  1. Hello hello Sillyville!! Things are finally getting back to normal around here. This 2BR apt is NOT made for 4 residents. Roommate John's mom left yesterday and daughter heads out later today. So . .. .what'd I miss????? Janet & Carla!!! Carla & Janet!!!! Woohooo to the in-person meeting!! AND to providing the obligatory pix...
  2. Heheheheehee I had all sorts of responses run through my head but thought same of posting them there. Yay Janet's back! And Amanda's in! And Carla had an anniversary! Now . . ... . . Where's Sarah? We haven't been at full-strength in too long, for my taste. P.S. Aha! And Bev! Haven't we been Bev-less too much lately?
  3. Doesn't celiac = 4F? I'd be asking Navy Dr.s what it'll take to prove it to them. No way does a celiac belong on a ship, subject to a general diet.
  4. Hoo-boy . . .. .. .where to start? Are we sure this isn't just some shill for an alleged candida pill? Discounting that, doesn't Jimbo's saying lead to the scenario where the actual cause of the gluten-related symptoms always were due to candida alone. Somehow celiac was stumbled upon, and was wrongly attributed to be the cause, but it was finally...
  5. Absolutely. As far as sugar etc not showing up in a test, I think it's just a different situation than what the test looks for. The sugar feeds the yeast, but the test can only look at the body's reaction, not the yeasts'. (?) I'm not saying this well at all. Maybe someone else can, or I can try again later.
  6. Ponder away all!! I must know the hemispherical, continental & global viewpoints on this "Only in America" phenomenon!!!!!!!!
  7. Almoooooooost caught up .. ... On to the W.Sauce!!!!!!!!!!! Dad spent some early yrs in the States' very own Wooster, Worcester Mass. But somehow, the unanimously agreed-upon pronounciation of w.sauce, where *I* grew up, was **********wore-stir-shear******** Sure, only 2 out of 3 are wool-related . . .. . . .. .so far. <pssst!>...
  8. Incredible. All the talk w/ sis is "wake her 15min before we go", but somehow well after *I* think she's waking the kids, she's thinking she's still waiting for some signal from ME to say "yes, ok, let's go". WTH is w/ THAT???? Throw in some insane 5:15am airport crowd and I can't get to the front of the line in time. Now I'm stuck for 3 more hrs...
  9. Oh yes, "do we ever"!! My plea of silliness was more to refrain or explain me-OWN-se'f from the soapboxin train re: affairs tout le monde. (Yes .. .barely any sense in that .. or less . .. . but I'm tired and will be at airport in 8hrs, at ~5am. )
  10. Oops I DID overstate this. I was trying to hurry it up while the kids washed up for dinner. So .. . While high mercury may usually mean high yeast, I don't believe high yeast usually means high mercury.
  11. I am a little surprised to see it mentioned here, but earlier was telling my sister how, for something 1/2 a world away, this single death saddened me more than I expected. It's a blow to humanity. Remember, there were attempts on her 1st day back also. Too much to say on the rest, and we MUST maintain Silliness for the future of Sillyville and...
  12. After considering the risks involved w/ doing so, I've again decided to present an opposing viewpoint in this, an open forum. While I have no reason to dispute that high levels of mercury lead to high levels of yeast - and in fact, like the theory whereby the body allows yeast to propagate & surround the merc, thus protecting the body from it - I still...
  13. Ugh Yet another GI who barely knows diddly about Celiac. YOU know your body & mind. YOU know the difference that going gluten-free makes. So many of us have experienced the neuro symptoms you describe. I, too, think you should find a new Dr.
  14. Heeheehee that cracks me up! We did that too in our family!!!
  15. Re: anti-candida diet While this may be true for some people, there's no way to tell if the fruit IS (or was?) preventing recovery until you go w/out it for a while. If someone's getting better while having some fruit, that's great of course. I went all-out and wouldn't even have a carrot, as it's considered sweet enough to feed the yeastbeast...
  16. Just a pop-in to quell any MIA or AWOL chatter. Haven't been terribly sick or anything - just enough to not have any silly goin' on. Getting sick at all, once becoming this accustomed to feeling good sucks at ANY time, but it sure is double-bad timing for it to be on a vacation AND over Christmas w/ little ones. I've looked in a couple times,...
  17. Andrea, love the new av. (Did I see that one on the wall or somewhere? It seems familiar ) And I get a laugh out of seeing a hand on the little guy's shoulder, considering he'd busted loose in the shot I took. Kassandra, I'm far from a candida expert. I've treated one patient. Besides these diet sites, and numerous other info sites, I went...
  18. Utterly exhausted from the shopping, else I'd be chiming in on soooooooooo much. Hopefully will do later. But THIS had to be posted! LOL a Festivus for the rest of us! Ran into this in the San Jose newspaper's "3 things to do today" blurb. Open Original Shared Link Looks a mite bit cheesy but it cracks me up that it's done at...
  19. I believe it could, tho I wish I knew a lot more about the causes of leaky gut. I had a test like this and the high yeast scores led me to find I had a yeast overgrowth / intestinal candida problem. You should certainly look into that. I ended up w/ a Naturopath, as MDs don't seem to do much about it. Google "candida quiz" and "candida spit test...
  20. Mark me down in the "Idiot" column. What a rotten position to be in, having to dispute a bad, imo, Dr to a believer.
  21. Alex!!!!!!! love that confetti!!! No time for quoting right now but thx for the replies to my dilemma. I did look up hotels w/ kitchenettes last night and none are very close, tho I might still have to do it. [edit: yes, Susie, it would be sad. I don't want to. So whether too sad vs. feeling safe gluten-wise, remains to be seen. ] I truly...
  22. Hi Kassandra, Don't know how I missed this yesterday, but I'll blame my having a cold. (So strange to have a cold - at least I think it is - after not having one for so many yrs. I'm talkin maybe not since the 90s!) Yes, I did the strictest possible anti-candida diet for at least 18mos. It was probably overkill, since soy turned out to be such a...
  23. I've become so disappointed and even a little depressed, tho some of that may be the cold/sickness talking. My sister had been, at a minimum, wheat-light for many years. Now, there isn't a single countertop, table or surface, where I haven't seen crumbs or bread or tortillas. A couple hours ago, I even found a piece of a wheat tortilla IN MY BED...
  24. A lot of forum members eat "Lays Stax". I haven't, as I think their "one or more of the following" oils is a problem for me. I used to eat the plain Kettle chips - never liked their ridged ones - or T-joe's plain. Gave 'em up in June and only rarely am tempted.
  25. Bah! Certainly no fun there. But you can get something positive from it as it IS a datapoint. Some reactions can be from something eaten prior to the day of the symptoms, but I think it'd be rare for 'burning & bloated'. So something you had today caused it. Maybe a minor ingred, which is why the detective work is easier when the diet is simpler...
