ARCHIVED Diagnosed With Gluten Intolerance (Non-Celiac)
cassP replied to krishna's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
so what was your "elevated Iga" ?? was that your Anti-gliadin??? i definitely believe that you can be gluten sensitive or gluten intolerant... but your DQ2 + your symptoms just makes me too suspicious. Regardless of whatever i think- you feel better gluten free- and if you're not like me in feeling like you need a diagnosis to get motivated- then that... -
ARCHIVED Antibody Testing Vs Gene Testing
cassP replied to bincongo's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
the genetic test can be extremely fascinating but it doesnt determine 100% if you will have the disease... i would think your daughter should do blood & maybe biopsy testing... and unless your grandchild has any symptoms as a baby or toddler- i would then think that genetic testing would be good for him/her.. i think thats what they do in italy- and... -
ARCHIVED Sometimes, I Really, Really Wonder.
cassP replied to T.H.'s topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
this is all so interesting.. this crop rotation! i wonder if this contributes to corn & soy being issues for so many of us... i also suspect the Genetic Modification messes with our bodies -

ps Burdee- thanks for explaining the hashimotos antibodies.. i was wondering exactly how people know if they've got a sluggish thyroid or specifically Hashimotos.. im going to ask for that test. ive been "wheat light" for over a decade but only 100% Gluten Free since July 1, 2010.. hope it will be an accurate test... tho im sure i already know what the results... -

getting our docs to do the tests we want here in the US can be quite a struggle... and believe me- there are many on here with B12 levels as low as yours and had american docs tell them they were fine too. but u could still supplement without them, right?? i think sublinguals are better than pills. i hope u feel better soon -
ARCHIVED I'm So Frustrated!
cassP replied to glutenfreemamax2's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
so you went gluten free 10/1 ?? and then had blood test 10/16 ?? im not sure if 2 weeks is enough to clear out enough antibodies to give a false negative... but you never know... i think the statistic for false negatives among celiacs is 20% !!!!!! i had 2 Celiac panels done in 2008.. and at first glance (which apparently is all the attention my GP &... -
ARCHIVED Antibody Testing Vs Gene Testing
cassP replied to bincongo's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
she's already 8 months pregnant???? so thats good then- we dont really have to worry about her pregnancy now, right- she's almost done... i think she should get antibody tests now- should only be 1 or 2 vials.... a complete panel- since she's still eating gluten, and you've tried for so long to get her to do it- try to get them all: TTG Iga & Igg,... -
ARCHIVED Diagnosed With Gluten Intolerance (Non-Celiac)
cassP replied to krishna's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Krishna- you COULD have Celiac. your Rheumatologist may not feel he can diagnose you without the Small Intestine Biopsies- but that doesnt mean that you do not have Celiac. your DQ2 is a Celiac specific gene which means its certainly possible that u may be positive for the disease as well. im confused that he would specifically label u NONCeliac Gluten Intolerant... -

where do u live? r u in the States? or overseas??? im just confused- by your cholesterol numbers- i dont understand the numbers.. for example ive only seen HDL as aiming for over 50 or 60... ive never seen it as a 1.0 ??? i was confused with all your cholesterol numbers? BUT- your B 12 numbers and ranges look like what im familiar with... and i do NOT... -
do your parents or siblings have Celiac or any other Autoimmune Diseases???? to give us an idea? i, personally, think that if u suspect u have issues with gluten- i would NOT eat ANY gluten for the rest of your pregnancy- and maybe even abstain while nursing. but make sure you eat really healthy NATURALLY gluten free foods, fresh fruits & veggies,...

ARCHIVED Need Help Re: Blood Work Results
cassP replied to Momma Ta's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
first off- your Iga of 51?, then again at 64.. Im assuming thats your Total Iga Serum... Mine was 60 on both my tests... Its not Deficient enough to be "sickly" but its below range and means that your TTG numbers could be a false low and make your tests inconclusive... I too had very low ttg numbers.. A 6, then a 7... But my EMA was positive/present.. And... -
ARCHIVED Celiacs And Mental Instability
cassP replied to Hamster101's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
i was anorexic for a short while.. I dont think there's a specific link. However- if it causes &/or aggravates depression and anxiety in many of us- then it could contribute to making us more prone to extreme behavioral conditions. Also, i think that a phase of anorexia could definitely be a trigger to turn the celiac "on" -
ARCHIVED Blood Positive, Biopsy Negative-Now What
cassP replied to rose-thorn98's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
dont be discouraged- so many of us did not have a clear and obvious test result.. A lot of celiacs and people with gluten intolerance get neuropathy.. And i THINK its a side effect from a B12 deficiency which many gluten intolerants suffer from. You should get your B12 levels checked and ask for your results.. My sis in law was within range but ONLY by a... -
AMEN exactly my thoughts!!! Dont even get me started. Im not even sure how it makes any sense for them to create a vaccine to help the body NOT react in its natural supremely intelligent manner... But believe u me, they WILL make one- there is just way too much money to be made on this!!! And thats what our medical system is all about- money... And then after...

does she have a kitchenette? in her room or dorm ? there is a brand called Tinkyada- in Publix, Whole Foods, Amazon- their brown rice pasta is KILLER- i love it now way more than regular pasta!! and for easy nights- i have a rice mac& cheese box (forget the brand- maybe Amy's?) - anxiety is normal- gluten gave me HORRIBLE anxiety... im still having... -
ARCHIVED Celiacs And Mental Instability
cassP replied to Hamster101's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
studies show that cognitive therapy can be just as effective as antidepressants or more.... i will say that when i took Paxil 12 years ago- it was exactly what i needed at that time in my life- it was a temporary crutch i used for a year that i am glad i took. about 5 years ago i went on Paxil again- but this time it just turned me into a zombie. the bottom... -
kevin- i just read that it can be excito-toxic (sp?) on the brain just like wheat/gluten & glutamic acid & Msg... it does not screw me up like gluten does.... but i do still have brain fog even after going gluten free... i dont know if its the dairy, or my sluggish thyroid, or just mental crap???
-
im so sorry you're having to deal with all this ... I hope that being gluten free and killing your parasite will get u normal soon!! I would suggest u dont do ANY dairy or coffee till you're done with the D.. ALSO i think you should definately get in with an osteopath even if 1st apt in december.. I accidentally got an osteopath when i crawled into a walk...
-
you might also wanna see your doc for a checkup- many of us had to correct b12 or D deficiencies, or thyroid problems.. and as above poster said- there may be additional intolerances like soy dairy and corn
