  1. Not sure if it is related to Celiac or just a plain common occurence, but I also had recurrent tonsillitis through my childhood. Finally had them taken out in my 20's........ Karen
  2. Hi Ursula, I can see a pic of you - try hitting refresh, if that doesn't work, you may need to log out and log back in? Hugs! Karen
  3. Radman, Are the bolded parts above dates? If so, those are pretty outdated studies...... Karen
  4. Hi Danielle! I am so glad you decided to come out of the "lurkers" closet and join the ranks! I hope your gluten effects don't last too long....... Boy, it sucks bigtime when it happens! Glad you found us and have found some comfort here, as many of us have...... Welcome! Karen
  5. What really bothers me is how doctors are still going by the biopsy as the "gold standard". When they do the biopsy, you may very well have significant damage, but if they happen to snatch little parts of the wall that aren't affected, the damage won't show! Its kinda like someone having a patchy DH rash on their back and telling someone, "Okay, close your...
  6. I know! Adzuki beans. What the heck is that??? I have already written to Kraft, but the more letters they receive the better! I just received my "What's Cooking" magazine from them today (it comes out 5 times a year and it is free!). Go Here: Open Original Shared Link Karen
  7. Why in God's name would they name it that????? I can just imagine a discussion around the water cooler at work: Girl #1: "Oh Trixie, I have to tell you what I discovered!! I tried Oxy Powder to get rid of my constipation and it worked wonders!! You just HAVE to try it!" Girl #2: "Thank you so much for telling me, Gertrude! I have such...
  8. You mean the Oxy-Powder used for laundry? If so, I would say it's sounds like it is as safe as swallowing Javex Sounds darnright suicidal. Karen
  9. Type them. But for you, Dahlink! I would do anything for you! I will type them out tonight after all rugrats are snugly tucked into their beds! Hugs! Karen
  10. Have you come across in your research so far the reason why I asked such a question? Celiac is more prevalent in some ethnicities than others. Open Original Shared Link Open Original Shared Link Open Original Shared Link The last thread, you will notice you are in good company! Karen
  11. Anytime! Again, welcome! We're here if you need us...... Hugs. Karen
  12. Hi Jaimi and welcome to the board! Okay, first thing to do is slow down and take a long, deep breath. In deep, out slowly...... there..... that's better! There is no need to panic. There are soooo many things that you can still have it will amaze you. Firstly, you will come to LOVE Kraft. Kraft is one of the companies us celiacs love as...

  15. Just a couple of questions, Radman 1. Have you given any thought to having the gene testing done? 2. What is your ethnic origin? Karen
  16. I just re-read my post and realize that is sounds kinda "preachy". That was not my intention. I was attempting to point out that there are other factors that are taken into consideration when people decide how zealous they are in regards to this diet. Karen
  17. Radman, I can understand your position and accept the fact that you wish to question the need for such strict adherence to the diet. If I were in a different position, I may have also decided to follow that path. Be that as it may, I am the mother of four young children who depend on me. God has blessed me with these children (even after I was told...
  18. Gorilla Munch is a type of cereal from Envirokids. It's very good - alot like corn pops. Hemp seeds are extremely good for you and no, you wouldn't test positive. Here's a link: Open Original Shared Link Open Original Shared Link Karen
  19. I would go nuts without my cereal in the morning. I have Gorilla Munch from Envirokids, with hemp seeds sprinkled on top - delicious! Karen
  20. I suck at baking - I'll just send Altoids....... Karen
  21. Well I guess that's a good sign that you still feel brave enough to "stimulate discussion" with us! Karen
  22. Radman, There is absolutely no way you can gross any of us out in your descriptions of bowel movements. Trust me, we have discussed it at length, in great detail, the texture, colour, consistency, frequency, smell, etc. etc. We have even celebrated when someone finally got a normal one! There's not too much that we don't feel free discussing...
  23. I take Prozac, Wellbutrin and Levothyroxine for my thyroid. I don't take anything to help me sleep (even though I am up through the night mostly from around 2 or 3 a.m. till around 5 or 6 a.m.). The reason I don't take anything though is because that it the time my bowels are most active due to the collagenous colitis (which is often nocturnal). Therefore...

  25. Welcome! I'm in Clarington region....... This is a great board with lots of great people here..... Karen
