  1. I was not aware that different kinds had different flavors! I have the lighter brown ones.
  2. I bought some lentils yesterday, I'd like to make a really good soup or stew with them, but don't have any good recipes. Anyone have a good gluten-free recipe using lentils I could try?
  3. The sauce sounds great! I don't think I personally would use corn pasta, but that is just me. I prefer rice pasta, namely Tinkyada. Like I said, your sauce sounds great. I might not add the sauce to the noodles until right before you eat it, and don't mix it all together, just put the sauce on each individual serving.
  4. We always use Kinnikinnick tapioca rice bread and I have found that we can make anything with it. It isn't as good if it's not grilled or toasted, but it's the best bread we have found. I made my step son a tuna melt with it for his lunch the other day and he scarfed it right down. It's what I would use for panini's.
  5. Oh no, I have made some pretty nasty things. When my step son was first diagnosed I wanted to find a way to make mac & cheese for him, so I found a gluten free recipe and went to a local Molly Bea's to get some gluten-free macaroni noodles )made from corn because I didn't know any better.) I also made the cheese sauce from corn flour.....it was the...
  6. I don't know what brand you used, but I have never gone wrong with Tinkyada. That is the best gluten free stuff ever invented and even my non gluten free family members love it. I sometimes use De Boles, but Tinkyada is almost impossible to screw up. I have tried other brands that are disgusting, but I've never been disappointed with Tinkyada. It doesn...
  7. Thank you!!! I have been saying this for months and the thing is, it's a private school so from what I've been told they don't really have to make an attempt to educate about this. I have been told, however, that if he were going to public school things would be much different.....(yeah, like they wouldn't be eating pancakes with syrup at 2:00 in the afternoon...
  8. Hey, I just noticed on the forum main page if you look on the left of the screen there is a gluten free bars link and there are TONS listed. Maybe you will find what you are looking for there. Whatever you try, let us know how they taste.
  9. I was just informed today that my step son is having an international foods taste testing day at his school in a few weeks, and I desperately need recipes. I can make some sort of Mexican dish, I have many of those, and I can do shepherd's pie for German, but I would like to have some other ideas for international foods day. I am telling you, his school...
  10. I've been told the Soy Joy bars are gluten-free, but don't quote me on that. Check the ingredients, but I'm about 90% sure they are. Not sure how they taste, I personally liked the larabars.
  11. We just got the Mickey Mouse Clubhouse fruity crunch cereal, haven't tried it yet because we just bought it but it looks like a fruity rice cereal. I've been told that General Mills list all sources of gluten in their cereals, and the ingredients in this one are all gluten free.
  12. Okay, now I know it's not just me because I bought pre made Chebe buns, they go from frozen straight to the oven, I made some today and they were also very chewy. I just don't think I like Chebe bread.
  13. Missy's mom, thank you so much. I wasn't expecting to get a reply so quickly. I like how you add your own little comments when posting a recipe, that really helps to understand the process better. Thank you, I will try to remember to let you know how they turn out! If I don't just break down and buy the pre made ones......
  14. My step son is having grandparents day in a few weeks and they will be having bagels and doughnuts. I would like to make him some gluten-free doughnuts so that he can eat with his grandparents, does anyone know of any good recipes?
  15. Does anyone else find Chebe bread to be a little chewy....or is it just chewy when I make it? I made cinnamon rolls with it this morning and they had excellent flavor and the kids loved them, but they are just chewy. I have also used it to make garlic breadsticks and it was chewy.
  16. I know someone that sells Mona Vie, it is basically a juice that you drink to help you feel better. It has nothing specific to help celiac, the company's claim is that it hellps everyone feel better. Kind of like the mangosteen fruit. You can buy acai juice and mangosteen juice at any health food store. I've never tried it, but the girl I know that sells...
  17. That looks awesome! I just added that website to my favorites, lots of great recipes on there. Thank you for that!
  18. Has anyone tried the gluten-free snickerdoodles by Enjoy Life? AMAZING! They are some of the best cookies I've ever had, and we love snickerdoodles. They are very soft and flavorful! We have also tried the gingersnaps, and they are alright if you like gingersnaps but I am not a big fan. Try the snickerdoodles, you'll be glad you did......
  19. I just wanted everyone to know that last night I made the chicken nuggets posted by celiac mommy, and they are incredible! The broccoli actually gives them great flavor and my kids were none the wiser! They loved them! I used crushed gluten-free pretzels and tortilla chips for the coating, didn't have paprika like I thought I did...OR onion salt...but...
  20. My step son was diagnosed with celiac a little over a year ago when he was 4. He has had what the doctors said is eczema his entire life, sometimes it is extremely bad and covers his legs, buttocks, feet, sometimes his cheeks. Personally, I believe it is DH, because it looks exactly like the pictures I have seen. Is it possible that if he does somehow...
  21. Wow, celiac mommy, thank you so much for doing that! I just read through the recipes and they all look like something I will try...if not for my step son then at least for me! I would have never thought of using spinach or broccoli puree in the dredging process, what a great idea. Again, thank you for taking the time to do that, I appreciate it!
  22. I'm wondering if there are any regular cereals out there that you have found are gluten-free? We fed my step son the EnviroKids cereal for several months before learning that Fruity Pebbles are gluten-free, and I'm telling you, when we put that bowl of FP in front of him for breakfast, I thought he was going to cry he was so happy. Anyway, he is not fond...
  23. I'm sure this has been discussed before, but I can't seem to find a syrup thread in the search. I need to know which syrups are gluten-free, as my step son is having a pancake day at school tomorrow and I would like for him to be able to actually have the same syrup as everyone else, even though he has to have different pancakes. I tried to use real maple...
  24. That would be awesome, thank you!
  25. Ooh.....I have a good idea then....how about some recipes or maybe a few ideas.....
