  1. Oh please....say it ain't so! LOL You took away my bread, my beer, my pasta, my pizza....NOT MY COFFEE!!!! I sure hope I don't get more sensitive to caffeine, I love my coffee, though I have to admit to cutting way back to 1-2 cups a day from my former 5!
  2. I can certain ly understand how you must feel. However as a relatively newly diagnosed celiac (1 1/2 months gluten free) I feel SO much better now then I a few months ago at this point I can't imagine cheating but the feeling is still there. Just today I walked by my former chicken wing/beer restaurant and told my 14 yr old son we should go there for supper...
  3. O neg here......as are both mykids, though one has allergies he seems ok on gluten so far.
  4. Thanks for the gluten free one bowl cake. I made it this afternoon and my non-celiac kids declared it a hit. Said if they didn't know, there is no way they could tell. They called it a 'brownie' cake, cause the dense texture of it reminded them of brownies. I used the Bob's red mill all purpose flour.
  5. I have uterine fibroids. There are days when I feel exactly like you. I'd definitely go to a gynecologist and see about having a pelvic ultrasound done. And yes, sometimes the pain is worse after a BM, I'm not sure why though. Good luck figuring it out.
  6. I had a sensitivity to artificial sweeteners even before going gluten-free so I've been off those for a while. For my yogurt, I take a plain organic yogurt and just blend in my fruits with one of those hand mixers. Works great and most fruits are sweet enough that I don't need any added sweeteners.
  7. I have the Bob's Red mill all purpose gluten-free flour. I've just not used it yet. Wasn't sure if I could substitute it straight like that. Thank you, I'll be giving the usual recipe a try and see if my family can tell the difference.
  8. A family favourite here is salmon patties. Of course all my recipes call for either bread crumbs, flour or crushed Saltines. Being new to this, I'm not sure if I can substitute gluten-free crackers or flour .... anyone have a tried and true recipe?
  9. I just had this.....I figured I had to try it at least one time and hopefully will have no reactions. The girl on the phone was very reassuring about cross-contamination however I have no idea how it would be handled at each location. They told me it is now standard at ALL Ontario locations, so you might want to try again if your local delivery location...
  10. I tend to get the reverse....diarrhea...bleah, so I load up on Imodium (never leave home without it) and then just try and eat as simply as I can til it passes. In my case I do a lot of rice as I want to 'bulk up' again. but I doubt that would help with constipation. It is gentle on my tummy pains though.
  11. just my two cents worth. I'm a single parent and not in a relationship right now so dating will be bound to come up soon. I'm just freshly diagnosed 3 weeks ago, but I'm thinking that anyone who doesn't understand and make an effort to find a place where I can eat safely is NOT worth dating.
  12. Thanks for those links Peter. I went to Whole Foods Market today and stocked up on a few things....the most important being their gluten-free Pizza crust that became a lunch from the Gods today! LOL....man was I missing pizza. I also got a menu from Magic Oven, but didnt eat there ... I'm sure I'll give it a try soon. Anyway, you're work isn't that...
  13. Hi all, Newly joined and newly diagnosed (3 weeks ago). I live smack dab in the middle of Toronto. I'm sure there must be all sorts of places I can find stuff here in the city, but ugh, I'm so overwhelmed right now!
  14. Hi all, It's my first post here, very happy to have found this place as I am somewhat overwhelmed right now. I'm newly diagnosed (about 3 weeks ago) and feeling much better with the gluten-free diet. I'm not new to allergies however, also being allergic to grapes and strawberries and having a 14 year old son who was diagnosed with peanut/tree nut allergies...
