  1. Hey Everyone, so I had the procedure yesterday. They ended up doing a Colonoscopy instead of a Sigmoidoscopy, and they took biopsies of 3 areas. The doc said that everything appeared normal' but they wanted to do the biopsies to be sure. I feel pretty cruddy today now that the med cocktail they gave me, has worn off They said they results should be back...
  2. I have the major itchies I have never had acne, and have always had good skin, but over the last year and a half or so, my skin has become a canvas of itchy, rash, small red pin size dots, or clear looking splotches that kind of look like dried glue in "dot" formation (haha if that makes any sense whatsoever!) Sometimes I itch so bad my skin peels...
  3. Wow, very cool ! Thanks
  4. Hi There! I am not yet diagnosed Celiac, but I can say for a fact that I have experienced severe nausea, and have also thrown up several times after eating foods high in gluten. I have also dealt with the diarrhea and constipation that fluctuates in severity. I do not know all that much yet about Gluten Intolerance/Sensitivity/Celiac, but from what I have...
  5. I definitely relate! I am not yet diagnosed, but am fairly certain I have sensitivity to Gluten (I do struggle with B)autoimmune disorders); Although I am not diagnosed gluten sensitive/celiac, nor have I ceased eating gluten, I can say that I have adapted the "well lets wait and see if I really NEED to stop eating Gluten" ~ and I find myself eating it ...
  6. Does anyone have any info on Gluten Free Restaurants/Dining in Houston and surrounding areas?
  7. Hello! I hear you about feeling overwhelmed [and I haven't even been diagnosed yet!] I am glad that found a diagnosis for you, and something that IS soooo manageable. Although an adjustment for sure, it's definitely doable I too want to second the book "Living Gluten Free For Dummies" by Danna Korn, as well as her other book "Wheat Free, Worry Free...
  8. That's awesome! Do you know of anything on the far NW side of houston? Unfortunately Central Market is quite far from me *bleh* I am in Tomball/Spring/Klein/Woodlands-ish area
  9. Wow, I first off want to say that your doctor really sounds pretty reasonable! I think for a doctor to be validating and to think outside the black & white of what results say, is a rarity (or atleast in my own experience!) I do understand about feeling like a hypochondriac though, so many (( Hugs )) to you, it can really take a toll on someone emotionally...
  10. Ok, so I saw a new doctor, and he actually increased my T4 (Brand Synthroid) to 100mcg (she had me decreased to 50mcg) and he took me off the Cytomel all together. So far it's been about a week and a half, and to be honest I am seeing very small (tiny) improvements (but they are improvements none the less, so I suppose that's a good thing?) Needless to say...
  11. Thanks again for your replies. I am not expecting all that much (although hoping for something, so maybe I'll have some answers.) I think if anything, I figured that for the money, taking the test would do no harm and couldn't put me any worse off than I am now, since the doctors aren't getting me very far So we'll see ...
  12. I was never tested for allergies using muscle testing technique, but I was tested for conditions/ailments at one point (about a year and a half ago when I was seeing a nautropath.) Anyway, admittedly so I thought some of it was cooky, and couldn't understand how that could possibly be true - but according to my results I had parasitism, an infection, severe...
  13. Hi ! Wow, that's great that you are finally getting some answers, do let us know! I relate to what you're going through, I too have been on the diagnosis yo-yo for about 2 years (and not totally diagnosed yet.) Best of luck with everything and keep us posted
  14. I've done weight watchers twice - and in total lost about upward of 30 pounds. I ended up stopping WW several months ago because being sick (autoimmune thyroiditis, insulin resistance, and undiagnosed food sensitivities) was taking such a toll on me, that I felt it was easier to have as little on my plate as possible (no pun intended!) Ofcourse, in...
  15. Woops, I was mistaken about the tests - they are food intolerence tests, not food allergy tests Here is the link Open Original Shared Link
  16. purple Wow, thank you so much for your reply! It was refreshing to read your experiences I found it interesting that you said we should all be eating 50 to 90 percent raw food anyway, I didn't know that ! kbtoyssni I really liked the perspective you put on being gluten free. I guess I don't have so much experience with the fact that there are so...
  17. I heard back from the nurse, and she spoke with my doctor, who basically said at this time nothing further is really necessary, and we'll go ahead with the sigmoidoscopy as scheduled. Unfortunately I've had horrible luck with doctors, so 'standing my ground' so to speak, is easier said than done. I recently went through the ringer with my last doctor...
  18. mamaw That is not a silly question. I have not been diagnosed, so the answer to your question is: I don't know. I have been dealing with a smorgasboard (no pun intended) of health problems for quite a while and I suspect that Gluten may be a problem for me. I know that going Gluten free is not a fad diet, however fact remains that food is food, and we all...
  19. The doctor said I was too young to need a Colonoscopy, so he wanted to start with the Sigmoidoscopy and do as little as needbe for my age. He also said I could choose if I wanted anesthesia or not for the Sigmoidoscopy (which I said I wanted it!) I have not heard back from him, but I will let you all know when I do. Thanks!
  20. Tim-n-VA ~ um... ok, maybe if I re-word it? How does Gluten Free food tastein comparison toglutenous food? Is it more bland? Is it less dense? Is it tasteful? Is it fulfilling? I am trying to think of adjectives I can use...
  21. I have only had a slice of Gluten Free Bread, once, a few years ago. If I remember correctly I thought it was pretty good. Other than that, I've never eaten specific and totally gluten free. So what does it taste like? Is it an aquired taste?
  22. Thanks for the reply, Ravenwoodglass. I did not tell him I suspected Celiac or Gluten Intolerance, but I did tell him about my symptoms (and I also mentioned my abnormal esophogeal motility, for which the do an endoscopy.) In the end, he determined a Sigmoidoscopy. I was scared to say anything or be presumptous. I have had unpleasant experiences with doctors...
  23. ShayFL & LoveGrov, thanks for your replies! CurlyFries ~ When I read your response I started tearing up. Granted, I do have other autoimmune issues, but am not diagnosed (or following) any gluten sensitive diet/lifestyle, but I relate well with what you said about how showers made you so exhausted you had to take a nap (that was the part I started...
  24. My blog here is probably going to be random, as I have a personal blog elsewhere and I also run a blog networking site (unrelated to Celiac) For now, my blog is going to be jots of this and jots of that - info, random venting, progress (or lackthereof) As of today, July 10 2008, I have been actively "sick" for almost 2 years with a Mystery Diagnosis...
  25. Oooh fun! How did you hear about that? That's pretty cool! What's in your goodie-bag?
