ARCHIVED Your Daily Vitamin Regimen?
foodiegurl replied to foodiegurl's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
i notice some people take cal/mag/d on top of a multi-vitamin, would this be too much vitamin D? I was reading somewhere it was important not to get too much. I did have a bone density scan that was normal, but still want to take the vitamins. I bought a Cal/Mag combo, because I was worried about getting to much D, which is already in my prenatal at... -
I was just curious how long it generally takes the b12 sublingual to dissolve? I bought the Jarrow brand, lozenges. I place itunder my tongue, but it takes a good 5-10 minutes for it to dissolve. That seems slow, is it normal?

ARCHIVED Are There Any Corn/potatoe Chips That Are 100% Safe?
foodiegurl replied to jasonD2's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
My absolute favorite chips are Xochitl corn chips. They say they are gluten-free right on the package and are made with non-GMO, organic corn. They are a bit pricey, but worth it to me. They sell them at Whole Foods as well as some mass grocery stores. -

ARCHIVED Should I Have My Daughter Tested By More Than Blood?
foodiegurl posted a topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I have celiac. I had my 4-year old daughter tested by blood in March, and it was negative. Her vitamin levels were all normal as well. I always get these tested since we don't eat meat. She is growing normally. Very slim, but tall. She was only 4 1/2 pounds when born due to my pre-eclampsia and IUGR, so she has always been slim but always followed the... -

foodiegurl replied to foodiegurl's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Yes, as I mentioned above, I have been taking it regularly. In the beginning, I was taking 2-4 a day, not I take it as needed. It tastes horrible, but did make me feel better. -
ARCHIVED H.pylori, Positive Blood, Negative Biopsy
foodiegurl posted a topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Several months ago, I rested positive for h.pylori by bloodwork. I declined the antibiotics because I already have allergies to 3 types, and was scared of the treatment to take 2 different antibiotics 7 times a day for 2 weeks. I felt this would make me feel worse than ever, and if I had a reaction I would not of known which one it was to, and would now... -

foodiegurl replied to foodiegurl's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
This is exactly what I said, but she said that was not true....that something can actually be gluten-free, as in alchol, but still cause a reaction, because of the wheat -
ARCHIVED Can Something Be Gluten-free But Still Contain Wheat?
foodiegurl posted a topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
My sister and I were having this discussion the other day since she has an actual allergy to wheat. i was telling her how I saw gluten-free beer at Summerfest (in Miwaukee..New Grist beer), and she asked me if it had wheat in it. I responded.."of course not!" I know the gluten-free beers do not contain wheat, but she was saying how even if something... -

ARCHIVED New To Celiac
foodiegurl replied to followerofmyheart's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
it is so frustrating, and unless someone has close experience with celiac, people just don't understand it, as i didn;t before i found out i had it. another thing to worry about at cookouts and bbqs is that while something may be gluten-free, you have to worry about people putting utensils in those dishes that have been in gluteny foods or using their... -
ARCHIVED Gluten Free Pie Crust
foodiegurl replied to rebe09's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
While I absolutely love baking, this is totally cheating... I get my gluten-free pie crusts at the Whole Foods bakery. They are absolutely delicious!! I use them for pies and quiches, and no one can tell the difference. It is actually the best part of the pie/quiche, it is that yummy!! But, if you do find a good recipe, I would like to know too -
ARCHIVED Gluten Ingestion Proportionate To Reaction?
foodiegurl posted a topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I was curious if typically the reaction one would get from accidentally ingesting gluten would be the same...or does it depend on the amount...say an accidental crumb....to a bag of chips you thought were gluten-free, but were not. Just curious, thanks. -
ARCHIVED Before Dx Did You Have More C Or D
foodiegurl replied to mindyandy420's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I have always had C, but thought it was normal for me. i guess I didn't even know it was C, I just thought it was normal to go 1-2 times per week, as my mom does too. I would try everything and nothing would work, except exercise...even Colace did nothing. I do get D when I am super nervous though, but I am guessing that has more to do with anxiety... -
ARCHIVED Is The Amount Of Gluten Consumed Proportionate To Reaction?
foodiegurl posted a topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I am just curious is amount of gluten accidentally consumed proportionate to your reaction, or will you react the same whether you accidentally ingested a tiny crumb, or something touched something gluten on a plate, or a piece of gluten-filled cake? (not that anyone would consume the cake on purpose, I am just using it to stress the difference in portion... -

ARCHIVED The Irony Of Going Gluten-free, For Me
foodiegurl replied to foodiegurl's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
You know, I did go there one time before, but it was just a week after going gluten-free, and I felt a bit bad, but I thought it was the onion and my system since it was absorbing stuff it hadn't in a long time. This time I got no onions. But true...I have no idea about the chips, and should have asked. Usually, I am so good about asking, and calling...
