ARCHIVED Modified Food Starch - Correction Of Misconception
Scott Adams replied to RKB-MD's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I would like to please remind everyone again that the #1 rule on this board is: Do not be abusive or otherwise out of line towards other board members. Show respect for each board member, no matter what you think of their views. This is not a place to quarrel. I keep seeing posts in this thread that do nothing but fan the flames of what really should... -
ARCHIVED Modified Food Starch - Correction Of Misconception
Scott Adams replied to RKB-MD's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Again, even if the modified food starch were made from wheat it would have to be labeled "From Wheat" if it is sold in the USA. I have no idea why there is so much concern for this ingredient after all of the years that the national support groups have put into determining its safety. As long as it does not say that it is made from wheat on the label it is... -
ARCHIVED Modified Food Starch - Correction Of Misconception
Scott Adams replied to RKB-MD's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
It is highly unlikely that such an ingredient would be bought more cheaply outside the USA, after all, we are the additive capital of the world, but the labeling law still would cover the product--they would have to identify "wheat" on the label if it was used, so they would have to say "Modified Wheat Starch" or "Modified Food Starch (From Wheat)." I've... -

Scott Adams replied to RKB-MD's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Let's all please calm down--I want to remind everyone of the Board's #1 rule: 1) Do not be abusive or otherwise out of line towards other board members. Show respect for each board member, no matter what you think of their views. This is not a place to quarrel. I believe that anyone who makes a claim--in this case that Modified Food Starch may contain... -
ARCHIVED Spell Check - Handicaped With Out It
Scott Adams replied to Lisa's topic in Board/Forum Technical Help
It is part of the browser, I'm not sure who designs AOL's browser, but I think it was originally Netscape. In any case, it is a browser feature that adds the specll check in there--I spoke to tech support for this board and they do not have a spell checker built in. Take care, Scott -
ARCHIVED Spell Check - Handicaped With Out It
Scott Adams replied to Lisa's topic in Board/Forum Technical Help
I just tested this and what you are seeing is a Microsoft Internet Explorer feature. This isn't part of the forum. If you have a different browser like Mozilla FireFox you will not see it. I too go the message that IESpellcheck was not installed and to click here to install it, when I did nothing happened so obviously they need to work on that feature. In... -
ARCHIVED Spell Check - Handicaped With Out It
Scott Adams replied to Lisa's topic in Board/Forum Technical Help
My guess is that you are seeing a browser feature and not a forum feature. I do not see it and don't believe that the forum has a spell checker built in. Take care, Scott -
