  1. my 4 year old and 2 year old eat them, they seem fine. I am currently trying to find gluten-free marshmallows so I can make them into crisp bars for christmas
  2. if you mix the corn and rice they taste like crispex I like the gorilla munch cereal too, it tastes sorta like captain crunch peanut butter if you close your eyes.
  3. I got mine from the local health food store (Akins) it was about $3.00 and makes 2 loaves. Their crackers are really good too, esp. in meatloaf. Open Original Shared Linkhere is a link to their site so you can see if they sell it near you
  4. I just made a loaf of cornbread from the Ener-G gluten free cornbread mix. It is soo good. I modified the recipe (added extra sugar and more milk) but it tastes just like Grandma's homemade cornbread used to taste and is really easy and quick. I think I am officially cornbread addicted now.
  5. good to know thanks.
  6. hmm. you learn something new everyday. Thank you for clarifying, I think I probably just scanned the ingredients last year and didn't look to see which ones were "turkey" and which were "gravy" anyway I think I am going with the honeysuckle white. sounds like better idea if worried about cross-contamination (and I am, my 2 year old is highly sensitive...
  7. I know that last year butterball had gluten in it, but that Jenny-0 and Honeysuckle white was gluten-free also. You should recheck this year though because they may have changed it. EDIT: my good deed for the day.... I checked it out for you!!!! Does Honeysuckle White® Turkey contain gluten or MSG? Most all of our products are MSG and gluten ...
  8. wow. thank you so much. I went out and bought some aloe vera like you said and she says it feels better. I was feeling so guilty about her being in pain from my mistake of not putting my makeup up correctly. I guess I will learn though.
  9. My 4 year old (gluten free for 2 weeks now) got into my makeup and put some on (little girls do that some times) anyway the lipstick had gluten in it (I didn't know because I am not gluten-free and I didn't expect my girls to wear it) now she has a bad rash on and around her lips. She says it hurts, what can I put on it to help her? Cornstarch isn't working...
  10. how long it takes to heal depends on who it is that is healing, 36 days is kinda soon to expect a huge improvement though, esp. if he was really damaged. What does his doctor have to say about all of this?
  11. Okay so here is my official menu (any comments/additions/advice welcome) *Turkey (got a guy that will smoke it for free, is that okay? I heard that smoked meat was off limits to Celiacs. He isn't adding anything to it and the turkey is gluten-free) * Green Beans * Broccoli rice casserole (my husband requested, anyone know a good gluten-free...
  12. I just volunteered to make Thanksgiving dinner for my family (of course Me, my hubby, and my kids) and my in-laws. Since both of the kiddos are gluten-free now, I have decided to do a completely gluten-free thanksgiving. and here comes the help I have never made Thanksgiving dinner before in my life, much less a gluten-free dinner. HELP!!!!...
  13. we use it too, be sure to always get the mild though as the hot has gluten (or it does here) I also use it on pork chops and sometimes chicken breast. They taste really good even if you aren't in a taco mood.
  14. My daugter went through a simliar struggle. She got really sick at 11 months and was in and out of the hospital for a month. She was sick enough to be in the ER 7 times in one month and was admited 3 times, she had intusseption (never did learn how to spell that) they did the surgery and sent her home and she was still sick, I had to cart her back to the...
  15. yeah that would be more convenient except for you would be sick This tastes better though. The clean up isn't too bad if you use paper plates/bowls for the breading and line the pan with foil. I would love to go pick up dinner, but it is more inconvenient now because I have to throw my "cross contamination fit" all the time so I have tried to get over it...
  16. ditto. and a lot of the gluten-free mixes are pretty good now. I made brownies from Bob's Red Mill brownie mix tues night for a thing at church and everyone said they were really good, nobody believed they were gluten-free. everything will be fine. if people complain just ignore them, you need to be happy and healthy.
  17. yeah at church all the kids have stickers on their backs with thier names on them Annika's has a bright red border and her name and under it in all caps it says ONLY FEED SNACKS FROM BAG!!!!!!!!!
  18. I went through the same thing (still am ) I attatched a tag to my daughters diaperbag that is about 5in by 8in (it's huge I know) it says in big block letters GLUTEN IS POISON FOR ANNIKA DO NOT FEED HER ANYTHING THAT ISN'T IN THIS BAG SHE WILL GET SICK AND IT WILL BE YOUR FAULT It seems to work most of the time. I know it is tacky, but what...
  19. we do a lot better at restraunts, we have found out where some are that have gluten free menus and we can just go to those places. It is very hard at family dinners because they assume so much misc family memeber:"well it's just chicken broccoli rice and cheese, she can eat all that" me: "is there anything else at all in it?" and "what kind of cheese...
  20. to be fair there are many people in my church who do much better than this woman did, in fact she is quite in the minority there, that is just my best example, I have many more problems with people who are in my family then I do with the people at church.
  21. I second that advice, it worked for my 80 year old grandpa and is working with my 4 year old daughter. Just about anything you want can be made gluten-free and most time it tastes the same and sometimes even better concentrate on naturally gluten-free things that are awesome (like fruit )
  22. My 4 year old said the cutest thing just now, "you know how the preacher said that if you are doing something right that satan will come against you? well, God must really want me to feel better or people wouldn't be so mean to you about my gluten-free diet" I think I am going to have to learn from her, that her health is worth fighting for, I really must...
  23. Okay so my daughter Kathryn has decided to go gluten-free to see if some of her physical symptoms subside. She is having these symptoms stomach cramping muscle aches trouble concentrating irritability bone aches trouble sleeping (because of aches and pains) She is constantly cranky and claims to be in pain, she has dark circles around her...
  24. Thank you for the advice. I sat down with the principal today and we talked about Kathryn's new diet and what her needs would be. She is going to do some research and also sit down with me and the school nurse, kathryn's teacher and the cafeteria manager later this week. This week she would like for me to bring breakfast/snacks for Kathryn, but after that...
  25. it is a public school and they are definatly funded by the govt. they even get special govt. grants because of thier literacy rate and such, so who do you think I talk to about this, the prinicpal, or the school board, I don't want to accidentally go over someone's head or make problems, I am just trying to keep things as normal as possible for her.
