  1. Hi Rachelle! You have gotten great advice so far. My personal opinion on the whole "official diagnosis" thing is that unless you need it for insurance purposes, to get subsidies for gluten free food, etc. then perhaps the hell you will go through will be worth it. But keep one thing in mind (well, actually, two..... ) First off, there are many...
  2. Another thing I love about the Kraft bbq sauces is that they are also always the cheapest. I spend too much money already on items that are gluten free - it's good to always pick up Kraft bbq sauce at rock bottom prices!
  3. I am TOTALLY loyal to Kraft. I have never had a problem..... Kaiti, love the new pic! Who's the hunk? Karen
  4. Hi Steve! Welcome to the forum! You'll find there's alot of us Canadians on here! You have certainly had quite a journey. Unfortunately, it is a journey all too familiar to us in the celiac community. Not that you need any reassurance, but as far as I am concerned, you have found the root of your problem. You are finally on the right track...
  5. Hi Turtle, I don't know what causes it, but I get it periodically....... But then again, my jaw clicks every time I chew, so perhaps it just get aggravated...... Hugs. Karen
  6. You already have been officially diagnosed - positive bloodwork. The only thing a biopsy would be good for now is to see (a) if there is any villi damage, and to what extent and ( to possibly do another biopsy in two years to see what improvement has taken place with the gluten free diet and © to make sure there are no other complications in there due ...
  7. The last time I researched it (maybe 6 months ago?) Maalox was not gluten free. I get best results with Pepto Bismol......
  8. Here's a few additional snipets from a website linked to the one above: The first two sound certainly like celiac. But the last two cast shadows of doubt.... Perhaps she was and just did not know what it was she had and what exactly triggered the symptoms..... Karen
  9. I always found taking liquid iron was easiest for me to absorb and easiest on my stomach.....
  10. Hi Linda! I checked out a package of the taco mix alone at the supermarket, and on that ingredient list, there is no wheat. That's how I finally figured out that it was okay. p.s. Thanks for thinking of me! How is your dog doing? Oh, and Lisa, I am kinda "popping" in and out! Hope all is well with you and wedding plans are running smoothly! ...
  11. I posted about this before, as it confused me also.... The taco mix is gluten free. When you buy the whole package, the ingredients are listed in such a way that the wheat they are actually talking about is the wheat in the tortillas, but the way it's listed it's printed right under the taco mix ingredients...... They really should change it. I was...
  12. FOLIC ACID!!!! It's a must! The baby's nervous system and spine etc. are already developed before you even know you are pregnant, so having folic acid already abundant in your system is essential! Karen
  13. The safest rule to live by is "If not 100% sure, it does not touch your body". I always follow the list to the letter. It's alot safer that way. I would not use it until confirmed by the company. But that's me...... Good ole safe, boring Karen! Karen
  14. Here's the list from delphi, Lister: Household Products Ajax (Colgate-Palmolive) (800-763-0246) (www.colgate.com) (ve=03/15/04) All purpose cleaner (Lemon & Ammonia), Cleanser, Dish Liquids (All), Laundry Detergents (Powders & Liquids) Amway (000.000.0000) (00/00/00) Dish Drops; L.O.C Amway (www.amway.com) (ve=12/03/2003) Sa8 Bioquest...
  15. LOL! I know all about a "kid-controlled" house! Except, Eileen thinks it's a tween-controlled house, Rhiannon thinks it's a 7 yr old-controlled house and of course the boys think they totally control everything! I'm glad he's asleep. I always slept with the kids when they had a stomach bug. My instinct would wake me up as soon as they woke and I had...
  16. I don't see it over at delphi....... Karen
  17. Hope he's feeling better Vincent! I second the popsicles (or freezies). That's what my kids usually go for..... and Jell-O. Hugs. Karen
  18. Hi Guys! Nini has an awesome newbie folder put together that includes the delphi list. PM NIni and she'll e-mail it to ya! Karen
  19. I am absolutely amazed at the negative response over at delphi on the celiac episode! They are downright outraged and angry! I believe our thoughts on the show are much more appreciative and tolerant to the "liberties taken" in writing the celiac story...... Karen
  20. Every person's response to the gluten free diet is different. Some people experience immediate improvment, others it takes over 2 years for the healing to begin...... Depends on the severity of the damage, I guess...... Karen
  21. Lister, How about listing everything you ate 24 hours prior to the suspect poop? Maybe we can identify what could have caused it (oranges is definitely one, happens to me also!) For example, did you eat anything with onions the day before? Any veggies or fruit with skin on? Karen
  22. Lister, make no mistake, people have died from this disease..... Undiagnosed celiac kills...... Even diagnosed, there are cases (and complications), google up refractory celiac sprue, or ulcerative jejunitis. Karen
  23. I think it's ringworm that's the fungus...... Two of my four children had it from day care...... Karen
  24. Naw, just good ole brain fog! Hugs. Karen
  25. Oh my Good Lord! This is on that link! Talk about leading them astray!!!! Those are the LEAST knowledgeable about celiac! Karen
