  1. I just made these and the kids are loving them. Melt chocolate or white chocolate chips and stir in Honey Rice Puffin cereal to coat them. Remove them and let them dry. Super good! (check the cereal though, they say wheat free and not gluten free although I found their website that says they are gluten free. That is questionable maybe?) Your...
  2. My 7 yr old daughter has just had her celiac panel taken and we are awaiting the results. In the mean time, we have received her stool test back Lysozyme 720 - ref. range <=600 sIgA 41 - ref range 51-204 PH 5.7 - ref range 6-7.8 I have been searching past threads about sIgA but it is so confusing. With the stool test, if you have low Secretory...
  3. HUGS! It will get easier. I'm still learning too. I can tell when my daughter is glutened because she gets very impulsive, very clingy and has diarrhea. But, she also has diarrhea when she eats dairy and orange juice. I just keep paying attention to what she's eaten when something goes wrong with her so I can see if it happens the next time....
  4. Hi, I have Hashimoto's Thyroiditis and if I'm remembering correctly, positive TPOAB is positive anti-thyroid antibiodies which means that you do have a thryoid autoimmune disease. My TSH is always low normal but my doc's supress it to help with symptoms. If my TSH stays closer to .9 I feel much better than if it gets over 1. The books that have helped...
  5. If you have undiagnosed dermatitis herpetiformis should a celiac panel pick up gluten intolerance? Or will a skin biopsy be necessary? My 7 yr old daughter suffers from molluscum and I have started wondering if it is really DH. It does not look like the bad cases I see on the internet, but it does look like some of the pictures I've found. She had her...
  6. Yeah, you confirmed what I was thinking about her age. She's been through so much already that I can't bear to do the biopsy only to have it possibly come back negative! I keep thinking about enterolab... can't decide! My 7 yr old gets her celiac test tomorrow. Depending on her results, maybe it will help me decide what to do, maybe, lol. Anyway...
  7. Hi, I have enjoyed this thread because my dd has low IgA and I'm always trying to figure out if I should have gone further to determine if she has celiac. She does have a positive IgG test though so she is gluten intolerant. I have found that so many things have improved since going gluten free that I imagine that if you are "just" gluten intolerant, you...
  8. Interesting! My 6 yr old daughter started talking in her sleep after going gluten free too. She has since stopped after about the first month or month and a half. She's sleeping better too. I'm glad you are getting a better sleep! I hope your night talking dies down! Susan
  9. HUGS! I have been thinking this week that my dd is getting glutened by Lay's regular Potato Chips. I'm going to switch to another kind, maybe those staxx that someone mentioned. susan
  10. Thank you both for your replies! It helps to know that we are just in the beginning and she still needs time to heal. It is hard to wait, not knowing exactly how it will turn out! Susan
  11. My 6 yr old dd has gluten intolerance (positive AGA IgG), low normal Total IGA but no celiac diagnosis. She is very sensitive to gluten. Her 7 yr old sister has some symptoms that I think are gluten intolerance too and I've asked her doctor for a celiac panel test. Our doc does not think she needs it and is reluctantly allowing it. Since I'm getting...
  12. I glutened my daughter with Longhorn French Fries and Taco Bell meat. She has bad gas and her impulsive behavior is back. I know I'm not careful enough with sauces or dressings too. I think I let my guard down, since she's "just gluten intolerant" as far as we know not celiac. But it's apparent that she is very sensitive. I didn't even think about...
  13. How soon after going gluten-free would you think you could expect test results to start becoming more normal regarding mal-absorption? My dd (age 6) does not absorb many of her vitamins, etc. She was retested for some of these things that she's low in (or high in due to some other mal- absorption). So far, nothing looks any better. We've been gluten-free...
  14. I just got a big hit with Trader Joes Gluten Free, Dairy Free pancakes. She used to not like them but now is enjoying them!
  15. Regarding unusual outbursts, my 6 yr old does not like me to talk about her to others while she can hear. The other day I was updating someone who we had not seen for a while and I was talking about her. She kept playing but said loudly and fairly rudely "I have ears you know, I can hear you talking, blah, blah, blah". I actually took this as a good sign...
  16. Since you have it, I would talk to her peditrician about whether she should be tested if she has not been yet. My dd did not show most of her obvious signs until she was closer to 5 yrs old, although she did have strange things going on with her and since we are unaware of any celiac's in the family, we were not looking for the signs. I too have heard of...
  17. Hi, Since my daughter was 3 I was searching for answers. She was first diagnosed with sensory processing disorder. She had strange behavior (impulsive, couldn't wind down to go to sleep, silent temper tantrums). She had constipation issues first that turned to diarrhea issues a few years later. When she was 4 she was diagnosed with epilepsy. When she...
  18. Hello, it sounds to me as though, for certain (without seeing your test results) that your daughter either has celiac or non-celiac gluten intolerance. Either way, the treatment is the same with the gluten free diet. My daughter has been diagnosed with gluten intolerance. She may have celiac, but I don't have doctors that feel strongly in going further...
  19. Oooohh, I so wish my dd liked grits! My older dd loves them and so do I.. They are so yummy! I made cream of rice today and older dd loved that too but my gluten-free girl just won't go for them right now. Susan
  20. Hi! The thing that helped me was to realize I didn't have to limit it to breakfast items. My picky 6 yr old often eats Ian's fish sticks, Bell and Evans gluten-free chicken nuggets or gluten-free pasta for breakfast. Here's our list so far. She seems to get one thing she likes, eats that every meal (practically) for 2 weeks and then changes her taste...
  21. Hi, my daughter is 6 and is gluten intolerant and we are also trying casein and soy free for now. She has improved a lot since going gluten free 1 1/2 months ago but we are still learning and she's still healing. I hope you are seeing improvement after removing your son's allergens. Good luck to you!
  22. I was very surprised at how little I had to take away from my dd's stash. It was about 3/4 for us too. She didn't even ask me to add back in candy we had purchased that was fine (thank goodness since I had promised her I would and she has plenty of candy!). She and her sister have been eating way too much and now it's time for it to start disappearing. ...
  23. Hi, I live in Charlotte so I'm practically your neighbor! Thanks for the reminder about Bloom! I'll have to check them out now that we are gluten-free and see what I can buy there. It might save me a trip all the wa across town to the health food store. Susan
  24. Very cool! Great news!
  25. I bought the 123 Gluten Free Brownie Mix. It was a huge success with my gluten free dd birthday girl but also all the kids at the party. It was very amazing! Thanks for all the great birthday cake suggestions. I had a few other mixes as backups that I know we will try out over time as well. I can't seem to get this picture to work but if you are interested...
