  1. A word caution about eating out. Since I have stopped placing my health into the hands of others who either don't care, or don't understand, I have noticed a dramatic improvement. For the past year and half I have only eaten at dedicated gluten free establishments, I was tired of constantly getting sick. And keep in mind I was still only eating at so the...
  2. To the OP, I wish I could say it'll get easier like some have alluded. Sure, you're health will improve and you will feel better overall. But life on the other hand will be more difficult and challenging than ever, at least that's the way it is for me. My sensitivity to Gluten is extremely high and any form of cross contamination will alter my health...
  3. Wow, what a wonderful and heartfelt response in the "Coping With" forum.
  4. And your reply is what I am talking about. Since I was diagnosed in 2007 and going off the information provided then this is what I came across: Even beyond blogs, the “gluten in adhesives” myth has been present in a variety of reputable sources. Back in 2006, an article in the peer-reviewed journal Nutrition in Clinical Practice—with the Mayo Clinic’s Jos...
  5. Celiac Disease is not confusing by itself? I guess that is why so many doctors get the diagnosis right the first time or why 10 people with Celiac Disease will have 10 different reactions or 10 different responses to cross contamination. The point of my original response was to simply remind everyone to go easy on some of the questions and posts and not...
  6. That was the OP’s original and only post so far, hopefully they are still here and will continue to visit for help and answers. I agree, and as it is finding meals of substance out there is challenging enough. Hopefully most can decipher for themselves what is good and bad information. But as we all know gluten is hidden in a lot of product, envelope g...
  7. Thanks everyone for taking the time to read my post, hopefully someone has read it and it may have cleared up some confusion, since Celiac Disease is not a 'one size fits all" kind of thing. It is also my understanding this dish is usually prepared with a chicken or beef stock that most likely contains gluten.
  8. Not so thoughtful reply: Thoughtful reply: This is supposed to be a safe place for those diagnosed with Celiac Disease to come and hopefully find answers to a VERY confusing disease and even more confusing industrialized food industry. There are enough forums out there with their fair share snarky responses, and this one shouldn’t n...
  9. Along with Gluten, Inulin is now on our “do not ingest list”! I have read a few posts where people have been talking about GI problems after eating products that contain inulin. Both my my wife (non celiac) and myself have experienced VERY negative side effects after consuming food products that contained inulin. After a quick Google search I came acr...
  10. This is what is frustrating to me, the label does not say gluten free, but the product is gluten free, but yet they cannot verify that is gluten free. Exactly the reason I do my best to avoid products that do not have gluten free right on the label. Now if you get sick and inquire about suspected product, the company's reply will be, "we never said the...
  11. Here is what I have learned so far since being diagnosed with Celiac Disease back in 2007. First let me say that my GI health has been a rollercoaster since going on a gluten free diet and to say the least it has been physically and mentally draining. When I was first diagnosed I immediately stopped the consumption of gluten, and believe me that was painful...
  12. It is not worth it to me, I am not going to risk it. My biggest frustration in all this is that Gluten Free gets thrown in with all the other claims and people and businesses do not take it seriously enough or in this case simply don't want to be bothered by ensuring the product is Gluten Free on their labels. I have gotten sick COUNTLESS times from restaurants...
  13. The other day while shopping I looked over the label of a Talenti Gelato product that once said “Gluten Free”, here is the question that I submitted to the Corporate Office: Hello Sir or Madam, I have a question regarding your product labeling. It seems that most if not all of the Talenti products no longer have "gluten free" printed on them., however whe...
  14. Happy birthday and may God bless you today!

  15. I think this is a problem I am also having. Last night we had steaks for the first time in awhile. Got sick early this morning as I did the last time I had steak. Will this ever go away? Been gluten-free since last July and really at times not feeling any better. I have eaten at both those restaurants and have no side affects. Knock on wood? Just...
  16. I am once again getting frustrated. There have been a few times that I was CC and we have figured out why. At the time of sending in my Entrolab sample was one of the times I was CC. My casein IgA antibody was 26 units. So the past two weeks I took dairy out of my diet. Dairy is something I would have everyday from milk to yogurt to cheese. I never felt bad...
  17. I went to the dentist yesterday and and asked them the question: Does any of your products contain gluten? They pulled the info sheet out of the box and it only said do not use if you have intolerance with fluoride. No other ingredients listed. Last night I did not feel good at all! But was it the paste? Something I ate earlier? Something expired...
  18. Thanks for the feed back!
  19. We just started eating "Ancient Harvest" Quinoa Pasta and I have to tell you I really like the taste. I do not know if it is this product or something else but every time eat it I do not feel 100% the next day. Wondering if anyone else had/has this problem with this product. Thank you very much for you help! Still trying to figure this all out. Rick
  20. Really! I hate to be a buzz kill but since being diagnosed with Celiac (Jul07) I actually feel worse than ever. I can not eat out (YES I tell the staff....but it is still not enough!!) without having some kind of problem even minor. Just when I think I understand gluten I find out it may be in Vitamin E and now my wife's make-up! Even gluten in the air...
  21. UUUUGGGGHHHHH I called both my PCP and GI today to try and get a blood test to check if my antibodies were elevated. My PCP did not think it would show anything and my GI doc is out of town till Monday. Both of the nurses really pissed me off..... talking to me like I had no idea what I was doing for the last 7 months. believe me I do not want to...
  22. Eukanuba web site said their products are Gluten and wheat free, and our dogs do not slobber. Is the Entrolab testing one that can yield false positives?
  23. I found the Enterolab web site, thank you.
  24. Have you checked all meds and supplements? I do not take any meds and the multi that I used to take was gluten-free Have you eliminated it from toiletries and non food sources? My pet foods and art supplies got me off and on for a couple of years till I learned. We never thought to check the toiletries! The dog food may also be something to...
