  1. My 12 year old was diagnosed with an anxiety disorder when he was 7, though it retrospect it was there earlier. symptoms tend to emerge for boys arond 7-8 yers, for girls around 11-12 I think. At 2 years old,we had to reassure him there was no Santa because he didn't like the idea of someone sneaking in the house while he was asleep. Anyway, beofre this...
  2. It does sound like a pretty normal 2 year old thing. We went gluten free at 3 1/2, and it mostly went pretty smooth, but then she does eat a lot of yogurt and fruit. I think it might be smart to avoid the substitute foods until you have some distance from the regulars. We jsut avoided pasta and bread for a while, when we introduced the substitutes they...
  3. You could try a full elimination diet. I think we went down to meat, rice, potatoes, and a some fruits and veggies (not tomatoes, citrus, strawberries, or anything else you suspect) for two weeks, until symptoms improved, then tested each food individually for a few days. The book, Is This Your Child, by Doris Rapp, MD, details how to do an elimination...
  4. I was in this place about 3 1/2 years ago. I was so hungry all day, and I had taken out gluten and dairy shortly after she was born, it seemed like most of what I could eat and prepare while taking care of a baby still left me feeling hungry. Coupled with sleep deprivation and hormonal flux, it was so exhausting and overwhelming. Focusing on protein helped...
  5. We are about 6 weeks past where you are with my 3.5 year old, whowas 25lbs 6 weeks ago, and is now 26lbs and 1/2 inch taller. Her tests were normal, she didn't really have and Gi issues, just the growth thing, I figured what do we have to loose, and it is really helping. My MIL thinks it's nuts , but has been Ok about avoiding gluten 9she did give her...
  6. My 3.5 yr old dd was just invited to a "make your own Pizza and Cake" party. Could it be worse than that? However, she does understand a party and does really want to go. its' a girl from her dance class, and because she is so much smaller than everyone in the class, for the first several months, no one wanted to partner her, so she is so excited now to...
  7. There is some research that breastfeeding provides protection against autoimmunie disorders including celiac, Krohns' disease, and a few others. That is not to say it prevents it or that a Bf baby won't react to gluten. I did need to remove gluten from my diet with my dd which showed a huge change in her stinky, mucousy poop. Best thing I ever did, as...
  8. Are you breastfeeding? If so k this will help protect her gut and might slow any reactions to it, so they dont' happen everytime. It is also not uncommon for food sensitivities formt eh first year to be outgrown, so avoidign the cereal might be temperary rather tahn forever. My older daughter, now 9, who can eat anything but dairy, couldnt' tolerate anything...
  9. Hi, My daughter has been off gluten for the last month, she is 3 1/2, 35 inches tall, 25 lbs. She has no symptoms other than the slow growth, though she was sensitive as an infant, with horribly stinky diapers. After I took many foods out of my diet (she was completely Breastfed), her diapers, rashes and fussiness improved. We started giving her gluten...
  10. We are also in a similar place right now. I have been gluten-free for 3 1/2 years, since my yongest was born because she reacted to gluten with smelly mucusy poops. When did a gluten challenge after a few months, I felt lousy. I hadn't had significant symptoms, gas, bloating,e tc. but off glutne I felt great. My blood work was mildly positive, and I decided...
  11. MY #4 baby was also the one that needed me to stop all gluten in order for her to thrive. I can only imagine her reaction if I had tried to give her anyting to compensate. Babies do not need cereal ro any other food, breastmilk has it all whether or not you eat gluten in irrelevant. I know with us, given her sensitivities,( I also stopped dairy, soy, all...
  12. My youngest, now 3, was allergic to lots of things as an infant and had rashes all over. We did use the ucerin and aquafor, but I also stopped eating milk, soy, gluten, eggs, and all nuts. So I ate basically meat, fruits and veg. rice and potatoes. I ate constantly, as there isnt' a lot of calories is the above. Lots of snacks or corn chips with bean...
