ARCHIVED Instant Quaker Oatmeal
harp1 replied to clnewberry1's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Ditto to everyone else's posts. I stupidly ate 6 or 8 oatmeal cookies and had intense diarrhea for 5 days - thought it would never stop. I recommend Creamy Rice Hot Cereal by Bob's Red Mill. Susan ps what finally fixed the diarrhea was oscillococcinum - available at any health food store. It's primarily for the flu and also helps with an digestive disruption... -
I've been clean for 4 years, I got contaminated (6 oatmeal cookies - what a mistake) and I had uncontrollable diarrhea for 5 days. Sorry you're not feeling well. Susan

Could you help me figure out a way to save/store individual posts from others? So much wonderful information. Do I need to start several threads? Thanks so much. Susan

I'm glad to support you in any way I can. Feel free to email if you need more contact. I've done it by myself, I'm single and there's nothing worse than getting isolated. If you can post more here and we'll listen. Susan

Great ideas. Thanks all! -
So glad you posted. I've been really shaky for a long time - have essential tremor, and sometimes unsteady on my feet. I've recently started B12 and magnesium shots and everything is improved. My thinking is clearer and memory is improved, as well as my general attitude. I'm not depressed or anxious. WOW. There's so much research about how the brain is...

ARCHIVED Nice And Safe Restaurant In Atlanta?
harp1 replied to pah77's topic in Gluten-Free Restaurants
The Ritz Carlton in Buckhead or downtown do a great job too, call ahead, Fuga de Gao - all the meats, very expensive and nice - has a gluten-free menu in Buckhead. -
Patricia, Coming from another angle and it's possible folks have already said these things or you are doing them. When i was unbearably bad it was recommended I swab the itchy area with hydrigen peroxide, I would also carry alcohol swabs when I was out and swab the area on my scalp instead of itching it. DP is a virus (hope I remember correctly) and the...

Thanks Mommagoose. How did you find it? (My new topic - Indian Spices) -
Hi, I started a new topic - Indian Spices in the Food and ingredients room, now I can't find it. Any ideas? Is a new topic removed if no one responds to it? Also how do I operate the smiley faces? Thanks so much for your help.

ARCHIVED Being Cautious Vs Obsession
harp1 replied to MollyBeth's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I share your love of hard salami - eat it every day. I always order Boar's Head - but that's beside the point. The deli person always hands me the first slice - maybe I should toss that one as a way to begin to handle contamination. Anyway, I've never had a problem. Almost everyone is ordering Boar's Head at this counter - but everybody is different. ... -
I love Indian Food and I found www.Arora Creations.com indian spices at Whole Foods - very clean (even my nutritionist agrees), only one product has soy - Chicken Tikki. I've had the cauliflower Gobi and the Tandoori Chicken - very tasty to me. Indian was my favorite before gluten-free. Any other ideas?

It's funny, the B12/Magnesium shots are helping my memory and my over all mood. I feel much more stable mentally. It's a wonderful thing. More confident about my memory. ( for example with my private music students)

ARCHIVED Gluten Free: How Long To See Dh Improve?
harp1 replied to JenR's topic in Dermatitis Herpetiformis
I wish you the best. I didn't take my doctors advice and only eliminated wheat and did not eliiminate soy and dairy. Major meltdown a year later with massive peripheral neuropathy (could hardly use my hands-I'm a musician) and massive DH. Now I'm really clean and the DH is almost gone on my scalp 6 years later, I still have one finger that doesn't work... -
:P After reading these very intelligent posts in response to your question - I thought of digestive enyzmes like Papaya. You're probably still working on healing internally, so determining what you're allergic to is critical. Just thought I would bring up the enyzme. If taken with food it helps digest the food. About weight, I follow weight watchers...
