  1. I also used to joke around that my bloating and irregularity was due to everything being moved around during my c-section Welcome!
  2. I am extremely new here, but for me so far i have noticed....no more bloating or gas, and at the time-of-the-month...no PMS!! no bloating and cramps...Yeah!!!
  3. wait, so if you accidentally get glutened once a month, you are better off, just eating gluten regularly??!!
  4. I would explain as you said, it is just as serious as her son's peanut allergy. He may go into shock, but for you it will release a whole autoimmune response, so it is just as serious. If she is willing to buy items at stores that are listed as peanut-free, I am not sure why she would have a problem with you bringing something over that is peanut-free,...
  5. I actually have an unopened box of the multigrain ones in my kitchen now that I bought from Whole foods the other day..now I I can't wait to open them today, and maybe have them with some cheese or hummus!
  6. I just discovered these today. I cut out fake veggie burgers a few years ago after realizing there is more scary stuff in them than in the actual meat I am not eating, and I started feeling icky after them. But I am came across these at Whole Foods, and they are yummy. No soy, dairy or gluten. Only, brown rice, carrots and sunflower seeds. I am...
  7. Thanks for bringing this up. What city are you in? In Chicago, I have a regular falafel place I go to, and they assure me it is all chick pea flour, and so far have had no problems, and I go there regularly. But, i wouldn't doubt that not all places are like this. I sure hope there is not white bread in it, I know they make it from scratch. I do...
  8. Carbonara pasta is with pork not beef and eggs, can you do eggs? I am sorry you are having a rough time...little do they know, it is just as difficult for us. I agree, though...maybe have him do his food slightly different so he will be satisfied. Can you do yogurt? You could put some greek yogurt in the mashed potatoes. I put greek yogurt in everything...
  9. Today when I was at TJ's, I saw these new chips, rice & bean chips, and the label said gluten-free..i grabbed them. I opened them as soon as I got home, and can't get enough of them. Then I realized I better slow down in case I do end up feeling crap from them. I sure hope they are really gluten-free, because if not, I will feel icky tomorrow, I...
  10. Ok, i answered one of my own questions...I contacted Lorac, and their oil free wet/dry powder is gluten-free!!
  11. I originally mentioned to my doctor i was having reflux at my annual appt, so she tested for h.pylori, which i have found is to be causing it. As an added bonus, I also found out i have Celiac, however I think it is the h.pylori that is causing the reflux.
  12. Does anyone know about Lorac make-up? I have Lorac foundation/powder and was wondering if it was safe. i sure hope to, because it was not cheap Also, what about Almay concealer and eye shadow? Boots mascara? Oil of Olay daily moisturizer and eye firming cream? I also use Desert Essence facial pads, and i noticed it has grain alcohol...
  13. In this month's 'Everyday' magazine, on the last page there is an interview with Elizabeth Hasselbeck about living gluten-free. It is not very detailed, but does bring some awareness =)
  14. I second the honey suggestion, that is what I use on my toasted gluten-free bread for breakfast, and I love it!! Also, for coffee, I have never liked it, so I am not sure =)
  15. I am by no means a pro, since I am very new to this, but one thing I noticed missing from your list, that I know many people have issues with are nightshades (tomatoes, potatoes, peppers and eggplants) Good luck to you and your boyfriend!!
  16. I saw that, and it honestly made me think, hmmm....I am making french toast with my gluten-free bread this weekend!! I have been a 90210 fan since is started in 1990. Yeah, I am little crazy
  17. Chicago is a great place!! One place I love and had gluten-free success and is pretty close to Wrigley Field is a Thai place called Cozy Noodle, it is super cute inside and kitschy. I used to go there all the time before gluten-free, and the last time I was there, they showed me the gluten-free soy sauce they were using, and told me all the ingredients...
  18. Mmm...reading this is making me hungry. I have not had Vietnamese since being gluten-free, but I have eaten it often, and love pho! Enjoy!!
  19. Landon, I am not one of the experienced, my apologies, but I could have written a lot of what you did! I am pretty new here too. I live in Chicago, 36, married to a great guy and we have a wonderful 4-year old daughter. My biggest fear has always been illness and not seeing my daughter grow up. My only health issues was developing severe pre...
  20. I know I can get copies, I am not questioning that. I had the paper in my hand with the results, and could not understand it. I believe she ordered a full celiac panel, and I know it is on their lab order forms, but being that this is the only one that was labeled 'positive'...do I need more proof? Does ENDOMYSIAL being positive means 100% I have Celiac...
  21. I didn't have the biopsy, but I feel similar to you. Almost 2 months ago, my dr told me I had celiac, and i basically had no symptoms, except occasional gas and constipation (doesn't everyone?? Anyway, now that I have eliminated wheat, now is when I get tummy issues that I never even had before. It is frustrating. And like you, it makes me nervous to...
  22. Today I had a follow-up with my reg. doctor, the one who ordered the tests in the first place during my physical in February, which discovered I had h.pylori and Celiac. I went in with paper and pencil ready to write down all my exact numbers of my lab work, however I wasn't able to get it. I asked her what all the Celiac results were, and she showed...
  23. sorry, I had to laugh as this reminds me of the Charlotte in the 'Sex and the City' movie - hehe.
  24. I can't answer most of what you asked, because I am new here too. But I did want to address the h.pylori. I have it as well, I found out about them at the same time. Well, the Celiac was a surprise. Anyway, for the h.pylori they want me to take massive doses of antibiotics to eradicate, which i know is the "normal" procedure, but I have not done it yet...
  25. me too!
