  1. Oh! Forgot to mention... Our dog was dx'd with Lyme 7 years ago. Makes me wonder. If dogs can be so easily dx'd why is it so difficult for them to figure humans out?
  2. Thanks so much for celebrating with me! Even hubby, who tends to be rather cool and casual about my health stuff, said seeing a Lyme doc would be a good idea. I think he's even planning on going to the appt with me! That'd be a first. I think hubby has Lyme as well. Of course the doc who refused to test me tested him (probably because he's not ...
  3. Just got off the phone. The llmd can see me on the 28th! Yes! Of this month! They had a cancellation. The appt's at 10am. They're faxing a load of paperwork as we speak. Woot! I still haven't gotten up there yet. Keep finding reasons to put it off. Number one is that I haven't found the respirator yet. I have a feeling its been...
  4. Nice to know about the practitioners being understanding. Turns out the llmd I'm calling today takes insurance, so that should definitely help take care of some of the financial owies. I'm sure ins won't pay for a lot of the testing or long-term meds or treatments or supplements. But at least the office visits should be covered. Gotta celebrate...
  5. Is lymenet down this morning or is it my browser (again)? Can't get into the site at all.
  6. I'm afraid that's what we're going to have to do. Either that or tap into hubby's 401K. We're going to have to tap it anyway - found out the roof leaks during the ice/sleet/freezing rain storm we had this past weekend. Ugh! Mold anyone? Could explain some of my problems as well as hubby's chronic itching. And since I'm the only one who can fit up into...
  7. Got a reply from lymenet already! Have the names of 3 docs within an hour's drive of me. Will be calling tomorrow to see about an appt. Thanks again!
  8. Thanks for pointing me to lymenet! I posted over there and hope to hear back from folks soon. Btw, how in the everlovin' world do you guys afford some of these treatments? I'm just boggled at all this stuff you're doing (in a good way). I hope you don't mind my asking. I think the reason I've been getting crappy drs is because I've been relying on...
  9. Andrea, Carla, and Donna, Thanks! I called them stupid questions, largely because I feel like I'm grasping at straws here. I really do think I'm becoming a hypochondriac and losing my mind. The past year has been hell! Its like my doctors are trying to fix a leaky boat with a wad of chewing gum and duct tape - some improvement in the short run, but...
  10. Hey gals! Got a couple of stupid questions for you. Hoping you can clue me in a little. First stupid question topic - I popped over to the Lyme thread and saw the symptoms list. I have 41 of them. Think its worth getting this checked out, or should I just see what my dr comes up with and go from there? Granted, most of the symptoms on the list that...
  11. You found the problem! Yay!
  12. Jin, Happy Birthday!

    ARCHIVED Snow

Sounds like it. Glad we got our errands run yesterday and today. Also very glad hubby has off tomorrow (he works for one of the utility companies). I cringe everytime we get these storms, mostly for his sake. Can't imagine being up a 28' ladder in this weather. Oog!
  14. Just re-read a couple of posts I'd made earlier on the board. Geeze! Yeah, that's me who wrote them, but still. I sound like an utter looney! I've always been a bit "off" (its part of my charm), but recently I've a little more off than usual. No.... scratch that. A LOT more off. I used to be an upbeat, logical, reasonable person capable of handling...

    ARCHIVED Snow

...for the 2nd time in a week. And then once the trees and powerlines are beautifully ice-covered, we're supposed to be getting high winds. Got candles? All things considered... Gimme Snow!
  16. Oh yeah. It's kinda like being on autopilot while having a chronic series of brain cramps. Suddenly there's a moment when things kind of sink in and its disconcerting, to say the least. A sudden awareness of "being". And then it goes back to the autopilot disassociative perceptions for awhile. Regarding words.... that happens to me all the time...
  17. The next time I go there, I'll jot down the brand names and products. Funky, huh?
  18. Geeze! So much to catch up on! You've been busy! I'm sure I missed stuff (information overload) so please don't take it personally if something's not mentioned. Kassandra, So glad you're finally getting some answers. And with a good doc too! YAY! Have you been checked for adrenal fatigue? It could be one cause for the insomnia, besides the...
  19. Thanks for the info! I'm still new at this and didn't say anything when I was at the health food store. What caught my eye was the gluten-free label, and then I read the ingredients and it said spelt. Thus my confusion. Next time I'm in there, I'll say something to the staff. And I had a brain fart. Looked at the site again and it was sorghum, not...
  20. If the tequila wasn't clear, you could be reacting to the caramel coloring in it. Might be the same reason you react to whiskey. Honestly, its worth splurging just a little more and getting the "good" stuff. Clear tequila is a much higher quality, tastes better, and tends to cause fewer hangovers on the odd chance that you might overindulge in the festivities...
  21. While wandering around the health food store, I noticed that some products were labeled gluten-free but had spelt in them. Isn't spelt a species of wheat? How in the world can they label something like that as gluten-free? While it may have a lower amount of gluten, its still gluten. I've even noticed that one of the gluten-free sites has spelt listed...

    ARCHIVED Gray Hair

Graying hair has been associated with B-vitamin deficiencies, particularly B12, although there's no solid proof. It wouldn't be surprising tho, considering how most of us have had problems absorbing nutrients. Once we start absorbing nutrients again, the deficiences can be resolved, along with the problems that go with them.
  23. Every time I turn around, some new health thing pops up and new dietary restrictions come into play. First, it was the thyroid and avoiding goitrogens like unfermented soy and raw cruciferous veggies. Then it was the elimination diet and having to avoid gluten, dairy, corn and refined sugar due to reactions. Ok, fine. I can deal with that. Spent ...
  24. I agree with the B12. It could also be related to adrenal fatigue or a vit A deficiency (which is fairly common among Celiac folks). Adrenal fatigue can cause light sensitivity, night blindness, and after images (like seeing the light from a flash longer than other folks).
  25. So it might not be my gallbladder after all! Spent 4 hours in the ER today, after having 6 days of non-stop abdominal pain. The thing that sent me in was, in addition to the pain, I woke up this morning to having bouts of sweating, chills, shaking, and light headedness.. but no fever. Anyway, after 7 tubes of blood, a urine test, drinking a liter...
