  1. I dropped out, too. Same story, didn't have the energy, and constantly felt extremely ill. It was just about the least important thing at the time. I also have High Functioning Autism, so that didn't help. Go and get your GED as soon as you're better. Going on 8 months since going gluten free and I can finally say I'm starting to see some improvements...
  2. Celiac and autism here. I've found an easy way to deal with it is through humor. At work the ongoing joke is that whenever someone brings in treats for us to have, everyone looks at me and says "None for you" or "You can't have any." It's all in good fun, and it makes it a lot easier. I have also explained the disease(and Autism) to everyone I work with in...
  3. I have a bunch of holes in my teeth, and very obvious degradation of the enamel. My dental coverage expired when I turned 18 and I can't afford to get them fixed right now, so I'm pretty screwed.
  4. I could never even stand the smell of any kind of cheese, and it has ALWAYS made me sick after eating it. It's strange because people would always be telling me that something smelled so good, and I'd want to puke my guts out because it was such a putrid stench. I've noticed this with a few other foods, too. I started noticing this with bread after I went...
  5. A lot of Thai Kitchen products have Casein in them, though. Just a heads up to anyone Gluten-free Casein-free. It's listed as sodium caseinate.
  6. Anyone here experience dental problems, ie. bad teeth no matter how hard you try? I brush my teeth a lot, and still, I have a holes in my teeth. I did some research and found an article that links the malabsorption of celiac disease to weakening of the enamel in teeth. Just curious if any others have experienced bad teeth and think it may be a result of celiac...
  7. I could do with a new set of pots and pans and I don't use the toaster at all. Thanks for the tip.
  8. A "vegetarian" who consumes fish is called a pescetarian.
  9. You just reminded me that I had an eye twitch that went away when I went gluten-free.
  10. I eat a lot of Gluten Free tortilla chips, under the brand name "Go-Mex." I also eat pop corn, popped without oil and not buttered. I bread chicken and tilapia/haddock/halibut with corn flour once or twice a week. I do not eat a lot of corn on the cob or canned corn, because it tends to not feel so good. I do eat a fair bit of rice and potatoes, too...
  11. Is it normal to still have the same bloating and cramping on a daily basis even after eliminating both gluten and casein? My diet consists of fruits, vegetables, chicken, occasionally turkey and fish and plenty of corn. Sometimes I eat nuts and seeds. How much of this is normal? My diarrhea went away almost immediately after eliminating gluten, but bloating...
  12. I have one. "I'm going to stop drinking, because it makes me feel so sh***y." "Good. It makes you look so sh***y, too." 6 hours later, they were throwing up into the bowl part of MY microwave popcorn popper. I am used to the "I feel so fat." *continues eating bag of chips*
