  1. I always just use the recipe on the back of the bag- I think mine was Hogdson's mill. There is one w/ flour and one to be made w/o flour- it is more like old fashioned cornbread, not light and fluffy. I love it w/ some honey and butter.
  2. oh, that sounds wonderful. Now I have been meaning to make some coconut icecream after finding a new recipe(the last time I tried it wasn't so good). I will just have to get on that, that makes me think though of what I will do for my smoothie this morning- almond milk and strawberries!
  3. oh, those sound so good! I need to get me some pumpkin though- perfect time of year for that !
  4. that is so wonderful, I bet you do feel like a new person!
  5. My daughter is 17 months (son is 4). Anyway, I cook all gluten-free/DF meals. Both of my wee ones get smaller amounts of what we eat for meals. breakfast: scrambled eggs- a lot- the scrambled are good that way she can pick them up herself fruit- she likes cut apples pancakes- I just her these w/o syrup(don't use it myself either) smoothies = in...
  6. re: lactose intolerance: Well, I month ago I would have give you a strong no. However, afer going gluten-free my body is responding louder and louder to dairy. Both of my kids could not tolerate dairy and recently found out neither can either of my parents. So, I guess my new answer would be it seems so. Oh, the lady from Target /Archer Farms called...
  7. I am not an expert here- but I have searched about the nightime vomiting and yes, it does seem to be Celiac related. I was thinking the acid reflux was as well, but cannot remember positively. Hopefully, they will both have relief soon.
  8. So, sorry for asking so many questions. Sunday I had a bite of a dessert that had dairy - which I have figured out causes me issues. I was in the bathroom about 1 hr later. I also had some chips, but just a few- that I ate a ton of yesterday and seemed to cause me much intestinal discomfort( I am waiting to hear word back on whether these had some gluten...
  9. hmm, I have gotten these a few times. A couple of times this summer, thought it was poison ivy. My bumps itch like crazy though, which is why they seemed like poison ivy. something to keep an eye out for though.
  10. I called Target guest relations, the maltodextrin is from corn and the food starch from some plants. She said she would have to call me back when she got more info.
  11. hmm, I always thought the Hershey's was disgusting too, guess I was more right than I thought in thinking it wasn't real chocolate.
  12. interesting... I think I will call the company. I am not sure about MSG causing me stomach issues. What do you guys think about the cc issue?
  13. I got sick yesterday afternoon. The only 2 new things I can think of that I ate were some chips: Hot & Spicy - Archer Farms Potatoes sunflower oil and/or corn oil garlic and onion powder salt sugar spices fructose natural flavor vinegar powder- maltodextrin, white distilled vinegar , modified food startch tabasco flavor- aged cayenne- vinegar...
  14. those look so good! I wish I hadn't forgot to get spring rolls while I was in St LOuis!!
  15. Thanks for sharing that, very interesting. Hopefully with info like this more dr's will understand that the negative endoscopy is not the be all end all diagnosis.
  16. I did try some homemade yogurt a couple of weeks ago(24 hr fermented) it gave me a headache. I didn't expect it as I know the fermented is easier to digest. Before I would eat it a ton and not notice an issue.
  17. huh, this is just so crazy to me. You know it shouldn't be , but to have some actual confirmation of something rather than these suspicions blows me away. Of course I know both of the kids have not tolerated dairy from nursing them, the older one is currently on it, but I still think it might be an issue. Then my mom tells me the other day that milk gives...
  18. What a journey! It sounds like you are finally on the right track! Kudos to you for being so assertive and thank goodness your dr. finally listened!
  19. I have heard and experienced when you go off of a food that you reaction will be greater when you retrail it, rather than keep eating it. I am curious though as to whether this is normal as well. I have been gluten-free for about a month, any gluten I have got has been from cross contamination or perhaps a trace amount in some ingredient that I missed on...
  20. I would be cutting the gluten out myself. The first step when your wee one has digestive problems and is ebf'd is usually an elimination diet. Since you have a family history of celiac I woud look to that first and then to milk since they're often related, soy as well. If you want to be tested w/ mainstream methods I would be getting on it quickly so you...
  21. I am sitting here thoroughly confused as well. Luke still has watery stools, but only sometimes. It only happens after gluten is consumed, but not always after it is consumed, processed foods seem to be easier on him- go figure. This is so very frustrating. It makes you feel like you are insane, literally insane. I so wish there was more spent on testing...
  22. My son used to always have behavior issues w/ cheerios, and would not sleep for forever if he ate them. Somehow I never put that together w/ celiacs. We are just now testing, so I cannot say for sure that is what caused it. However, it is documented that other food allergies cause behavior issues as well. It is just sad that a lot of the mainstream poopoos...
  23. oh, my goodness. I can see how in a perfect world this would be great. However, this is scary in so many ways. Man that stinks. Hopefully you and the teacher can brainstorm different ways to do this so your daughter can be safe.
  24. Something to consider after the baby was born is that perhaps the baby was tired from labor and also when mom gets drugs in labor those go to the baby as well. Some babies do fine, but some take a bit to recover and are slow to start suckling because of that. I would definitely look into the gluten issue and be leery of milk as well- as they are so...
  25. Thanks for the replies. I finally broke down and ordered the Enterolab tests. I hope to find some kind of answer soon enough. I surely hope there is some other reason for this, it is just so sad.
