  1. I feel you. I used to always have night sweats, morning sweats, afternoon sweats, and everything in between sweats. Now I am cold all of the time. Everyone I know has made commentts about it, but i chalked it up to getting older. (hormones) I am in Flroida right now and it must be 80 degrees or so. I turned off the air and opened 1 door, and I am freezing...
  2. My sister in law works at a dental office. ( I called her when I found out I had celiac disease, and she had no idea what it was My teeth have always been taken care of (brush twice-three times a day). My enamel is almost gone, and I have had numerous fillings and root canals. The other day I was outside and a friend of mine said to me that she could "see...

  5. I have had RLS all of my life (as far as I can remember) I had it pretty bad. I had no idea that celiac disease caused it until today. I have been gluten-free for 6 days ( a few mishaps unknowingly) Loking back on the past few days my RLS has been nonexistant. I am self dx, and I haven't been eating much at all, so I don't know if i am anemiac or not. gluten...
  6. I agree. I think it is no longer an issue with where your family is from. The fact of the matter is that our food suppliers are poisioning us! Too many hormones, too many fillers, too many additives etc... Our Government is allowing this to happen. (We should start a new post.) Let me ask everyone here a question (30 and older) When you were growing up did...

  9. Hi there. I am new to this too. (6 days) I used to travel to Baker county often. (glen st. mary / macclenny/sanderson) Are you near 125?I live near Orlando, but I plan on making a trip up that way soon, so hopefully you/we can find a few people to form a support group. I know it is very small town there, but I am sure that there are others in that area that...
  10. are you diabetic?
  11. Well I would be working at a doctors office (medical assistant) Which type of practice is yet to be determined by my interview outcomes. It helps some to know that there would be a doctor around, but there are several issues with that. #1 some doctors have no idea what celiac disease is. #2 I could look like I am trying to use my position there to get free...
  12. oh, I left out my main concern. I'm am also scared through my trial and error diet that I will eat something that I have an adverse affect to, and not be able to sleep all night. I won't be able to get up in the morning. Also, what do I do if I get sick at work? (I get severe ab. pains) I can't start a job with "problems." It won't last long.
  13. I do not work, but I just finished my degree with the hopes of having a new career. I have had a few calls about my resume the last few days. Im self dx 05/15/08, and I am so drained and sore. The economy is pretty bad, and I need money, but I don't know if I can do it right now. How do you all work with this? I can't have caffeine or anything like that,...
  14. Celiac causes RLS? Really? I have had it my whole life, and it has gotten worse. wow. I had no idea.
  15. I have SEVERE pain, but I do have 2 things that help. #1 peppermint tea relieves it a lot and #2 I lay on my stomach. It tends to hurt worse for a minute or so, but then it begins to become bearable. It takes me 4-8 hours to get through it. I won't eat after 5pm in case I have an adverse reaction. I hate having that pain and being up all night. If the pain...
  16. I am in the same boat. I am 30 (31 on 5/28). i never knew I had a problem until I began to get horrible stomach pains. I had a clear day yesterday, and I couldn't believe the difference. Today wasn't such a great day, but tomorrow will be better. I have researched until my head feels like it's going to explode. My family doesn't understand, and I am afraid...
  17. Last night I had gluten-free penne with classico sauce, meatballs cooked in olive oil and made with egg(no problems with egg) and soy flour. (oh, and i had some canned greens beans) I was so sick afterwards. I couldn't figure out why. Maybe it was the acid in the sauce? Thanks! I was upset not knowing what it could've been. Shouldn't tomatoes bother me then...
  18. I tried the wine route when I had to give up the beer. I was soo sick all day and night. It was terrible.
  19. I was one heck of a beer lover. (bud) After starting my gluten-free diet I really missed my beer. I called around and found a place that sold redbridge. Halfway through my first one I already felt the alcohol hit me. I drank quite a few, and I had no problems at all with it. Have you looked into making your own gluten-free beer?
  20. Pepto didn't work for me. I heard that Maloxx works, but I haven't tried it. I use peppermint tea, and it helps out a lot. Good luck.
  21. Hi Anna. I too just started out. 05/15/08. I am actually self dx. I felt hopeful when I realized how much support there was, and I was glad to see that I wasn't the only one. ( I started to think I was crazy and dying) I am feeling very defeated right now because I am conditioned to be afraid to eat due to the pain. I have tried to branch out the last 2 days...
  22. I just started a gluten-free diet on wednesday, and I have the same problem. I was craving snickers bars and peanut butter something terrible. I spoke to the doctor I work for about it, and in his opinion he thinks that since my body wasn't absorbing nutrients for so long that it craving what I was missing. I haven't gotten a whole lot of protein, so my body...
