ARCHIVED Celiac And Dating/relationships
cupid replied to jasonD2's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Hi, I'm just starting to feel good enough to get back into the dating game but wondered how quickly do you tell someone you have celiac? I don't want to scare them off before they take a chance to get to know me. -
ARCHIVED Ahh! I Dont Want To Starve!
cupid replied to LuvMoosic4life's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Hi, Just a thought but if you have a library nearby maybe you could find a gluten-free cook book to get more ideas. A friend of mine who also has celiac highly recommends the Annalise Roberts cook book. Good luck! -
Good advice ShayFl, I will try this. Its also hard to find gluten-free stuff thats low fat so I'm sure thats contributing too. Especially if low in fiber since fiber carrys fat out of the body. Its funny but before I had to go gluten-free/cf I knew the nutrtional guidelines to follow to stay healthy and actually did pretty well while I had the energy...

I'm gaining wt too but its different than when I use to gain wt before going gluten-free/cf. I use to gain wt all over and it was more solid but now i'm gaining more in my stomach and thighs but seems to be more puffy/bloated. My friend suggested maybe not drinking enough water. I'm going to try an increase my water consumption and see what happens. Any...

ARCHIVED Internal Itching Anyone?
cupid replied to discountshopper's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Hi, I just experienced the internal ichy stomache when I tried to do the candidia diet but assumed it was from getting rid of the toxins but also started a digestive pill @ same time so now I'm wondering about which caused it. Need to do the diet again but since haven't been on gluten-free/cf diet very long found it very hard!! -
My friend who is a Director @ the Medical Examiners Office said w/ sarcasm"come on you can eat a little, you're not THAT sick" Evidently, she is so focused on her job she can't realize even though you may look healthy on the outside you actually could be very sick!

ARCHIVED Silly Question I Know But I Will Ask Anyway
cupid replied to Krystens mummy's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Wow, I'm amazed @ how many people I've met w/ celiac that have these symptoms. I was diagnosed w/ TMJ(jaw clicked on left side) 6 yrs ago and my Dr wanted to do steroid injection therapy but insurance didn't cover it so didn't do this treatment. Started to have problems w/ my right hip and noticed left shoulder was lower than right. A friend of mine who... -

The Outback has an awesome gluten-free menu and so does Chicago Pizza Uno Grille, Bonefish Grille, and Carrabas. Ck out glutenfreerestaurants.com. I'm still new to this myself and had planned to eat @ a local greek restuarant this wk that has great gluten-free selections before a meeting but they were closed. Initially started to panic but went to the...

ARCHIVED Against The Grain
cupid replied to a1sacch's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I agree absolutley delicious! Only wish it was lower in fat. Trust me I will indulge once in a while but I'm probably the opposite of most and have a wt issue from gluten so the extra fat will make it harder for me to lose. Actually having a hard time finding low fat, great tasting products. Love bread and have found another bread I love too by Le Garden... -

Gluten-Free Shampoo/Hair Products
cupid replied to a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Hi, I called Victoria Principal and was told all products gluten-free. I've used it for over two yrs and love it! Also, called Kenra and they said the clear styling paste is gluten-free. I use on wet hair, blow dry, then style w/ small amt. No need for hair spray. Hair has definition, volume and shine not to mention still touchable! -
Hi, Just a thought since I'm still new to this myself and not a lot of experience eating out @ restaurants that don't offer gluten-free menus but do you have time to call a head and speak to the manager about what you need? Maybe this would at least make you more comfortable in front of your collegues. I know its just hard enough for me to do this in...

ARCHIVED More Confusion And Frustration
cupid replied to jeannine's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Hi, My biopsy came back negative and your right if they don't get an infected section then its inconclusive. If celiac runs in your family you may want to get the DQ2 & DQ8 DNA testing to see if you carry the gene. I get my DNA results tomorrow and probably sad to say but really hope its positive so I can finally have some answers. Started gluten... -

Agree you should not have to wait for medical care. My first gasto ordered upper GI and it took a month to get results which indicated celiac. They scheduled the biopsy but had to wait two months for appt and then another six wks for results. I called my favorite hospital out of the four in my city for a referral to another gastro. Notified my insurance...

Hi, Glad to see your restaurant review. Will be going to visit my sister in Vail in June and flying into Denver so plan to try one of your recommendations. I find eating out very challenging. Do you know of any gluten-free restaurants in Vail or how I should research this before my trip? Thanks for the info
