  1. The gfco, I don't trust. a number of the ones they list are not made in dedicated facilities. I.e.: Perk-Os cereals The other website doesn't say anything about dedicated vs potentially CCed products, or I just don't see it, off hand..
  2. Do any of you drink Raspberry Leaf Tea? I read it, like chamomile, is helpful in healing celiacs. Whether it's for healthy skin, menstrual aid, mood managment, vitimins, anything else, does it work for you? Is it considered safe for those of us who have naturally lower blood sugar and pressure?
  3. I actually eat a lot of raw food (though, mainly vegetable) and many fruits, so no sugar issues, either. I definitely always feel bad right after having a Larabar, so it does something bad to me, but maybe via coincidence I'm just also getting glutened by obscure things; For example, I ate a Fruitabu product in the same time frame last time, maybe that...
  4. Are there any specific foods that tend to help celiacs gain weight? I'd love specific plain food items, recipes, or prepackaged items! Restrictions are; No oats, milk, soy, dairy, yeast, and minimal eggs. No non-dedicated-line products. I have started gaining a little, but my system is just to eat as much as I can without feeling sick.
  5. Does anyone know of a list online or in book form of products or brand that are just dedicated gluten-free? Not labeled Gluten-Free but produced on equipment that processes gluten (stated or hidden). All of the gluten-free lists and online stores I've found list anything and everything labeled gluten-free; not very useful to those of us with strict diets...
  6. I'm so glad to hear something other than "You're crazy, the bars are totally gluten-free." I can't eat the Borabora snack bars because they contain oats, but thank you very much for your reassuring post.
  7. Larabars have great reviews, claim to be free of dairy soy & gluten, come in many flavors, all kosher & vegan approved with no sugar added.. But I could swear every time, immediately after I eat one, I get a little sick! Has anyone else reacted to them? * Note : I am not allergic to dates nuts or any other ingredient in the bars. They do...
  8. Hate to break it to both of you.. but your partly wrong. Almost all brands are either not directly gluten-free, contain other common allergens (many celiacs cannot tolerate), or are cross-contaminated. Popular brands like Utz and Lays seem to be contaminated enough to hurt "moderately sensitive" celiacs.. While Kettle brand seem only to effect the more...
  9. Has anyone without question been glutened by . . 1. Corn Thins (One of their flavors contains barley or rye, but they claim to be "very careful," and I worry.) 2. Arico foods products (especially the Cassava Chips) - They imply they are a dedicated line, with only potential CC of soy dairy and a few other common allergens. - - - Bonus expose' :...
  10. This is an older topic, but the best place to post the product's news; Many people can tolerate tiny amounts, so this brand may be "safe".. But some of us get sick over "next to nothing," and should be warned. I, at least, have a gluten-reaction to their products. Eden Foods states : Open Original Shared Link ------ Gluten is an insoluble protein...
  11. That's fine for some obscure research, but it's irrelevant to this topic.. and it has an eerie resemblance to the (sometimes dangerous) theory that celiac is really just candida overgrowth.
  12. "Not testing positive," doesn't make you not Celiac. It's a somewhat gray area, but doctors tend to classify you based on the severity of your gluten reactions, within 3 categories : direct gluten-reaction symptoms, gut damage, related health problems. - - - Generally, a Celiac will meet at least 1 of 3 criteria, with at least mild symptoms from the other...
  13. I stopped eating bananas around age 7, then started again when I was 16, briefly. The last few times I had a banana.. I was probably the sickest I have ever been in my life. Ever. Seriously. I was shaking, felt weak as could be, dizzy, tingling, couldn't move, and was made even more nauseous than gluten makes me. Not an allergy, and seemed too severe to...
  14. I am the same age, and walked on my toes as a child, even at age 4. I still do it. celiacs are born celiac, even if they do not develop the disease until later in life. I first notice a gluten-derivative making me ill around age 9.
  15. I did seem to have Addison's, pre-gluten-free (later they attributed my symptoms to Celiac).. But, I should have just been tan from genetics. I don't think I have a problem with tyrosine. I used to have a B12+D deficiency, probably made me pale..? How long does it take (gluten-free + healthy diet + vitimins) for that to resolve? And, is it really that...
  16. This may be a stupid question but.. Have you ruled out cross-contamination, called every company of every food you eat to be sure they don't also process wheat/barley/rye? Most packaged "gluten-free" foods aren't. This includes brands like Nature's Path, Rice Dream, and generally anything not produced on a dedicated line. I have personally found there...
  17. I am a happy ex-vegan celiac. Was in almost exactly the same boat as you. Fish, I have had many.. many problems digesting, but, I don't know why. Eggs are great but eating very many or very often tends to make people feel awful. Slightly less popular, vegan-friendly alternatives; Turkey is a great white meat, if you get free-range antibiotic...
  18. Seasalt makes me feel horrible, if i have more than tiny amounts with a meal. I will list the the most damage-minimizing and symptom-reducing method I have found; All of these daily until glutening has passed : Regular doses of Slippery Elm powder. 2-4 cups of Chamomile tea. Peppermint leaf tea (or peppermint-ginger mix) as needed. (Stops...
  19. I've been gluten-free for 8 months, feel generally healthier, but my pigment is still short of normal. My hair is (finally) a darker brown again, was light for a while, and I got a very slight tan this past summer, but I burned.. I never burned before in my life!! I can't seem to get back to my old, darker, skin. Will that change as time goes by? I...
