  1. If I'm not mistaken, there have been many disputes to the theory that nothing but consumption can trigger a reaction in all celiacs.
  2. Now the legal status of this practice is extremely varied based on your area, so as a disclaimer : I'm not advocating doing anything illegal. Either those still healing, or on occasions of accidental gluten-consumption; often prone to difficult menstruation, digestive/joint/muscle pains, loss of appetite, migraines, extreme stress, inability to sleep,...
  3. richard : If you are implying that all coffee must be gluten-free, you are sadly mistaken. Momma Goose : the problem is, if it becomes an ingredient in just one flavor, the entire line could be contaminated.
  4. It was in fact not gluten, but potatoes, making me ill (for once)! I re-read the label on Bob's Red Mill gluten-free corn muffin mix. I could have sworn they were potato-free last time I checked.
  5. Note to more sensitive celiacs : Kinnikinnick is dedicated gluten-free, while Arrowhead Mills (and pretty much any random store brand) isn't.
  6. Does anyone know yet, if Folgers coffee will remain 100% gluten-free, now that Smuckers has bought them?
  7. The lemon was neither peeled, or washed..!
  8. I am one of the more sensitive celiacs, and lately I have been feeling half awful, half fine, and suspect very minor glutening - but from what?? Constantly tired or lightheaded, periodic stomach distress, period shaking super-sick sensation that passes quickly, can't seem to tell when I'm hungry or full, and generally feel like I have a head cold (but without...
  9. Monovie set up my "scam" flags on so many levels. A very attractive young blonde woman came to my work place and started chatting us up. She talked about how her family members with all sorts of illnesses were miraculously cured just by adding that overpriced drink to their diet. She also went on about how it was a special "buy now or loose out" deal as...
  10. DearPark is also gluten-free. Distilled water is inherently safe (though not exactly a nutritious choice long-term).. but mineral/spring (though usually just "packaged tap water"), colored, vitamin, tea, fruit, and any other type of "enhanced" water are enough to make set off over-cautious alarm, so I always check new brands.
  11. I don't know about Bare Minerals, but Everyday Minerals is a gluten-free product line. I will have to email and make sure they don't use shared equipment. A re your products vegan & gluten-free ? All of the products at Everyday Minerals, with the exception of the soaps (they contain honey) and silk dust (renewable from broken silk worm...
  12. There have been some concerns over gluten and wheat starches used in various paper products, as some companies have reported using gluten. I emailed Dixie.com and got this detailed response! -- Thank you for contacting the Georgia-Pacific Consumer Response Center. Georgia-Pacific places tremendous importance on the feedback we receive from our consumers...
  13. Afterglow states : "Are your gluten free cosmetics made in a gluten free facility? Our gluten free cosmetics are made in a facility that makes other non gluten free cosmetics." Anyone sensitive should be aware that this brand is not totally gluten-free, just technically gluten free. I am still looking for just one single totally gluten-free cosmetics...
  14. I can see a clear point for it. Your living situation is very related to your celiac status. While teens still live with their parents, and older people live with their children, post-highchool most people move in with non-relatives around their own age. The work, home, medical, and/or school issues are different for this age group. For example, we often...
  15. I have a horrible reaction to potatoes. It's a mix of the symptoms I get from dairy, and from gluten. But Yams and Sweet potatoes also give me stomach problems (albeit more mild than regular potatoes)! I was under the impression that the three were not actually related. Am I missing something?
  16. I swore off all assorted Glutino products. I don't know what it is about that brand, I just can't eat it without feeling horrible.
  17. I contacted Max Factor via their live chat with "customer service" .. They sent me a link to this page : Open Original Shared Link (ingredients list for all of their products), and when I specified that I was asking about the actual line/equipment, (not just an individual product,) they disconnected me! I have never had a company hang up on me before.
  18. On top of being celiac, many here have a wheat allergy. Apply an allergen to your face and you can get zits, eczema, hives, etc. I happen to have that problem. I also tend to get eyeliner on my fingers, I am not a good applier, and I don't like putting "poison" on my face.. So is this really a crime to post about?
  19. Burtz Bees products get a reaction out of me. The lines seem to be cross-contaminated.
  20. Even the Gluten-free makeup products advertised right here on this website have the classic "cross-contamination may be present" warning. Is there an eyeliner or any other type of makeup that is genuinely safe for the most sensitive celiacs?
  21. Yes, they do have CC and even state on some of their products (but also applies to "unmarked" products) that they are produced on shared facilities. It's all very personal. If you are very sensitive and sometimes react to items labeled "gluten-free," you should only buy dedicated brands. If you don't seem to react, it just comes down to how cautious you...
  22. Makeup is a constant topic among celiacs in general.. But I have yet to across a thread just about no-CC makeup. Does anyone know of a brand with any line of any type of makeup that is safe? (I am especially interested in eyeliner and base/cover up) The only one I know so far: Softlips brand is 100% gluten-free ,and now makes colored lip tones with...
  23. Does anyone know of an antiperspirant that is 100% no-CC gluten-free? I have no interest in deodorants.
  24. Speaking of looking out for the brand.. Natures Path is not a dedicated line (do not separate their gluten-free and "regular" products). Anyone sensitive should avoid the brand.
  25. Like many others here, I was hypoglycemic pre-gluten-free.. but like as you said, it isn't the same sensation. It also took me a long time to get a doctor to listen. My blacking out pre-gluten-free was also not caused by hypoglycemia. They assumed I must have low blood pressure, but I was always within the normal range, so it was never proven as the cause...
