  1. Bless her heart, i wish doctors were more clued in. I hate to think of children suffering especially when its something that can be figured out with a simple bloodtest. I wrote an article the other day for a childrens news site/program, i even mentioned that i was trying to get awareness up.. they didnt even put it in the health section aparently its not...
  2. Well everything is either masculine or feminine, its a bit awkward trying to work out which it is though. Your correct, some words just dont have a substitute like salad and pizza. Im in secondary school, next year is my last year i then hope to go to college and university, ive always wanted to work with children and then one of my freinds jokingly...

    ARCHIVED Frustrated

I know this forum is for doctors but seeing as there isnt one to rant about their nurses i thought here would be the best place. My consultant asked my pearents to get their calcium and PTH checked along with being screened for coeliac. Today we went to my GPs surgry to see the nurse. First she said my pearents couldnt have any of the checks because...
  4. just wondering TBH lol. We are about 45mins to an hour from the Heath, thats where i had to go for my biopsy even though the gwent is actually closer. My first language is english but im doing a full GCSE (General Certificate in Secondary education) in welsh, by the end of that i should be fluent. I did french for three years and i was ok at it, but i...
  5. i have listened, all the way through, about 5 or 6 times.. it doesnt make much difference. AliB im glad you hoffi cymru (like Wales) how far away from the burns unit are you?
  6. we live in south wales, in Ynysddu near blackwood, its not too far from newport... and its a miricle i didnt write that in welsh when it comes to places i go striaght into welsh mode
  7. I agree with the previous poster, if your doctor wont listen to you and insists on going against DH without testing a clear patch then either get another dr. or test is yourself (i.e go gluten free for a bit- if it clears up then theres your answer). Its terrible not knowing, i had nearly a year of that, it was so frustraring especially when my tests...
  8. I feel your pain - i was diagnosed about 2 weeks before christmas and my 15th birthday, you should take some snacks of your own, maybe your mom could make you a cupcake or something to eat while the others hve the birthday cake? I know its not the same but at least its cake, good luck
  9. I see your point. Me and my mother have a very strong relationship, and talk about anything its just sometimes the conversations turn into lectures about stuff i already know and then it gets frustrating and i walk out of the room to avoid an argument. I just dont want it to be the only topic of conversation, i have other things that i need to talk about...
  10. Im very laid back when it comes to medical issues, i dont tend to worry about it and when i do i dont let on that im worried or scared. My theory is that there is no point getting upset over something you cant change, you should give yourself a few days to take in what is happening and the carry on as best you can. I dont go over things again and again and...
  11. after my freinds got used to me eating differently they stopped asking to try my food, and as long as i dont draw too much attention to myself when im eating no-one even notices.. except one freind, Alex who saw me eating pitta bread and when she saw there was flour on it she thought id gone mad (it was rice flour)

I think that is too true, many doctors have lost sight of patient care which is why im glad that here in the uk hospitals are trust and therefore government run meaning doctors have to at least try every possible avenue, and you can get as many other opinions as you like, free of charge (NHS).
  13. aka means also known as and i wouldnt be surprised if some cigarettes do contain gluten.. as well as the other junk they put in there. As other posters have said it could also be because you are a non-smoker and smoking a few at once would have been a huge shock to your system.
  14. Welcome to the forum, youve come to the right place for help and support At first it will seem hard but dont worry it will get easier, as well as the obvious things that contain gluten you need to watch out for things like sausages, soups, burgers. At the start its best to try and go for things that are naturally gluten free like unprossesed meats...
  15. wow congtratulaitions, and what a sweet way to let you know
  16. Yes the shampoo can really make a difference if i were you id stop using it straight away. In my experience shop brands tend not to have gluten in them (but i live in the UK it could be different where you are). I know it doesnt make sense.. it didnt to me.. but then again the human body rarely does. Coeliac is oftern triggerd by a stressful event...

  18. i think thats a wonderful idea, good on you
  19. As the other posters have said, it will take you a little while to feel completly well again. If you live in a gluten eating house-hold then you could be getting CC from things like shared toasters, butters makeup etc. Another thing to watch out for is hidden gluten, you'd be surprised what ive found it in, make sure you check things like sausages, burgers...
  20. well thats just stupid, as the previous poster pointed out, you didnt decide to have 3 children at once .. some people really need to think about what they are saying dont they.
  21. i got home from my cousins party around 2 or 3 hours ago and i now feel really ill but i dont get how i could of been glutened because the only thing i ate at the party was crisps (ready salted). The only possible thing i can think of is CC, but even that seems unlikely because i got first pick of the crisps (my cousin was well prepared).. unless its something...
  22. ive had people who think its the end of the world too.. but well done to you for rising above it, its their problem not yours and they shouldnt of been listening to what you were saying anyway people like that are either really tactless or really idiotic.. or both. Most of the time its down to a lack of education, people always act stupidly with things...

    ARCHIVED Grrr

oh and another thing they seem to think that just because your under 16 they can talk to you like your three (i find GPs are the worst for this) ggrr just because im young doesnt mean im stupid.. or that they can talk to the wall

    ARCHIVED Grrr

ok thats it ive had enough, ive read to many accounts of shody patient care and a sheer inability to look at the facts. I was lucky enough to get a good peadi GI. who knows his stuff and didnt just go 'oh we'll monitor you' But it infuriates me to see that others of you have been less fortunate. i mean how hard can it be to listen to what we have...

    ARCHIVED Endoscopy Clarification

grrr some doctors are so clueless, doesnt it just do your head in. If your not eating gluten then your body isnt reacting so the damage cant be done therefore the scope will be negative.. geez what is so hard for them to understand. If she continues to say that being gluten free isnt an issue you need a new doctor. Some doctors have just lost sight of good...
