  1. It might turn out to be easier to keep a 2 year old gluten free is there isn't much gluten in the house for her to decide to want. It's hard enough to find time to prepare one meal for a family, let alone a second gluten free meal that you tr to keep from getting contaminated--we tried that for the first month or so when i was the only one off. s much easier...
  2. Yes, My 13 ds has PANDAS. His OCD started when he was 7, responded very well to CBT. Some social anxiety started to reemerge last spring, and following antoher strep throat infection this winter, the OCD came back in gangbuster form. He has been gluten free only since this Feb--his anxiety did improve some off gluten, but it didn't go away, He just began...
  3. We got the same reaction from our first GI and endo when I suggested going off dairy, as if I suggested locking her in a closet. the firts G did guilt me into ptting her back on Dairy, she had only been off for 2 months. As soon as I did it, her eczema came back and weight gain and growth stopped again. not to mention the tantrums and whining. We went...
  4. how much does your daughter weigh and how tall is she - what was she at 3...... My dd is 29 lb at 4.9 years. She is 38.5 inches tall. At 3, I believe she was almost 24 lbs, 35 inches. At her 2 year old check up she was 23 lbs, most of the gain and growth has occurred in the past 9-10 months, since she turned 4 and we have been stricter with the dairy...
  5. Did you already rule out Cystic Fibosis and the other metabolic disorders? I know our GI I said the next place to look was pancreatic issues and or renal related concerns, though my dd doesn't have any symptoms of that. It's so hard to keep testing and testing when none of it seems to leads to anything but hassle and expense, and stress on the kids. ...
  6. My dd, my fourth, also had weired BMs. They were yellow and liquid whichis normal, but they smelled really bad, which is not, and had the gooey mucousy strings in it when I ate gluten. When I stopped eating t, they smelledlike normla yogurty breastmilk poop and without the gooey bits. At this point, she was only exposed through breastmilk. You could stop...
  7. My dd was gluten free from 6 weeks old until 2 years. I had taken myself ( and thus her) off in infancy b/c of horrible stinky mucousy poop. She's my 4th and I knew it was wrong adn figured it mus be somehting I was eating. After I felt better, I had the blood test, and was still positive even off gluten for a few months. so we btoh stayed off until ...
  8. We just finished out first year gluten free in Feb., and saw only minimal weight gain. My dd isnow 4.5 years. That said, I had her also off dairy for the last 3 months and saw a slight improvement in the growth, though still not much weight. She's also had and endocrinology workup, and we just had a endo/colonoscopylast month to look for other things and...
  9. My dd 4, had 2 premolars extracted in the fall. and another cavity that we fixed. Seh was gluten free from a 1 month old until 2. Then on gluten from 2-3.5 nowback off. I did find a sympathetic dentist this time. My eldest, now 13 had a total of 2, baby teeth that did not have some decay. He had his first fillings at 20 months--his canines came in with...
  10. My dd 4, has been gluten-free for a little over a year. We just gave her gluten for the last month for a biopsy ( she had mny issues which didn't clear up and were looking for other things) In the last 2 weeks she developed a strange rash that looks like the internet pictures of DH that I found. It was in her armpit and side, little blisters that then...
  11. My boy scout is going on his first camp out gluten free this weekend. My younger ones had been the ones officially gluten free, and before that DS was gluten free at home, but ate in on scouts trips and outings. He took himself off glutne last month after an out weekend, when he felt truly miserable. Hamburger and hotdogs are easy (he says) you just...
  12. My 12 year old is refusing , she says she will get the stuff other places already .So I may need suggestions if/when we make the change. You guys have been so helpful!! Thank you thank you.
  13. It's also my fourth child who changed everything like yours, not growing and such. I would make sure you get tests done before your take her off gluten, it will make it easier to get an answer, especially if you see improvement off of it, and then you try to put her back on to confirm with blood test, etc. It's really hard to make things worse after they...
  14. my kids favorite fast breakfast is a smoothy. right now I use a frozen banana or 2 ( I buy the yuckyones cheap at the grocery store, peel, break into chunks and freeze in baggies. Add frozen fruit, my favorite at the moment is two fruit chillers ( they are little pureed fruit things that have also been or sale cheap at a discount store, I just dump in the...
  15. Most of the Disney cereals are also gluten free, My dd loves the Dora's cinnamin stars., we also use Little Einsteins and Pooh. Fruta bu fruit snacks are all fruit no sugar, those are also a hit with my kids. I also make batches of mini-muffins and those are popular while they last. Patty
  16. I had a very similar start to beign gluten free. I gave up gluten for my nursing baby who was reacting, also dairy, soy and corn. I didn't tink I was sick o deficient before, though had had intermittent IBS like symptoms and horrid gas. After a few months, I realized that had all stopped for me. I then got the blood work done, and had the same results...
  17. I agree that kids are usually way more focused on things other than the food, though beign gluten free myself, I also hav ebeen frustrated when my husband suggested we serve a gluten cake, and the kids can just have somehtign else. Sometimes I want cake. In addition to all the chips, snacks, etc. We did kabobs once that had grapes, apple chunks, pineapple...
  18. She hasnt been officially diagnosed, though has been gluten-free for a year and is growing better. Patty
  19. We also haven't had amazing growth, though we did see an initial spurt it leveled. My dd has been followed by the enocrinologist the past year, an while she is still in the 1.5 percetile, she is growing on the curve. Also have a short husband, so it might just be. . . s hard to know when to worry and when to relax patty
  20. My dd 4, also just had two extracted, a few other cavities as well They also seemed to go from fine, to a crumbling tooth in short order. Patty
  21. I realize that this is a little late, but breastfeeding after augmentation is usually easier than reduction. Most implants are inserted behind the glands and ducts, so mikl supply isn't effected. In some cases ducts may hae been severed, but with stimluation (nursing your baby) they can re-grow and your supply could increase. (recannalization) I"m one...
  22. My dd, now 4, reacted to everything in my breastmilk a an infant, so that' whe I went gluten and dairy free. She was off both unitl she turned 2, with no tests other than when I stopped eating it in infancy she changed from a rash covered screaming baby with foul diarhea to a soft skinned happier baby with normal bm. At 2 we gave her the offending foods...
  23. hard to know if the rash is directly cuased by the gluten or by the diarhea. My dd had pimply rashes, we treated it with Bacitracin ointment. I love that stuff. We also used a solution of 1 T of baking soda disolved in 1 C of boiling water. I kept it with the diaper things and dipped my wipe in it before wiping a few times a day. It's an anitfungal treatment...
  24. I don't have any answers, just similiar concerns. My ds 7 and dd 4 have been gluten free sinceI think March, and had initial wieght gain, then nothing. A little height growth, and then nothing. Doctor is worried about dd who had been to the endocrinologist and a GI, actually her blood work is all normal so far, it's so hard for me to know what to do. ...
  25. I don't know abou the vitamin d. But I have 4 year old who was gluten free until age 2. We gave her gluten, she showed no real symptoms, negative blood test. Except for the slowed growth. By the time she reached 3, it was no growth. Took a few months glutne and diary free to get her gorwing again, an it's still slow. Sigh. Now the endocrinologist wants...
