  1. RPM, I had the iodine contrast done with a CT back in Dec. I didn't have any adverse reactions to it but think I know why now. I've been taking 100mg of iodine daily for the last 2 months and, prior to that, was taking 50mg daily for 4 months. It probably helped to clear a lot of the toxins out of my system. I noticed detox symptoms when I first ramped...
  2. Just stopping in to say "hi".... so... ummm.... Hi! Haven't felt much like posting lately. Been in a funk for awhile now. I've also been seriously irritable. Thinking it might be hormonal. My body's been changing over the last week. Hot flashes have stopped. Still getting night sweats, but I've had those for 3 years. And my period's finally...
  3. Oh good! Its not just me then. Had a really bad batch of pinpricks in my heel yesterday morning. Tried making it go away by grinding my heel into the floor. Hubby walked up and started doing the twist. I'm like "huh?". He thought I was dancing. Its never dull around here.
  4. Thanks for the encouragement. I'm just all kinds of down and depressed and seriously irritable today. Dunno why. Would swear I was PMSing if anything else was pointing in that direction. Haven't seen Auntie Flo since October and no signs of her on the horizon. Probably why my ferritin is up. Been having odd things happen lately the last couple...
  5. Carla, Thanks! Will PM you in a bit about detox stuff. Now that I've made the appt, I'm having all kinds of doubts about lyme and stuff. Guess I'm so used to negative results and drs just looking at me funny, I expect it, even from good docs. Does help that I just read Dr J's essay on interpreting WBs and, according to him, my results aren't even in...
  6. Quick note... Finally talked to someone in Dr H's office. I have an appt on March 4th at 1:45. On the bright side, at least I'll have the results from the stool testing and blood tests by that point and can take them with me.
  7. Lisa, Just a thought.... how's your ferritin level? A lot of people with low iron will crave ice or cold foods. Maybe that's why you're craving ice cream so much? You could always try something like crushed ice and fruit juice. No dairy, but you still get that cold sensation. Donna, Glad to hear you're going to try to kick the melatonin. My...
  8. Miamia, Oh yeah. The trans-vag. Had one of those back in August. "You want to put what where?????" They're not fun. Didn't help that my right ovary decided to go walkabout and wasn't where it was supposed to be. re: bathroom - I tend to go either every day or every other day. It really depends if I've been cheating or not and if I'm taking...
  9. Kassandra, Yay! You're picc-less! Called the drs office several times today but couldn't get through to a live human. Left a voice mail for the appt nurse. Hopefully, she'll call me back tomorrow and we can get this darn thing scheduled. I've been of the opinion for many years that insurance is just a legalized and instutionalized form of...
  10. Paula, That thing about your alarm made me laugh. We only set the alarm if hubby has to get up for the early shift (he's on swing shift). Its on to wake me up so I can wake him up. He wouldn't hear it. Andrea, Sorry you're not feeling well now. Donna, Good luck with the shot! Steady hand and keen eye, etc... or is it the other way around...
  11. Kassandra, What great news! And to everyone, thanks so much for your encouragement, support and kicks in the butt (motivation). I'd probably still be wallowing if it weren't for you. Hubby's grumbling about money this morning (which he pretty much does every payday), but we have enough for the appt and he grudgingly agreed. Looks like I'm...
  12. Yeah, kinda forgot about all the xmas shopping that put a load on the card. A bunch of home repair stuff too. And we only have the one card intentionally. If all else fails, I have an annuity I can tap into and there's always hubby's 401k. We can take a loan out on the 401k and it just gets taken out of his paycheck. Would rather not touch the...
  13. Ok, talked to hubby. The card is close to being maxed right now, so we have to see what's in his paycheck tomorrow. If we have the money, I'll be calling tomorrow for the appt. I had to give him a brief lesson in lyme politics and why I'd have to travel to NY to see a decent dr. He doesn't have a problem with my seeing Dr H or the money. It's just a...
  14. Ok, after spending 20 minutes on hold, I finally got to talk with the appt nurse. Gotta wait until hubby comes home because he has the credit card and they need payment to hold the appt. On the bright side, she said she can get me in sometime this month. Will keep you posted.
  15. Yes'm! I just called. Their "out to lunch" message is still on. Will keep trying.
  16. Donna, Thanks! I feel better now that I've had a good cry about it. So, it looks like I don't pass CDC muster, but there might actually be something going on here. Interesting.
  17. Andrea and Donna, Thanks. I think I'm just really depressed right now. Will probably call in the next day or so, once I get over this funk. ----------- Btw, they faxed the results. MDL labs is supposed to be pretty good from what I've been reading on LN. Anyway, I'm looking at them. They ran PCRs for everything, 2 elisa tests, and both IgM and...
  18. I called the lyme doc's office this morning to see if my labs came back. They did - everything's negative. They're faxing them over to me today. I asked flat out if it's worth bothering to come in since my results were negative and they said no. I cancelled my appt. So now what? I feel like I just shouldn't bother anymore. I'm crying as I'm typing...
  19. Ah ha! That's what happened! *lightbulb going on* I used the same amount of potato starch that I was using with corn starch. Will try it again, this time adding a little at a time. Thank you all for your help! I really do appreciate it.
  20. Ooh! I like the idea of a portable sauna. That way I can take it with me on the road. I spend 4 weeks away from home every year (not including trips out to my mom's) and it'd be nice to know I could do all this when I'm away. Since we have a house smaller than most people's apartments, would also be nice to be able to put it away when its not in use....
  21. Carla, Wanted to ask about your sauna. Did you build it, buy it, was it in the house already? Is it a dry sauna only or can it do the steam thing? I don't really know much about saunas, but thought it might be a good idea to look further into it. You're the only person I know with one. Thanks!
  22. Thank you!!!
  23. Rachel, That's awesome!!! Kassandra, I'm sorry about your brother. It might just be the best thing for him right now. A couple of my friends, and myself included, have been there. It was a painful, yet very healing experience in the hospital. I hope he's open to benefiting from it. Carla, Nice to see you in the chat last night. Sorry...
  24. I made roast beef the other night and decided to do something with the leftovers last night. Been having a hankering for gravy and rice so decided to make a nice gravy. Ran out of arrowroot so figured since I've used corn starch in the past (before having problems with corn) potato starch would work. Ummm... er... hrm... *cough*... No. While it...
  25. Hi! Sorry about taking so long to get back to you. When I have bad brain days, I can barely read, let alone compose answers to anything. Anyhoo, talking with your doc. That's something that a lot of us have problems with. There are a couple of things you can try and see if they work. One would be to search the web and find sources to print...
