    ARCHIVED Corn?

corn is generally regarded as OK by celiacs, but i read on celiac.com that it has never been seriously examined, and has some "suspicious" traits, same for rice, millet, teff, etc. "gluten-free" Oats i can say for a fact give me a gluten-reaction, so i am very suspicious. the past couple of weeks, i have felt just awful, and taking item after item out...
  2. i got so ill i almost died as a teenager, and i still get physically clear siring pain in my abdomen whenever i have gluten. despite going off gluten before getting tested, there is no doubt in my mind i have celiac disease. while i refuse to get a biopsy, i am so physically sensitive that i can tell my intestines are pretty messed up after only 10 years...
  3. both of my younger brothers have recently become progressively sick, and our parents think they may also be celiac. one of them is 14: has lactose intolerance, diarrhea often, and general poor health, looks anorexic despite eating plenty and getting exercise, and generally all of the problems i had at that age. last night, this brother had Acid Reflux...
  4. first, i don't believe there is such a thing as "casein intolerance" unless its just poor wording - when its lactose, your body is intollerant (lacks enzymes to break down the food), when its casein, your body is allergic (immune system reacts). at least, that's the way doctors have always presented it to me. because i was born allergic to milk, i almost...
  5. because both you and presumably that girl are part european, and as i stated the chlorine allergy i have my european dad also has, "chlorine" and "native" don't logically connect. the other post doesnt connect "native" with "celiac" but yours might, and, your comment Does potentially connect celiac and chlorine allergy. im getting the impression alot...
  6. If im not mistaken, the last few pure blood cherokee were the grandparents of todays adults and young adults and are now close to non-existent. pure native american these days means a mix of tribes. that is probably why no stats can really be found.. sense all natives (even as far down the line as 1/32nd) seem predisposed to the milk allergy gene, does...
  7. my chlorine allergy is from my European family not native american, and you mentioned she was only 1/16th native american (meaning shes got other genetics, probably some european?) and not her or any of her family are identified as celiac, just people with allergies, which is why it didn't actually give any tangible information
  8. Glutamate sounds like "gluten" to me.. is that the G in msg? and are gluten-free products and foods free of glutamate?
  9. well, not to be rude but purple.. that seems both depressing and unrelated to the topic.
  10. actually, there are medical documents online that clearly state it is most common in Europeans, but common in Africans, and Asians too. if needed, you could tell your friend to print out a page like that. my brother is a mix of korean and cherokee.. and he has celiac. unexplained stomach-cancer is not uncommon in a number of asian countries - one theory...
  11. both of my parents show strong signs of being celiac, and two of my younger siblings have been confirmed celiac my mom is cherokee and my dad is british; one of my two brothers who has this disease is my <half> brother on her side. this led me to ask.. how common is celiac in native americans? i cant find any stats because its such a modernly obscure...
  12. i use burts bees, bar soap in the shower (no other type of soap), and liquid soap for washing hands. i only allowed it because i almost never go into that room, i obsessive compulsively wash my hands, they only eat over the floor (which i have him vacuum for me), and are not allowed to use any of my dishes. still it can't hurt to say "eat it outside"...
  13. I have been gluten free for almost 3 months now, and my general health has been improved dramatically.. My apartment is gluten-free, except for one room where people who come over sometimes have pizza. My shampoo, handsoap, and sanitizer are all organic and gluten free, and so is my dish soap. But still, i find myself getting cross-gluttened once every...
  14. it turns out burts bees makes a gluten & dairy free hand sanitizer found it on their list of gluten-free products : Open Original Shared Link
  15. ive been eating intentionally to gain weight - plain corn cereal (gorilla munch) + a piece of fruit + low acid orange juice for breakfast; eggs, kosher burgers, fish, potatoes, salad, fruit, and/or soup for lunch and dinner, along with plenty of snacking and cups of tea, a multivitamin (one n only) & getting some sun and exercise. (when cooking i include...
  16. it works for me in my situation, ergo "have to" but that didnt answer my question.
  17. ive been taking "one n' only" by "pure essence labs" for 3 years now. its free of gluten, vegan certified, and so on. it makes me feel great.
  18. i wear contacts so i have to use it - and im a little germ-phobic sense ive had an IGA defficieny all my life.. i like to use off-brands like rite-aid because purells smell make smell gag and it has too many additives. should i worry about it, sense it contains alcohol and stuff, and if so is there a gluten-free kind?
  19. before i knew i was celiac i used to eat Tons of midel ginger snaps originally i bought the ordinary, and got "mysterious" stomach aches shortly after - then i tried gluten free one day when they were all out.. and was forever more subconsciously drawn to the gluten-free, in fact i was so drawn to them it became one of the main hints i was celiac later...
  20. i officially hit 90lbs, my mate swears my chest is getting larger and that im a little taller (but im not sure about the taller part yet) and my skin is getting darker again (for the past 3 years i was pale as snow white) being nearly 19 i was worried it was too late for me to grow/change anymore.. most surprising is the breast growth - is that normal...
  21. my boyfriend bought some, seeing the "gluten-free" tag in bold on the side. as soon as he started brewing a pot, i thought something in it smelled bad, so i read the label.. second ingredient listed "organic barley" i started to panic, so i looked it up on their website, teeccino.com faq ""Does Teeccino contain any gluten?" Although Teeccino contains...
  22. i think "teen vouge" may be the best bet, they are the only fashion magazine that doesn't make my brain cry or groan at teh sheer ignorance of todays youth. they put articles about "issues effecting teens today" - including health concerns on a regular basis, from that staff infection outbreak to girls who want to be anorexic. but being realistic, how...
  23. i am becoming very concerned about soy as well - as a baby i hurled up every formula containing milk/casein, and accepted soy. i like the taste of soy, and only drink silk which is a seemingly reliable brand, as well, i love plain tofu be it raw, in miso, or mixed with a vegetable stir fry. but if so many people with gluten & casein allergies alike cant...
  24. both of the things i listed are supposed to work on yeast, and while for over a year multiple doctors swore what was on my tongue was yeast, and after a year long sugar-free low-carb diet & a powerful strike of probiotics and vitimins, i found out it may have actually been directly linked to celiac disease. having a coating on your tongue is not necessarily...
  25. ive never liked cooked vegetables, unlike most kids/teens i was always very close to vegan, and love raw fruits and vegetables to be a dominant part of my diet. why would raw vegetables be bad? my mom is cherokee so i've been allergic to milk sense birth, ive always been strictly soy. considering that, would plain silk brand soymilk still be a problem...
