ARCHIVED More Help Please
tom replied to Joe Hoffman's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
There are some testing options that may speed up the process. You can get details in the "OMG thread". (Do NOT try to read it all - just add your questions and check back) Otherwise, or actually, either way, a food/symptom diary is crucial. Personally, if finding out thru elim diet, I'd eliminate MANY foods all at once, then slowly try one at a time... -

Getting Eli Manning to play like his bro Payton would be a welcome gift! (If you can do that, would you please bless my Bears w/ same?) OK, what else does he do in his free time? Perhaps when it's NOT football season? -

Fantastic! What a relief that must be. Now - grabbed this on Sherry's thread to reply to here. Heck yeah! I'd love to! :) My sister used to be nearly gluten-free, or at a minimum VERY wheat-lite. Not any more. I've been in the presence of gluten more in the past 2 days than probably the cumulative amount of the past 4 yrs. Don... -

Ack!! Summer in Phx? I call it "116 in the shade & there ain't much shade". Early spring, late fall or winter are best times for Phx. But Sunflower & Sprouts ARE fantastic!! Not the $$$$ of WhFds and a better selection than T-joe's. I moved back to the bay area (San Jose) from Phx a couple months ago and I do miss those stores. ... -

And it's not just a loud cry. It's a piercing scream. You know when you go to a summer Arts&Crafts festival and a leatherworker is finishing a belt, making the holes for some future belt-owner's girth adjustment? Well lay my head down and let 'im mallet the awl into my auditory canal and I may be less uncomfortable than being near this little fella... -

job But don't discount the dairy part. Like Patti said, the damaged villi just aren't capable of producing what you need to digest dairy yet. You probably can't find a new job today, but you CAN go dairy-free today. Not forever. Just a few months until the villi heal. -

ARCHIVED Glutenease
tom replied to terps19's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Peanuts don't normally kill people either, but I bet none of us would recommend some analogous product to a family member w/ that killer peanut allergy. Perhaps glutenease could help someone w/ a slight gluten-intolerance, but I believe it's quite misleading and even dangerous the way the company talks about it. Dangerous in that imho it's not a safety... -

tom replied to mftnchn's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Hehehe Sherry I was guessing the S was sugar!! (Silly me! Now I remember some of the tasty treats you've mentioned before) Sugar knocks out many jarred sauces for me. The GFCFSFSF(!) one I like best is Amy's Roasted Garlic, tho it is expensive. It's organic also - I usually react to non-organic tomatoes, and for that matter some organic ones. I'm... -

ARCHIVED Go To Aj's In Arizona
tom replied to Cinderella's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
AJ's is a high-end or gourmet grocery store, owned by the Basha's chain, which is a competitor to Safeway etc. I bet the cookie's great, but AJ's doesn't do much gluten-free. I asked them once and they sniffed "we're not a health food or natural food store". For gluten-free, I was going to Sunflower, Sprouts, T-joe's and WhFds. -
ARCHIVED Questions For Experienced Celiac Veterans
tom replied to Joe Hoffman's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
(I know you were quoting someone else, cyberprof ) I had done elimination tests for soy twice and thought them inconclusive. Then, somehow, last June, I did another but let it go longer. It wasn't until day TWELVE that I knew I'd found my answer. I got my life back. (I'd been gluten-free 3.5 yrs, dairy-free 3yrs, etc etc) Soooooooooo... -

I use Quinoa Flakes in some applications. They're usually in the cereal aisle, as they're meant to be a hot cereal, like Cream-of-Wh .. . ..lol I don't even want to type the W word!!!!!!!! For one, they're awesome in breading for fried fish. Mmmmmmmmm!! -
