  1. i like Psyllium.. i like Ghee (about 1 tbs a day), and L-Glutamine (1 heaping tbs with 8oz water... they both help your small intestine work and they "smooth" out things if u know what i mean can u handle fruit right now??? pears KILL me- but they really help with going to the bathroom! or a nice big mango late in the afternoon helps with the next...
  2. AAHH ok, i got ya... ya i understand... i only did a 2 week wheat challenge for my test, and i was DONE.. couldnt take the anxiety anymore hope other members give advice here to you- cause you may not have to eat a ton of gluten if you're getting an endoscopy SOON... but i dont know for sure. sorry you're feeling crappy
  3. from what i read on here- there could be CC with the baking soda or the Chex. i avoid Chex anyways- isnt it corn?? i try to eat Grain/Carb lite- and i really try to avoid corn- UNLESS i MUST have these yummy gluten-free oreos, or rice/bean/corn chips with my guac. some people have gluten like reactions to corn... dont know if its an additional intolerance...
  4. maybe you could compromise... like eat mainly grain free... and then save grains for special occasions or once a week.. ??? also- did u see this thread today:
  5. this is a fascinating and mysterious topic. there are some websites that claim that not enough research was done with corn gluten- i also found online (after i had an EXTREME reaction to High Maltose Corn Syrup)- that Celiacs should not be touching the stuff. ?? as a layperson, i presume that technically- corn gluten is not the same as the gluten we...
  6. your neice didnt get it from you- but she recieved genes from your sister.. and possibly her father too. the genes are obviously in your family- and your sister is either a celiac too- or just carrying one or more genes. i have celiac, i got 2 DQ8s- one from BOTH my mom & dad. im trying to get them tested. MY AUNT on my mom's side was just diagnosed...
  7. dixiebell- ARE YOU SERIOUS??? now i gotta worry about the turkey??? OY to original poster: since i am celiac, my sis is gluten free, and my mom & dad SHOULD be getting tested but havent-> my plan of action is for me & my sis to help my mom cook right. i got Pamela's cornbread mix... i'll buy some additional gluten-free bread- & my sis...
  8. a free screening???? that's cool! idk... try to relax... eat fairly healthy.. maybe plan a last gluten meal or two before you get your results (as long as it's not sickening u too much)... enjoy a last pizza or something- because if you get a definitive positive- you'll want to be prepared to jump on board and not feel like you didnt have one last cheat
  9. bambi- it can take some time to get back to normal- and while you were eating gluten AND in this very beginning phase of going gluten free (about the first month)- you really cannot trust the reactions to every food item. years ago when i was still eating gluten (tho, not a lot)-> randomnly almost anything bloated me. i remember being at work one day-...
  10. some of us feel remarkably better within a few weeks... while others can take months.. even tho i felt 90% better stomach wise, ive had a few hiccups along the way like finding additional food intolerances, or needing to abstain from dairy, and testing for hypothyroid (which can cause your hair to fall out).. you should be feeling better soon i would think...
  11. 1st off- there was an article out of columbia university months ago suggesting that as little as 1 in 6 Celiacs actually have gut symptoms, whereas the others dont have any, but may have other issues as you know from this forum i assume- people have experienced neuropathy & neurological issues as well as anemia & vitamin deficiencies. and you...
  12. maybe better for u to see what this specialist thinks, and what other members advise... i hate having to tell someone to get back on gluten. basically- for about 7 or 8 years prior to my 1st celiac test- i was mostly LOW or NO carbs... mostly gluten lite with binges & "cheats".. my antigliadins were negative & my ttgs were "weak positive" then...
  13. omg- thankyou so much for the tip! i had no idea of this restaurant- and there's one close to me ps- WOW... on their website- every individual location has a Gluten free menu to download!!! this is great!

  16. the problem is that those proton pump inhibitors tell the stomach to stop making acid. Reflux is because that sphincter between the esophagus and the stomach is not staying clamped down. and when we shut off the stomach mechanisms- then it just wrecks our digestion... im sorry your reflux isnt better yet... unfortunately going gluten free may not be enough...
  17. there's gluten intolerants & celiacs on here with DQ6 and DQ9, etc, etc, there is still so much for the medical community to learn about all of this
  18. Jason- with her thinning hair, trouble losing weight, & gluten intolerance- has she had her thyroid checked?
  19. no reason for her to feel guilty... its just genetics- i dont think MY parents should feel guilty.. the pneumonia vacc- now that's a first.. i have not heard of docs suggesting this right after a celiac dx. hhhmmmmm???? idk
  20. ooohhh- i dont know about the whisky... but the soy sauce is easy- Open Original Shared Link **MAKE SURE you get this GLUTEN FREE with the Gold Label.. BECAUSE they also make a regular soy sauce with gluten
  21. nonceliac gluten intolerance can be just as serious!!!! sometimes more... just depends on everyone's individual makeup... and genetics.. gluten has been linked to Crohns.. antigliadin antibodies has been linked to heart disease.. wheat germ agglutin has been linked to esophageal and prostate cancer.. goes on and on and on.. PLUS- you said your genetic...
  22. what was your TSH?? and why are these doctors being so difficult??? i hope u find a good doctor in cinncinatti another thing to consider- you (in addition to testing for celiac & hypo)- get a test for Hashimoto's antibodies AND- suggest your mom & sis test or look into gluten intolerance- it's all so related
  23. ya, as far as Celiac & Gluten Intolerance- you're fine- its usually from corn but as far as health- we are being fed a crapload of crap i had a SEVERE reaction to High Maltose Corn Syrup that i wouldnt wish on most people... i was researching it, and basically they said that it's "relatively new to human consumption" so that "they" really dont know...
  24. what raised Iga?? is it your Total Iga Serum??? or is it Tissue Transglutamase Iga? or Antigliadin Iga?? we could probably explain more to you- the doctors seem to only give us a millisecond of their time... and you're a size 8??? but only @ 95lbs????? im worried about you- 95 is too thin.. i hope you can heal soon and get to a weight that is healthy...
  25. it's refreshing when you talk to someone from europe- my 2nd cousin is british, and my coworker is irish- and before i could even finish the sentence saying i cant eat wheat or gluten.. they were like- "Oh Cassie- do you think you might have Celiac??"... its a shock to hear people so knowledgeable
