For those of you who went at least a year being gluten-free and then had a pregnancy, how did it go? Did the celiac get worse? Better? How was the pregnancy? I have a 4-year old, and with her I developed severe pre-eclampsia/HELLP and my daughter had IUGR, and I believe that is what triggered the celiac. I have been gluten-free for 3 months now, and...

Can Imodium be used if you don't have D, but just to reduce symptoms of a sore stomach during a glutening? I need to find something. Thanks.

ARCHIVED The Irony Of Going Gluten-free, For Me
foodiegurl replied to foodiegurl's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Thanks for your suggestion, however, I am pretty sure it is not corn. i eat it daily with no issue. I eat corn on the cob every weekend when we cook out, and I eat corn chips and corn tortillas at home daily. Though, I buy chips that say gluten-free, and tortillas a trust. I guess at a restaurant they could have fried the chips with something breaded... -
ARCHIVED Food Labelling And Protein
foodiegurl replied to dream77's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I did once buy some Hunt's fire roasted canned tomatoes, and after some research, I determined they had gluten, and gave them away to a friend. Though, I use Muir Glen Fire Roasted with no problem. I just tried the new Betty Crocker gluten-free brownie mix and they were super yummy, and reasonably priced. One blog that I have come to love and depend... -
ARCHIVED The Irony Of Going Gluten-free, For Me
foodiegurl posted a topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
It all started when I casually said during my physical that I had some reflux and bloating...nothing painful, just some stuff I noticed. So, I find out I have celiac, and was really nervous about cutting out gluten for the reason that happening now. Now, when I do get some in me, like last night, my stomach feels like h*ll. So, I go from making my... -
ARCHIVED Food Labelling And Protein
foodiegurl replied to dream77's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Thank you for asking the question. I am also vegetarian, who tries to eat fish once a week. I try and eat a lot of beans, fresh fruit and veg. Like you, i know i am not getting enough protein. I also eat tofu, but try to limit it, because I know tons of soy is not great either. Quinoa is great though! -

ARCHIVED Strawberry Allergy?
foodiegurl replied to foodiegurl's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
Interesting. I have actually had a latex test last year, and I was negative, and don't seem to react to the gloves or band-aids. However, the last couple of times I have had bananas I have had a stomach ache within an hour...coincidence? This really bums me out, since it is something I always eat in the morning, and I always have plenty on hand. The... -

ARCHIVED Will Celiac Ever Be A Trait And Not A Disease?
foodiegurl posted a topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I just hate that Celiac is a disease, it is so depressing. If so many people have it, 1 in 133, and many people are being diagnosed as kids, it seems it would be more of a genetic trait than a disease. I just hate saying "I have celiac disease", and always drop off the disease part. I don't want to be thought of as sick, especially if I am someone who... -

ARCHIVED Strawberry Allergy?
foodiegurl replied to foodiegurl's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
Interesting. They were surrounded y straw, I never thought of that being an issue...but I felt an allergic response like I do to avocados, which I know, by testing, I am allergic to. I didn't feel any kind of glutened response. Oh well, maybe I will try again some day in the future, in the meantime, I hope blueberries and raspberries will be ok for me... -
ARCHIVED Had My Endoscopy But Was Already Gluten-free
foodiegurl posted a topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
As you can see in my other post, I survived the endoscopy....yippee!! The main reason I had it done was to check for the damage, if any, I have from the h.pylori that also decided to have a party in my tummy. I have been 100% gluten-free for 3 months, and knew I would not go on gluten for this, and told my GI dr that as well. Afterwards, and I was... -
Endoscopy Tomorrow, And Terrified!
foodiegurl replied to foodiegurl's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
thank you everyone for your encouraging words. i kept thinking about what everyone said as I was sitting the hospital room, on gown, with my IV waiting to be whisked away. It is true, the anticipation is definitely the worst part. once i got a shot of demerol, I was out, and never even saw my dr come in to do the procedure. Apparently, I even slept... -
I finally have my endoscopy tomorrow morning and I am terrified. I am terrified there will be some complication, or I won't wake up...or of course, they will find something scary. I am terrified, I won't come home and see my husband and daughter again. Please tell me I am overreacting, and it is easy

ARCHIVED Reaction To Gluten Or Dairy?
foodiegurl replied to foodiegurl's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Sounds interesting, I will have to try that just to see how it tastes! -
Sorry, I know this is not related to gluten, but I wasn't sure where to put it. Let me start off by saying strawberries have always been my favorite flavor of anything, I love making desserts with them, plus I have about 5 pounds of fresh strawberries in my fridge right now form picking on Monday. Well, looks like I have a definite strawberry allergy...

foodiegurl replied to foodiegurl's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Good point, i never thought about them throwing it back in...yuck! Wow, I didn't know Dairy Queen was gluten-free...good to know. -
Last week I was away on holiday for 3 days. I did really well, and spoke to the chefs at the restaurants I ate at, and even brought my own pasta to an Italian place for them to cook for me with their sauce. Every time I was at a cafe and ordered a chai, I would ask to see the package, and if I was unfamiliar I would use my phone to look up the brand...

ARCHIVED Ahi Tuna/wild Salmon Burgers By Omega Foods

I was buying these burgers and thought they were great, and they are labeled gluten and dairy free. ARCHIVED Could I Have Been Glutened And Not Know It?
foodiegurl posted a topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
The other day, I was at my friend's for a lunch playdate with our children. I brought my own sandwich to eat, just in case. It turns out, she was making us omelettes since she knows I can't have gluten. So, I watched how she prepared everything, and it all looked good. Then right before she put the eggs in the pan, she sliced butter to go with it, and... -
