I love to learn new things all the time. I'm interested in acting, writing, directing, and am involved in various aspects of performing arts at all times.
Photography is a passion I share with my husband. We also enjoy riding motorcycles and traveling. We are world missionaries with hopes of being able to help people in many countries around the world in the next few years. We were in Rwanda last summer and he'll be in Australia this fall. I've worked in Mexico also. Our missionary passions include bringing fresh water sources, sanitation facilities, and hygiene education to communities in need.
I believe in reaching out to those in need both in your own neighborhood and around the world.
I am a mother of 3 wonderful daughters, a grandmother of one beautiful granddaughter (due Aug. 3, 2009) and the wife of a very special man.

1. I don't apologize anymore when I take my own food into a restaurant. However, the only reason my husband and I eat at restaurants that don't offer a safe, gluten free option on the menu is because someone invited us to join them. If it's up to us, we eat at the few places I know I won't get sick after enjoying a meal. I do get some hassle in my family though...
2. My upper lip used to smell like fresh baked bread. Also, my sweat was rancid. I could have showered 2 or 3 times a day and not gotten rid of the odor. I think my head and neck were the worst places for the smell. It wasn't in my armpits. One of my children remarked that when I hugged her goodnight, my hair smelled bad.
3. I found these pills at a Jimbo's and took them when I thought I'd had accidental exposures while working in a bakery (just drinking from my coffee cup made me feel ill). While I didn't seem to have a lot of symptoms while taking the pills (up to 4 a day), my gut felt tight and I was once again extremely constipated. I lost my usual flat stomach and looked...
4. Happy birthday and may God bless you today!

5. I am SO glad you looked at the site. Blessings!
6. I met the VP of sales at my friends' house last night. She noticed that I brought my own brownie for dessert and asked me what made it 'special' and my husband said, "She makes them with rice flour instead of wheat." That started a conversation about gluten-free and her company. She has a line of foods for disaster preparedness that is gluten-free!!!! www...
7. I had Kix last week for the first time since figuring out I'm a celiac last summer. I was so happy. Now Trix? I'm giddy.
8. If they're making meatloaf and wearing the same gloves to process meat after that (slice, arrange, package) they're possibly contaminating all of the meat in their butcher shop. Wash your steaks before cooking them? Just a suggestion. Might you also be allergic to meat? I'm allergic to beef (which I didn't know until recently). It gives me a terrible stomach...
9. I LOVE Chex!!!! My husband and I were in the middle of the middle of nowhere and we went to the cereal aisle and there were the Rice Chex (which I was hoping to have on our camping trip) and next to them were the new Gluten Free Corn Chex and Gluten Free Honey Nut Corn Chex. I was so happy, like a teenager in love. I wanted to skip. I'm allergic to corn...
10. Thank you all so much for your advice / experience stories. I told my husband about putting foil on the grill for me when he cooks. I had suggested that before but he said it was not necessary. Maybe he'll believe you ladies! Someday I'll have my own toaster, cooking spoons, etc. When we build our house, I'm going to insist on certain things and one will...
11. My husband has been very supportive but still has some issues believing I've been glutened at times. He thinks heat kills it. He has no scientific evidence, just his belief. He sees me ill after a BBQ but refuses to think the garlic bread we've put on the grill for YEARS could possibly leave a residue behind that would effect me. So I am miserable for up...
12. Oh yes - Hubby was eating a donut once and I dove in and kissed him on the lips. He tried to avoid me because he knew he was eating the forbidden food but I was persistent and in a flash I got glutened. Kissed hubby's friend on the lips and didn't realize his beer lips would be a problem until a few minutes later when the rumbling gut started. I thought...
13. I had eating disorders for a few years in my teens / early 20's. I relapsed for a while in my late 20's. I can see where celiac disease may have had something to do with my binge / purge habit. I've been free and clear of an ED for close to 20 years. Now with adding celiac disease to my list of issues, a lot of people probably think I'm anorexic again...
14. Bea, do you know about BBQ grills getting hot enough to kill gluten? My brain says no. My husband and I have cooked bread on all of our grills and now that I'm not eating gluten, he insists the grill gets hot enough to kill gluten. The problem is, the last two times he's grilled for me I've gotten terrible bloating, pain, and gas like I haven't had in months...
15. My blood test showed a genetic marker for Celiac but the other parts of it were negative. Three doctors refused to consider me a celiac after that. Rather than try to get a doctor to order the small intestine biopsies, I chose to go gluten free without a diagnosis. I was also tested for food allergies. Of the 6 tests done (egg, corn, wheat, milk, soy, peanut...
