ARCHIVED Pizza Crust
moving on replied to debbie-doodles's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
It is very easy to take a recipe and measure out the dry ingredients, all except yeast and sugar. Place it in a labled zip lock bag and store it in the freezer, refrigerator or even on the shelf depending on the ingredients. I usually measure 3 batches of a recipe - one to mix and 2 to store. This way a weekend meal becomes a quick weeknight meal. Gluten... -
Sheely, I used a bread machine for many years before going gluten free. I now use a kitchen aid to mix my bread and don't see the need for a bread machine. gluten-free bread ismuch easier to make than a dough that needs kneading. With practice, you will soon make much better bread than you will find in most places. Play around with different flours and...

ARCHIVED I Feel Horrible After Eating Gf Bread
moving on replied to steve-o's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Steve, do the mixes all have fava bean or garfava bean flour? I experience very similar symptoms from fava bean flours but am able to tolerate other bean flours. -
ARCHIVED Toaster Envelopes
moving on replied to jenvan's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
jenvan, the site is www.kingarthurflour.com. Once upon a time I used most of their flours for my bread. They had an offer of several items with free shipping and the bags were one of the items offered. That was several months ago. You will also find pans for most baking needs there, but they are expensive. -

I use them for traveling. I keep them with my travel supplies and have also placed a couple in the glove box in the car. They were ordered from King Arthur when they had a free shipping sale. We usually stay in a motel that offers continental breakfast. I carry English muffins, bread or corn bread tops (baked in hamburger pan). Any of these can be... -
ARCHIVED Pizza Crust
moving on replied to debbie-doodles's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
Yes, I do make my own crust and love it. Here is the link https://www.celiac.com/st_prod.html?p_prodi...-43105623264.9b It can be found on the home page here. I use the armaranth flour and are very happy with it. It is the closest to the real thing I have found. -
ARCHIVED Tinkyada
moving on replied to Wandering Hermit's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
We have enjoyed the spagetthi, the lasagna noodles and the grand shells. I am awaiting an order of shells today as I didn't find them when we were last in Whole Foods. I am planning to cook the entire box, stuff them and freeze them. I used to buy stuffed shells and they were so convenient to have in the freezer. I simply bake them and use a jar of Classico... -

ARCHIVED Pizza Crust
moving on replied to debbie-doodles's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
I really like Karen Robertson's recipe that is linked on the home page here. Scroll down to Karen Robertson's cooking class and click on it. You will find a recipe that is good for pizza and foccocia. We now use the recipe for both and my dh who is not gluten-free enjoys it as well. I blind bake the pizza crusts and keep them in the freezer. I also make... -
ARCHIVED Desperate! Need Answer Fast.....
moving on replied to Canadian Karen's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Karen, I sure hope you are able to get to the bottom of this. These attacks have to be scary. I did get the information from Delph and I believe I added verified by phone 1/10/95. You might want to call them ask about the product you have today and post an update. It sounds as if you do not have a very sympathetic doctor. I've changed doctors for just... -
I believe it is a southern thing. My husband heavily salts everything before tasting. I lightly salt when cooking and seldom add additional salt at the table. The civil war continues in our household.

Has anyone had any experience traveling with Grand Circle tours? We have looked at several but wonder if I could eat safely on a tour. If most meals are ordered, then it seems it would be possible to maintain gluten-free. I know a meal in a home might present a problem but that could be missed. Please share your experiences if you have done any planned...

ARCHIVED Desperate! Need Answer Fast.....
moving on replied to Canadian Karen's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Karen, this is the only one listed and it is gluten-free. I know it isn't what you want. Wish I could be of more help. Looked on the website (Orajel) and couldn't find anything there. Orajel Mouth Sore Medicine(Del Pharmaceuticals)(800-952-5080)(vp=1/10/05) gluten-free -
Julie, I buy mine in the commisary but I would think Publix, Kroger or Harry's would have it. Look in the section with rice or Cajan foods. I now use it to coat fish and it might also work on the salmon patties. I prefer the crispy Southern style when I am able to find it. It is very finely ground so it makes a nice coating. If I use my sorghum blend...

I'm also craving some fried okra. I've never used flour in my fried okra. I dip it in egg & milk mixture and then in white cornmeal. You could also dip it in buttermilk first. I will probably also use one of Zatarain's coating the next time I make it. I now crumble a slice or two of gluten free bread and mix it in with celery, onion, parsley, eggs...

ARCHIVED Lemon Angel Food Cake Recipe
moving on replied to msserena's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
I am not familiar with Swan potato starch flour and gluten-free resources are limited. I have potato starch and potato flour and there is a real difference. The flour seems a bit heavy for angel food. Could potato starch be used in place? I do know that you can make sponge cake using potato starch. I like angel food cake for fresh strawberries and would... -
ARCHIVED Gluten Free Graham Crackers And Donuts
moving on replied to mamaw's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
Mamaw, I've not tried donuts but have made graham crackers from Carol Fenster's book. I've tried many flours and flour blends and find the sorghum blend comes closest to the real thing. I was tired of watching the grandkids eat s'mores and wanted to join in the fun. These were also good as a snack with peanut butter. They kept for 3 or 4 weeks, beyond... -
ARCHIVED Egg Beaters Or Liquid Egg Products
moving on posted a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Can anyone tell me if Egg Beaters or any liquid egg products are gluten free? Would it be better to order an omelet made with Egg Beaters rather than a restaurant egg product? -
I have a 12 oz box of pure Montina baking supplement, not the baking mix which contains a mixture of rice flour, tapioca flour and Montina. The Montina rep said to mix it 1/12 with other flours and check the website. The website calls for this as the only flour in the bread recipe. I would like to try it in a bread recipe and hamburger bun recipe but I...

What recipe did you use? Did you use the Montina by itself or mixed with other flours? I would think using it alone would be very expensive.

ARCHIVED Help For A Newbie To All This Finding Gf Foods.
moving on replied to Gojo's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
mom of 5 celiac. Where in Atlanta is the health food store? I am 2 hours below Atlanta but so far am limited to the few items I can find in my local Kroger. They did get some pizza crust for me - I found them as they were being stocked today. No Rolls or buns, donuts, etc. It might be worth going out of my way occasionally. -
ARCHIVED Tone Soap
moving on replied to moving on's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I've been itching and cannot find another reason unless it is the soap. Since I cannot get a diagnosis (gluten free for 2 years), I might need to continue to use the soap until I can get to a dermatologist for a biopsy. Saw a doctor yesterday and he felt certain it is celiac but not worth going back to the wheat for testing. I am thankful for Atkins diet... -
Does anyone know if Tone soap is gluten free?

Will gliadin test be positive if you have followed a gluten-free diet? Is there any need for further test if your test is negative?
