up with people I have no problem saying "I don't like talking about my celiacs and I am done talking about it today." Most back off and...
  8. I tell people if I want to or if it comes up. I find it better when I just don't tell people who don't need to know. . .don't know why. It is nice in classes when one or 2 people know and know I don't sit and talk about it because then when I say no to pizza or stuff and people start asking q's they divert it. Though, in some of my classes it's helpful...
  9. Just a question. . .why would you need medical proof that you're a celiac?
  10. Breakfast- Bannana or Apple or bagel but if I am doing a breakfast/lunch I'll have both fruits or an egg on english muffin with lettuce and all that jazz. Lunch/dinner- My kick this month is rice noodles with Alfrado sauce and 1/2 a baguette. Salad. Bagles for dinner are always yummie. Egg sandwiches or egg in a salad. Hashbrowns. Snacks- Friench...
  11. Kinnikinnick english muffins. For sure.
  12. You should try to set up one then. You are young and it will be benifical for years to come. Myabe you should look broader for your groups. For one of mine I have to travel a bit to get there but at least it's there! Kristina
  13. HELLO! I have that problem here. The closest I can get ti "meeting" people my age with this is on-line. Maybe if you ask around your support groups or just keep looking you will find someone. Kristina WELCOME to the board!
  14. I am slow and just now seeing this thread. Chelsea I think I have talked to you before, maybe? I never went through a denial thing cause it was more "Well, that makes sense" since I was sick everyday. I am glad you are sticking to the diet! Beki, the veggie and gluten-free thing can be done! I like rice pasta best but a lot of people don't like it. ...

  16. Well, I am 19 with Celiacs and didn't know until I was 17. So, I suffered damage all those years. I didn't have teeth or walk until 20 months and showed symptoms basically all my life (like many of the people here). I would think she'd heal faster because she wasn't eating gluten for years and years but since she is a baby I don't know. I think she should...
  17. I went to Outback on my birthday and enjoyed some good food with no problems! However, anytime I get carryout from there I always have preombels. . .I don't know if it's because it's carryout or gluten but anytime I eat there it's fine. So, I won't be doing carryout anymore. Rar and yay to Outback!

  19. Hello! Welcome and I hope you stay. I know how the family thing can go. My relatives only cater when we are in small groups. . .like 3 or 4. . .but only with food at a local store- chips and candy. In big groups they don't seem to care but say "I guess there is nothing here for you, huh?" It' okay though because I don't see them much. Hopefully things...
  20. I have had the ringing for years. It happens in silence and not. It drives me nutty most of the time! Kristina
  21. I love Old Bay and use it a lot!
  22. I am not sure about the dressing. I know that that cheese is not gluten-free because it usually is made with a bread core. I would think if the dressing has it that it may not be safe. However, the best thing to do is contact the company directly asking if that specific dressing is gluten-free. That's always the best way to find out! Kristina
  23. Hello! I am Kristina, and will be 19 in about 2 weeks, eek. I will be in NYC this weekend, how exciting. I am so glad you are a vegetarian! We'll have to talk about that! Stay!
