  1. Hello and welcome! my little guy is 2 and is only 22#. I think he weighed the same as your dd at 22 mos. He was a 33 wk preemie (4 lbs)(probably due to my gluten intolerance...) he was in the 4-10 percentile until his wheat/eggs/nuts/shellfish allergy diagnosis. We tried the wheat/allergen free diet (allowing rye etc.) He made some gains on the charts...
  2. I drink peppermint tea or traditional medicinals eater's digest. It has peppermint and other hebs that are calming. WhimisKay: Please read the labels on Yogi tea. I was debating whether to buy Yogi tea or Traditional Medicinals. I was looking at the ones for liver detox...and one of theirs had wheat in it! Since my stomach was already gurgling I went...
  3. I asked the Kroger pharmacist about some Gluten-free vitamins for my ds. He laughed, yes laughed and shrugged saying there was another lady wanting to know if her prescription medication was Gluten-free. I don't like to go there when he is working to say the least@!!!!
  4. Thanks! I will try the food diary.
  5. Hello! First off, I would like to say that you all are wonderful. I wish I had come here when my baby was diagnosed with his wheat allergy. Now I am convinced gluten is causing slight ADHD problems and neurological ones in my older son. I doubt if any doctor here will ever listen to me. But... he has a checkup scheduled for next week. I was wondering how...
  6. The gluten could affect her growth long term, motor skills, and behavior. Is it worth the risk?
  7. I was curious as to how to say gluten free or celiac after I read your post. I lived in France pre-gluten awareness. I went to Voila.fr to do some searching. It was interesting. Celiac is called maladie celiac. Can you imagine explaining to the waiter:"J'ai maladie celiac." Do you speak fluent French? That will help considerably. I was scared going...
  8. Where can you buy Glutenease?
  9. How do you get the cakes to stay together? It it the eggs? Mine are always crumbly for some reason. I have tried vinegar/oil/baking powder for eggs, yeast + water, and fruit pectin. I hope he outgrows the egg allergy at some point. It will make baking more fun!
  10. Thanks everyone. He loved the tea and is eating some Gluten-free soy yogurt. I had to give him benadryl also because their dog is an indoor dog. It was so bad his eye was swollen.
  11. My kids went with dh to visit some friends that live on the lake. She served my family lunch. Pork chops were marinated in olive oil and soy sauce. DH didn't ask to read the label on the soy sauce and... well.... he had to leave early because normally our calm 2 yr old began to rip through their ($$$) house destroying things like the tasmanian devil! ...
  12. I work full time also and it is hard especially in the beginning. But... it does get easier as everyone said. Think of cooking dishes that can be eaten more than once during the week. Beans and rice (affordable and tasty). I use Gluten-free mac n cheese in the box to make my own "tuna helper" I add tuna and broccoli. Even my hubby like it. I also make...
  13. I got a copy of a ingredients that list wheat/gluten from the allergist. I think it came from the Food and Allergy Network. It's very handy and fits in my purse. (I also have to check for shellfish, milk, and eggs...)
  14. Another laundry detergent to consider is Biokleen. It's plant based (vs Gain and others which are petroleum based). It is gluten free has soda ash, and other plant based items. It is ok to use unless you have citrus sensitivity. I love Kiss My Face. It's the only lotion that doesn't make me itch. I use the olive oil and aloe. As for shampoo/conditioner...
  15. Or the loss of a week! It takes me a while to recover!
  16. I don't cheat (on purpose) and never will. It was hard at first, because I didn't know which foods tasted well. After my ER visit- it will never be worth it.
  17. My DS does have a wheat allergy. He had the eczema all over his body. The longer he ate wheat the worse the symptoms got. It started with the rash then went to runny stools, wheezing, colic, crankiness, slow weigh gain. He was tested at 8 mos old for a wheat allergy. The allergist said that meant I had to avoid all of these foods (wheat, eggs, nuts....
  18. Well, I just threw out the Nexium. Too many bad side effects. I will just be more vigilant on labels. Thanks for the link Shay!
  19. Utz potato chips are labeled gluten free. I love them! No worries.
  20. Two days before my vacation I went shopping for the necessary items for myself and my 2 yo son. I bought some mixed nuts (store brand) and planters, fruit, rice chex, Gluten-free pasta, and mac n cheese in the box. I ate some of the store brand nuts with my husband when we got home. My stomach felt *funny*. It was most like a dull ache. At 6:30 later that...

    ARCHIVED Medical Records

In VA you have to fill out a form (mail/in person). I am going to fill it out in person and will request to pick it up in person- and make copies like you! They will see him for a sick visit but not a well visit. I don't understand!!! Tomorrow morning I will be a woman on a mission.

    ARCHIVED Medical Records

I was trying to get my 9 yr old a new doc. The NP at our Ds2 is great. Does a great job with all of our allergies etc. Ds1 needs a new doc. He probably has a wheat allergy. He's 4ft9 and weight 68 -70 lbs. He also has low muscle tone (i.e. getting occupational therapy). I wanted to get a well visit with the NP but can't because the records (which I have...
  23. Have you had him tested for food allergies? My ds had daily diaper blowouts and "yeast" rashes in the diaper area and elsewhere they looked like ringworm. The rashes cleared up about a month after the wheat allergy diagnosis (and a strict diet!). They really cleared up when we went to cloth diapers. HTH ps. he is allergic to wheat, eggs, and nuts. He...
  24. I have had undiagnosed (instant results on a Gluten-free diet) celiac for years. I am also a teacher. I have had everything thanks to 7 years teaching. I have NOT had chicken pox (nor the vaccine) and have had numerous exposures through school, my own dear children, and my college roommate! While undiagnosed though, I would pick up every cold which...
  25. Don't worry! I had a healthy baby undiagnosed- my 2nd was a little early (33 wks) due to undetected wheat allergy. I have Kroger brand vitamins and they clearly label allergens. This one has soy. Good luck!
